  1. From wife on board - Enchantment OTS headed back to Galveston with a medical emergency. First and foremost, I hope the affected party will fully recover. Secondly, with the propulsion issues she's been having, will they even be ale to make it Cozumel on time?

I'll provide updates if I receive them.

  2. We are standing in an endless line for self disembarkation. I am a platinum cruiser who has done this many times. They are blaming it on customs but there is no reason to leave us standing here with no where to even sit down because customs has slowed down. I have back issues as well as most people in my party. And now they are calling people in front of us and leaving is standing here. We had a wonderful vacation but this isn't how I wanted to end it. Royal Caribbean hasn't even explained the issue one time over the intercom. Several employees have walked past without saying anything. I finally was able to flag one down and ask her. One employee even ignored our question.

  3. I've been in 1700 on Liberty, and have both 1700 & 1400 booked for an upcoming cruise on Liberty. The infamous "Stripper Pole" cabins are the best value onboard. Aside from a small corner that is at an angle, they're the same size as a JS. Huge balcony, with 2 tables, chairs & loungers, along with plenty of space to move about. Book 'em! You won't be disappointed!

  4. Just off Freedom with Marty Gast. In my previous cruises, my DW and I spent little time inside the piano bars. They were kinda like the disco on a HAL ship about 1 AM. This cruise we stumbled by to check it out, and ended up closing the place down. The place was packed nightly, and the audience seemed to be having as much fun participating as Marty was in entertaining us. He was a pretty darn good piano player (although he needs to work on his Scott Joplin ragtime stuff! ;)) , funny, and an absolute joy to watch and listen to. Handled all our requests with ease, and entertained us immensely. We couldn't have had more fun. Hats off to Marty for a job very well done!

  5. Ok, I am new to this site so forgive me if I am asking questions that have already been answered.

My family is booked for the Sept. 30th cruise. We have 5 children so we had to get 2 connecting staterooms. Our rooms are 1116 and 1118.

Is the coffee bar an additional charge? (I am addicted to Caramel Macchiatos and when I heard they had "something similiar to Starbucks" I knew I had to ask!)

There is a coffee bar, and it is extra charge. They had some of the best on board.

Are there many children in the main dining rooms? My husband and I are determined to take the kids in there for dinner but we also don't want to be "that family".

Coincedentaly my mom, her husband and some of their friends are going on the same cruise. How do you find out if you are in the same dining room as another passenger?

The dining rooms are full of kids, especially at the early seatings. When you got your S&S card, you'll have your dining room and time listed. If you want/need to change it, see the Maitre'd as soon as you get onboard.

I have heard about several complaints about Jamaica. I really wanted to do the Dunns River Falls excursion but a 2 hour bus ride? Is it really worth it to sit on a bus for 4 hours?? Are there any other suggestions?

Consider going to Mayfield Falls. I did this tour with a-zjamaicaplanners in March, and had a wonderful time. About 1 hour ride, and a very relaxing trip for the family. See the Jamaica Port Of Call board for more info.

I heard you could bring a "reasonable amount of coke products" onboard. Does anyone have a suggestion? 1 or 2 - 12 packs good per cabin?

I think a 12 pack per person is reasonable. It's only 2 cokes a day for a 7 day cruise.

Hope all this helps. You and your family will have a wonderful time. I've got photos of the Conquest, and Mayfield Falls at http://travel.webshots.com/album/558523980kpzrsC?vhost=travel

  6. i guess you might say i had a not so favorable review...but it was ok. it was our first cruise. first off, the whole point of these boards are for everyone to post their opinions..."their" opinions...not yours. so if you don't agree, so be it....... after realying my info to fellow cc member, we were asked to join them. then that all changed! had we not changed dinner times and locations, we would still be complaining about how poor the service was...... our cabin steward was not the best. was he bad? no, not really, he just wasn't what i expected. only 2 towel animals...after requesting just because i had read on here about everyone's experiences with them. ..... just remember, the point is to let everyone have an idea, some expectation. just because my experience is different from yours, it does not mean my experience is wrong nor yours. they are only opinions, and to each his own.

I think the 2 most important people you'll encounter on a cruise are your Waiter and Cabin Steward. If both of those people are efficient, capable and hard-working employees, your enjoyment of your cruise is much more likely. However, if there job performance is less than efficient (perhaps they're new or untrained, simply overworked) you'll sway your opinion the other way. It's unfortunate they can't all be 100% outstanding. It is the luck of the draw.

Your dining experience is a perfect example of that good vs. not-so-good waiter. They were polar opposites of each other in efficiency, attention to detail, and interaction to make your cruise a trip you'll always remember. Not to mention the tablemates you got to enjoy. :D
