Has anyone ever been to both the Paradise Cove Luau on Oahu AND Aulii Luau on Kauai? If so, which did you enjoy more? I really want to go to a luau with a beach setting. (We will not have time to go to one in Maui). I know that the Aulii Luau does not have the Imu Ceremony. I feel that is something we would want to see because it is traditional; however, I may be making that into more than it is. Thanks!

There is also a luau at The Polynesian Culture Center that has an Aulii luau, and it has the Imu Ceremony.

  2. We will be cruising with Celebrity to Hawaii in May/2023. Can anyone tell me if the tender with Celebrity runs 24 hrs or what time it stops?

We're looking at an excursion that doesn't return until 10 or 11pm but I want to make sure that we can get back on the ship that late. I'm hoping someone has done this cruise and port. 🤷‍♂️😃

If you are flying out of TO this summer, yes it is a mess. You don't say when you are flying, what airline you are on, what your connecting airports are. If your connecting airport is in Canada, then you won't have to preclear immigration and customs until you arrive there. But if your connecting airport is in the US, then you'll have to preclear in Toronto. Usually the advice for international flights is to arrive 3 hours early. I think you would want to arrive even earlier, especially if your flight is in the morning. And hopefully you have ample time at your connecting airport(s).

Not much you can do about canceled flights other than to monitor the airline site,  and hopefully you've signed up for notifications.  And are flying a couple of days before you sail.

We are flying  the first part of September  and have a connecting flight in Chicago with a 4 hr layover. The flight is with American Airlines. We plan on being at the airport with lots of time to spare. I'd rather sit in the airport for a few hours than miss my flight.

  4. We are Canadian and flying out of Toronto Ontario to Anchorage.

I'm wondering if there are any other Canadians who have flown from Toronto who could fill me in on how bad Toronto airport is. I'm going to try and go with just a carry-on to avoid lost luggage. But I'm worried about cancelled flights etc.

Hoping someone else has done the trip already.😁

  5. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle from the cruise port to the Upper Old Town, in Tallinn, Estonia?

And from the Lower Old Town back to the cruise port. We are hoping to get dropped off in the upper and walk down to the lower town.

I know people have said that it's only about a 25 minute walk, but I'm a senior with bad legs so I want to save my walking for in the old town.

Any help would be appreciated! 🙂

  6. We will be in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas in April, 2022.

What is the best way to get from the cruise port to the Skyride to Paradise Point?

I saw a post that said it was a short walk but according to google map, its an hour walk.

We are booking an excursion, but have lots of time to do the Skyride as well.

It's doable but that is if everything falls in to place.

    Afternoon flight would be safer.

Is your cruise port fll or miami?

Our flight is out of FLL.  They only have the one flight out at 11:40am.

I think it will be best if we stay the night in the area and take a flight the next day.

Thanks for all the help everyone! That's why I love Cruise Critic, people are always willing to help! 😀

  8. We will be flying home from Ft. Lauderdale to Toronto, Canada after our Caribbean cruise .

We have been looking at flights and I'm wondering if someone could tell me  if we get back at 7:00am, would a flight at 11:40am be doable?

The airport isn't very far from the cruise port.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  9. Can anyone please tell me the easiest way to see Amsterdam and it's history for someone with walking issues.

Most of the tours I see are walking or bike. Neither of these will work for me. (I can do some walking but not for long periods of time)

Is the HOHO bus the best idea? We plan to do a canal tour, but also want to see the city.

Also, if I buy the tickets on line for the HOHO, do I still have to go to Central Station to start my tour or can I start from the closest pick up to our hotel?

Any help with this would be very appreciated. 🙂

I hope everyone is staying safe!

Moose I do hope you won't need to cancel anything, neither do we. At some point this mess should end!

I hope you are correct and it does end soon. We are from Ontario, Canada and our numbers are lower where we live. Not many cases at all. But the bigger cities still have just under 100 cases per day. I've heard that our Canada/USA borders might not open until the middle or late 2021. 😲😲 I hope they are wrong.

We are keeping our fingers crossed too. Planning nowadays is probable the toughest task.

I agree about the planning. I have booked all of our hotels, excursions and our flight. All can be cancelled if we need to, but I'm hoping that doesn't happen.

Moose, if your travel includes the Nordics, you will also need Swedish, Norwegian and Danish Kronas 🙂 However to my knowledge in these countries in most cases it is possible to add tips to a credit card bill

Yes, I will be buying money for these countries as well. The exchange isn't as hard on my pocketbook though. 🤣😂

I still have my fingers crossed that our cruise will be able to go next May. 🤞

I found the walking tour that we used on our first visit to Tallinn. It provides walking directions from port, hits all of the high points of the old town & includes photos. If you would like a copy of the PDF, email me (address included in signature).

I can't seem to see where your email address is located. I would like a copy of the PDF. Can you please explain where I would find your "Signature"

Just a few threads down from this one is one called Questions on Tallin Old Town which should have some helpful information for you.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Thank you for your help. I did find an answer to a couple of things. But I didn't see if there was a shuttle service.

  15. Can anyone who has been to Tallinn tell me if there is a shuttle service that goes from the cruise port to The Old Town?

Also, does it go to the upper old town?

And if we got dropped off at the upper old town, where would be dropped off?

I'm trying to decide if we should do a tour or do it on our own. I know it's a 10-15 min. Walk but just wondering if there is a shuttle.

For those of you familiar with Toms Port Guides, I see that he has now added his Saint Petersburg guide to his free PDFs. Lots of useful information - we used his port guide to Lisbon several years ago and it was an invaluable source of information - spot on.

    Link to Saint Petersburg guide:

Lots of information and tour recommendations here:

  17. Thanks everyone for all your posts. I think I will get a small amount for each port, just for tips and a few souvenirs. I can always use.

The British Pound and Euro are the ones that I will cry when I buy! 😭 They are at a very high exchange rate.

I guess it's the price you pay if you want to see the world! 😄

  18. I have read many reviews about using credit card and not taking cash for our cruise.

We will be going to Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Germany and Russia on our cruise.

We always tip our tour guides. We are from Canada, and some of the exchange rates are very high.

My question is, do I need to buy the local currency for each place to pay for tips? And how much is a good amount to tip for an excursion?

I've read that they don't expect tips as much in Europe, but we will still tip them for their tour.

    Any advice would be helpful!
