Abut 5 years ago we met Alex Brown of Chicago Bears with his wife and children. We were on the same tour with them in Grand Cayman, attended Bingo with them a lot and spent time in the hot tub. He was very nice. His wife won the free cruise on the list night at Bingo.

Waiting for the shuttle back to get to your car can be a nightmare.....

We have never had any problems getting the shuttle back to the hotel. They are waiting for us when we debark and off we go.

With the price of parking at Baltimore port, we come down the day before and stay at the Best Western Plus. They have a park/stay/sail package that is sometimes cheaper than parking alone at the port. They shuttle you to the pier morning of cruise and then pick you up on return.

We have done the same thing for 2 Pride cruises and are leaving next Sunday 3/12 doing that again. We love the Best Western and their shuttle service. The close proximity to 95 makes it so much easier traveling and we don't have to pay the Fort McHenry Toll.

We are thinking of booking the 11/4/18 Journeys cruise as well. Maybe we will meet.:)

I have just been introduced to the new Marco Polo App which is basically video messaging. I am wondering if it will work while we are at sea with my daughter who will be at home. It would be so cool to let her see what we are doing. Any one have any experience with this.

We were on this cruise and I have to totally agree with you about Dr. E. I had heard alot about him, so I was anticipating sailing with him. He's fantastic! And a really nice guy to boot. So friendly towards everyone of all ages. Did you attend Quest? That was a blast! Yes the Legends show was great with Dr. E. as Beyonce. It took a bit of looking to figure out it was him at first. lol.

 

Thanks for the feedback on the spa area. We never got a chance to use the spa. Maybe next time.

 

Is the Legends show new, meaning not the same characters that have been part of the show for the last 10 years or so. (Elvis, Aretha, James Brown, etc.)? I had heard that it was going to be updated a while ago but then never heard anything else. Just curious.

Anxiously awaiting the next installment. We sail on the Magic in October with a group of 8 and we cannot wait. We started sailing regularly in 2004 and this will be the 14th in the row. We did the Mardi Gras for our honeymoon in 1981 and I also have 3 other cruises on other lines so in reality it's my 18th. I absolutely love the way you write. You should make it a book.;)

Keep it coming. We are on the Magic in October and it will be my 18 but a bit older than you. I wish I had started earlier in life because by now I would be Diamond because 14 of those cruises were with Carnival. I hope you have lots of pictures. We have not been on Magic yet but have experienced quite a few others.

We stayed at the Best Western on O'Donnell Street last May and are booked again for this April. OUr room was clean and on the top floor. We were able to watch the ship return in the morning. The breakfast was good and we used the Dining Room for dinner the night we stayed. Our car was fine there and the shuttle was fantastic. We were on the first shuttle to and from the ship and it was "free". If you are just looking for the convenience of a place to park your car and your body for the night with a little food to hold you over till you get aboard ship I recommend BW O'Donnell Street.

We stayed at the Best WEstern on O'donnell street last May. Our room was on the top floor and was clean and suitable. From the window at the end of the hall I watched the Pride come back into port. The breakfast was much better than some other places we have stayed. The shuttle service was good too. WE had the first shuttle to the port and about an hour wait from arrival to boarding. There were 3 weddings that day. We left our car at the Best Western and it was "free" parking for up to 14 days. We are staying there again in April for our next cruise.

We have sailed out of Baltimore on the Pride 4 times now. We've sailed in February, March and May and now will be on her in April. Yes they do have a roof over the main pool area. This area now has the big screen for Dive In movies which is under the roof. On our cruises in Feb. and March the roof was closed till we reached our first port. It was plenty warm enough to use the pool with it closed. If it warmed up outside you can always move over to the other pool. That is where the hot tub is now too. It was warm enough in May that it stayed open to and from

Baltimore. I love the Pride and so look forward to sailing on her again in April.

I was on the Pride in May and saw the playlist shows. Having seen shows on Carnival ships for the last 10 years, I can honestly say that I prefer the shows of the past. However, it was nice to see something different. I do miss the live bands though. They would entertain while waiting for the show to start and now it's all piped in. But as others have said go in with an open mind and make your own decision.

