I would like to know the answer to this as well. :confused:Just a quick question, I have read this thread and still have no idea why these would be printed and placed on your door. Is there some benefit to doing it or does it just make it easier to find your room?
Also, make more than one. There are the gremlins that will steal them as a memento or hoping to miff you in some way.

I would like to know the answer to this as well.
Cruisers get to know each other on these boards before the cruise in the sailing date threads as well as the Meet and Mingle threads. The door signs are a fun way to ID each other on the cruise as well as readily identifying your door in a long hallway of identical doors. Handy when you're in a hurry, a bit 'fuzzy' after a fun evening in the piano bar, or you're old like me and can't remember where you live!:D

Hi my name is Lindia and my husbands name is Jack, we signed up for Meet & Mingle last weekend Numbers 25 & 26, at the time you only had 24 people.. Never signed up for this before. I Have cruised 4 times and this will be jacks third cruise. What is Meet & Mingle?? Sorry it took so long to post but had a problem because I changed my email address and Cruise Critic had to sort it all out...
Quite simply, the Meet and Mingle is an opportunity to meet and mingle with other Cruise Critic users, many of whom you will meet online in your sailings bulletin board postings. We spent an enjoyable half hour or so with everybody who signed up, there was food and drink along with door prizes. After the official meeting a few of us spent the rest of the morning chatting and sharing. It was very pleasant, indeed.

Since It's in Adobe, there is very little you can do with it unless you have a strong graphics program. It gets a tad convoluted, but you can print it, scan it as a picture, then do some cut and paste work on the sign to make it however you want it. Bring in other graphics, ect.
Of just make your own sign. But take several copies as these things tend to grow legs and wander off.

Howdy, friends and neighbors, Bassnote_1 here with an updated link to some door signs. Both of the free hosting sites are (or have) shut down or go to a pay by the month feature. Being cheap, I've moved them to a folder provided by my ISP that should remain functional as long as I do! Given the current state of things, that particular number is also declining.
Anyway, here is the new location: Door Signs! The actual URL is very long and complicated or I'd post the whole thing.
Anyway, there are three signs in there. One is a custom sign I made for a friends upcoming 10-4 Southern Caribbean on the Adventure of the Seas. The other two are the Original CruiseCritic.com sign and a new and improved Version.
All three have a text box added to them that you can type whatever data you'd like to share (remember, even creepy stalkers take cruises, too). You may need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat to make the magic work, but that is free for the taking from here. If you are having any troubles downloading the sign or whatever, just contact me via email and I'll send you the bloomin' thing! :D
Anyway, enjoy your upcoming cruises (you lucky dogs, you) and have a great day!

Here are the links to the original RCI Meet and Mingle Door signs that I host. They keep getting buried and hard to find. You will need Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or higher to make them work!
http://www.geocities.com/bassnote_1/doorsign.pdf
or
http://dkinner.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/doorsign.pdf
Both sites are exactly the same, I provide two of them because they do go wonky from time to time.
Now, get out there, and take me with you! :D

:p Heck no. Better to get a room and a car

I can't get either of your links to show the sign. I get onto each page but when i click it doesn't come up. Help!
Hey, Floflegs, sometimes the sites get a bit wonky but I just tested them and got it to work just fine. You might try it again and make sure that you have acrobat reader installed. You can install it for free at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
If you still can't get the websites to work send me at email at Bassnote1@gmail.com and I will send you the file direct. You will still need acrobat installed to open it.
Let me know how else I can help!
Get out there!!!

