The only difference is on the Asian cruises. As the local water is not safe to drink they do use bottled water. We were told that showering/washing faces was fine but if we shaved with a razor or washed our teeth to always use bottled water. That was the case whether we stayed at a hotel or on the boat.

Scenic is all-inclusive. Tips, meals, chose of exclusions and drinks (unless otherwise stated).
Was not expected to Tip and no extra charges for any excursions. Most ports had a choice of 2-4 excursions which you could choose from. Some activities were for everyone but no one was expected to pay for any excursions.

We just completed our Vietnam visa applications via email to the embassy in Ottawa. Filled out the form, attached that along with a copy of our passport, photos and visa charge form and sent it off. Did that on Sept 19th. On the 22nd was told they were done and being sent to us. Expect them to arrive today. Choose canada post and with the processing charge, delivery charge and USD exchange, cost for 2 was $228.53. We only needed single entry and was in no rush. Pretty pleased with how quick it was. Needed to get it one as Scenic was bugging our travel agent for the information. Just have to ensure information is all accurate.

Group meals on very long tables, usually about 20 or 30 people long, and a set menu didn't suit us either.
Curious about the land portion meals and what the set menu was serving? Was it local food or western fair? And how were the hotels?

Also looking for others who have done this or will be doing this trip as well. Planning on going Jan/Feb 2018. Biggest question I have is how were the Visa's arranged for the two countries? I know that you can get ones that can be handled when landing at the airport. But when travelling between the two countries, how was that handled? Would like to avoid having to send passport via mail and no office locally to get it done,

I have been monitoring all the threads regarding water level and trip is coming up soon. I am aware that I likely will have a ship swap halfway through and may not get into downtown Budapest. I am okay with that as at least we still get to be on the river and staying in Budapest at the end, so being 1 hour out of the city is not a huge impact.
To rebook for next year would cost us a lot more IF we could get a room for similar time frame. Looking at the availability there is little room types of the same we booked for without paying at least $1000 more then we paid sticking with Scenic.
That would mean booking for 2017 and who knows what the cost will be then.
As well there are 6 of us going and to rebook we would not likely find a time that would work again for all of us.

I just had an email from Scenic with a link to their drinks:
If that link does not work use this one and read through the info and click on the drink link:
Passau VS excursion to Cesky Krumlov

That is a hard choice. We had changed our mind as we knew we had a couple of longer days coming up and used the chance to see Passau with a walking tour and then on our own. The walking tour showed us various areas where the high flood waters have impacted the city (there is one building near the water that has lines on it and shows how HIGH the water gets) and the one bridge has had water up to the bottom of it. That is an image to stand there and think about. Also learned about the history of the city. We still had time for our own exploration and shopping.
We then did Cesky Kromlov the next day and that was a worthwhile trip. It was a nice drive and the city is beautiful. The buildings were amazing as was the history. There is the usual shopping and check out the city mascot.
I enjoyed both and would be hard to make a decision.