Also sailing on the Pride May 3rd. It will be the fourth time but the first with 2.0. We are driving from South Jersey Cape May County. Really enjoying seeing all your pics. Keep it coming. ;)

Jeff, Patti and Ryan that was an excellent review and brought back many pleasant memories. We sailed on the Liberty both before and after 2.0. I must say I did enjoy Guy's Burgers a few times too many. I am so sorry for the loss of your son. We too lost our daughter who was also killed instantly in a car accident. She was 17 and our middle girl. She passed in July of 2003. We took our first "family" cruise in March of 2004 as a means to regroup as a family. It was very theraputic and we have gone every year since. We always feel that she is with us on every cruise in spirit as well. My husband and I also honeymooned on a Carnival ship in 1981, the Mardi Gras. She is no longer in existence and was so much smaller than today's ships. We are looking forward to our 13th Carnival Cruise in May. My thoughts are with you and your family. Know that in time the pain becomes less but never truly goes away. My daughter's pictures are everywhere and she is spoken of often. Her friends still keep in contact with us. We've been to their weddings and they share their family pictures with us. Till you sail again, Bon Voyage.

We will be on the Pride for the fourth time May 3rd, 2015. We are really looking forward to the 2.0 upgrades. Especially the addition of Guys Burger Joint. We were on the Liberty in 2013 and got to experience Guys. May I say it was "delicious". Really enjoying your pictures and review. We are coming from South Jersey which is an easy 2 hour drive but may treat ourselves to a night in Baltimore this time. Maybe at the same hotel you chose.

We are sailing on Carnival Pride on April 6th as a result of the free cabin offer. The offer came to my husband. I too am the one who does all the bookings and planning and blogging etc. But he got the offer. We call our PVP immediately to find out if this was on the up and up. It was, we booked, we're packed. This will be our 12th carnival cruise and only the second one just the two of us since our honeymoon on the Mardi Gras in 1981. We usually do a cruise each year with our girls and their boyfriends and family. Going to be strange just us. He is a casino guy and I like the shows. He drinks, I don't. We are past the souvenir stage and don't do any spa treatments. So we really don't fit any profiles except for the fact that we didn't have a cruise booked for this year because of finances. We did upgrade to a balcony cabin and pre-paid gratuities. So we are cruising 7days in a balcony for less than one person before taxes and gratuities. Not a bad deal at all. Thank you Carnival. ;)

Hello there, funny you mention Rolando. He is my father. He sang for Home Lines from 1968 - 1980. He always talks about what a wonderful time he had singing on the cruises and traveling all over. Every time he talks about his time working on the Oceanic his face lights up!

 

We sailed on the Doric in 1978 and 1979. Rolando's orchestra was our favorite band. We were in the lounge every night. I do still have their album and can still hear them singing Quando, Quando, Quando, Quando. Oh the memories. I remember being in love with the drummer.

This is in anticipation of our cruise in 3 weeks on the Pride. I hope this works.

Mike, this was the most comprehensive, informative review I have ever seen. Your pictures along with the review gave us even more input. We leave NJ on Sunday morning at 8am heading for Baltimore and the Pride. Our excitement level is growing with each passing minute. Thank you so much for all the information. I hope we have as much fun as your family but I hope it's a little warmer than 27 degrees, lol. Bon Voyage.

Hi, I hope you/Mike don't mind if I butt in here. We went to Cocoa Beach last November. Friends of ours moved there, just a few miles from the cruise terminal and they picked us up right there. So I wonder if it's an option for your family to pick you up vs. you taking the shuttle to THEM! Have a great cruise and family visit!

 

Karen, thanks for the response and suggestion. But the problem is they are 4 people in sedan and we are five. They are elderly and only will travel in one car so it's better for us to go to them. :)

We leave in 5 days on the Pride and I have just spent the last two hours reading this entire thread. Your pictures are beautiful. I have a question about Port Canaveral. Carnival offers a round trip shuttle for $16, but you mentioned shuttles for $10. Is that round trip and is it different than the shuttle service through Carnival. We are just going to Cocoa Beach to meet up with my husband's family who live not far from there.

OMG -- I am so glad you answered me! Yes, I have a 27 year-old daughter from that little excursion! I was VERY naive... and I had just turned 17 on that cruise. I was on the cruise with my parents and sister.

 

Oh well, my daughter is a very beautiful italian girl with dark brown hair, big brown eyes and a beautiful smile. A very smart girl too!

 

I also kept a diary while on the cruise.. I just have to dig it out.

 

I would love it if you could get a photo scanned into the computer. It would be so nice of you. Tori would love to see photos.

 

He was just a player! If I only knew then what I know now..... I still have a wonderful daughter (Tori) :D