I tried grits again on my last cruise (my first experience with grits was very disappointing, as the chef made them with way too much salt) and enjoyed them.
Good grits are an art. And I am throughly convinced that it takes a true Southern Granny to make really good grits. :p

So tell me about these Meet & Mingles. Is it a formalized party or just people finding a place to meet and not necessarily sanctioned by the cruiseline? Are families invited even if the whole family doesn't post?
yes, the whole family can come. They are "informal" parties where folk from Cruise Critic (who often have met from posting on the boards) get together for snacks, beverage, and to talk. RCI will often provide some door prizes and stuff.
It was fun meeting people who you know online face to face.
-
(and MAN it's slow loading!)
No kidding! The site has gotten slower than my kids at chore time.:D
But, yeah, arrange your own get together. And if you let somebody know when and where you might get some snacks served, but nothing official.
And, don't be too upset if not many show up. Of the 75 signed up for our M&M only 20 or so showed up. People get busy and what not...
Put up a sign anyway!!!
Happy Crusin'

Great job, Aldewitt! Choices are always nice! :)
I am bumping this one up for the folk who don't have Word. It is a pdf (Adobe) file that I changed to be easily edited. The other links have gotten buried down there a ways.
http://geocities.com/bassnote_1/ Or http://dkinner.tripod.com/cruisinwyo.html
I am still trying to get permission to use the logos and stuff and do some others for X and some other lines.:(

Also, can't find the door sign template that I can download. ????
Hey, Bassethound!
Go to post #34 and I have links to the doorsigns that are on my websites. I don't have the nametag templates or I would put them on there as well.
You will need Adobe Acrobat to open the file, type your name on the line and print that lil growler out! If you have issues, email me at Bassnote_1@yahoo.com and I will email the file to you.
There are two sites that you can choose from, the Geocities site doesn't allow alot of transfer so you might have to use the other one.
Happy Sailing and GET OUT THERE!!!

smoked salmon and dill/mushroom/cheese omlette. Dining room is best place to eat if you have the time. Windjammer if not. Fruit in the Windjammer with a muffin.
-
Bassnote, how did you modify the adobe file excellent job
Pete
I simply used Adobe to create a form field that can be filled out once it is loaded. I am working on some other door signs, but have never heard from CC if I can use the logos or not and I suppose I should ask permission to use RCI and X logos as well. ;)
-
Please come back...
I would like to have a copy of the door sign for the Celebrity cruises too! "Please and Thank You" up front!!!
I am waiting to hear from CC if this is doable. I will host it on my sites and use my artwork, but the CC logo and X logo and stuff is the stickler.
-
Is there any way you could alter the door sign for your fellow cruisers over at Celebrity?Could you substitute "Celebrity Connections" for Meet and Mingle. The door signs are a great idea but we have do not have one as yet-since you did a great job on the meet and mingle,is it possible? Thanks
for your time
PS We have over 112 for our cruise critic party on the Constellation 10/17/05
I'll see what I can do! I actually stole this one from Laura :D and just converted it. I will see if I can get her permission and then let 'er rip.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I am looking for these to hand out to everyone at my meet and mingle in Oct. Thanks in advance!!!:D
RCI provided name tags for us along with a 'passport' holder that went around our necks. We wrote our names and screennames on them. This was on the Splendour in February this year.
I was pretty disappointed in the turnout for the MM, but those that did show had a pretty good time and the snacks were great.

Here are updated links to the doorsigns for the Meet and Mingle
http://www.geocities.com/bassnote_1
or you can also try
http://dkinner.tripod.com/cruisinwyo.html
You will need Adobe 6.0 or higher to open and put your name on them and you may have to turn off your popup blocker for a moment on the Geocities site.
If you encounter any problems you can e-mail me at Bassnote_1@yahoo.com and I will help you out.
You can download a free copy of Acrobat http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
at that link.
GET OU THERE!

Can you email me this? I can't access those links from work and that's where I need to print it at! Thanks, Renee
I need your addy. The link in your profile is turned off so I can't send it that way. Send me an email to bassnote_1@yahoo.com and I will get it off to you.

The sign is on my 'puter at work, but I posted a couple of links to it. I modified the sign so you just have to type your name above the line and print it out!
You can find the post on this page.

Most people put their CC screen name on the door sign, or a cute message rather than their real name.
