  1. Has anyone taken the Celebrity Solstice tour after the cruise that takes you to the Space Needle and Chihuly Museum and then takes you to the airport? It's a 3 hour tour, starting at 8:30 and your plane has to depart after 2:00. Our plane leaves at 2:25 and I'm curious as to how early you get to the airport. I was wondering because of traffic, etc. and possible lines at the airport. This would be Friday before Labor Day, so I'm not sure of crowds at the airport.

Would it just be better to go right to the airport and skip the tour to get to the airport in plenty of time. I hate not being familiar with airports/ports/cities.

    Thank you

We did this tour 3 years ago and it was great. I am sorry I don't remember the exact times, but we were at the airport in plenty of time. I see your point that it cuts it a little close since we like to get to the airport early, too. I would do the tour. The airport is not far.

  2. At Cape Liberty, how does luggage work in regard to dropping it off and the parking garage. Want to be prepared and also want the least possible hassle/walk/etc.

Parking garage is really close to terminal. You can pull up to luggage drop off and check it with the curbside porters. Then, you get back into your car and drive to adjacent parking garage. Park your car, get your ticket, and walk back to terminal building with your carry on. New terminal is very convenient.

  3. I love kids - have three and three grandkids. Sailed with my youngest since he was 3. So take this in the spirit it is intended (helpful advice) - if you are concerned about your child having an accident in the pool, please keep them out. Even if they are wearing a swim diaper and are allowed to do so against regulations, swim diapers do not really keep a pool sanitary. If they had a #2 accident even if it remains in the diaper then the water is contaminated, period. I understand it is hard to deny a child the opportunity, but there is a reason for it. I have read of some cruisers taking along a small blow-up pool for their own balconies but not sure if that would really work.

We brought a small blow up pool for one year old 4 years ago. Crew was amazingly helpful to us. I put it between our chairs, but when they spied it, they filled it and emptied it for us. We also used it to let baby play with toys unfilled.

Since you asked, I wouldn't put a swim diaper on a fully potty trained child. I understand your thinking, but it sends the wrong message.

  4. It's easy to take public transportation in Bermuda I.e. the bus or ferry. We rarely take excursions, but we did enjoy a catamaran snorkeling trip one time and loved a kayak trip another time. We mostly go to the beach. We have been to Horseshoe Bay many times and appreciate it's beauty. We love the calm waters of the much smaller Tobacco Bay to relax and that is our go to beach.

  5. Yes Spa Cafe remains the same. Grilled salmon is excellent!

I love the grilled salmon at the Spa cafe. That's my go to lunch most days, but I always plan to have a burger at least once. I used to love the Mast grill burgers. My first thought was that I would never pay in principle. However, I might buy a small one to compare to the included (not free) burgers from the Oceanview cafe.

  6. Celebrity has no comparable app. If you have Wifi you can use any platform you wish.

Considering the average age of the typical Celebrity cruiser, I can understand why it wouldn't be a priority.

@jeremiah1212 Who do you think invented the technology of today? Some snowflake millennial? Oh wait, that's discriminatory like your statement. I apologize. No need to stereotype. We are more alike because we love cruising.

  7. Hello everyone, my husband and I have finally decided to cruise a new line and are booked on the Equinox in February. We are doing our research and have noticed that we seem to be the only ones who have booked an inside stateroom. We have cruised before, and we never spend time in our cabins except for sleeping and getting ready for the day. We also don't need drink packages as we don't drink soda and rarely an alcoholic drink. Hoping we can get some confirmation that we will enjoy our vacation on Celebrity without having an upgraded cabin and drinking all day.

I will claim the PP title. Husband and I have sailed Celebrity 8 times with 9 and 10 booked. We have had an inside, balcony, aqua, and sky suite.

I would book an inside in a second for the chance to cruise. While we loved our suite and Luminae we had a really good price and probably wont book again as they are higher.

Our next cruise is a balcony that we got for the same price as an inside. Promotion.

    We look for the deals.

We never had the drink package because it did not work out to our advantage. If there was a promotion we took tips or on board credit.

We don't need bottled water on the ship. The dispensers are fine especially in Aqua cafe where they are infused with lemon/lime.

I fill a glass with ice and pour my minty tea in it for a very refreshing ice tea. They have a selection and hubby prefers Earl Grey.

My husband is up early and secures our favorite spot on deck. No, we are not chair hogs. He sits there and we take turns getting our breakfast from buffet to bring back to our spot. We take short walks or a dip in T pool and back to our spot. So there is really no need for a balcony for us on a Caribbean itinerary since he likes to be on deck.

Enjoy. I love cruising and I love Celebrity.

  8. Maybe I'll give up my stilettos when I was 29, 30 years ago. In the meantime, I'll enjoy wearing those red-soled lovelies and will wear them for as long as I can. My husband sure isn't complaining!

I am a shoe lover (at least that's what they call me at DSW because thanks for keeping us in business would seem tacky) and I'm a bit jealous of your red sole Louboutins. If I had them, I would surely "suck it up and wear them". My husband would also love them.

The op asked a question about flats or dressy flip flop type shoes and my answer is though my stiletto days are over, I would still wear a heel with a cocktail type dress. You can find cute kitten heel sandals on Amazon by Nine West Leisa in a variety of colors . Louise et Cie Esperance is a lower heel that are very comfortable I love both these have walked the ship in the evening all night.

There are cute stacked heel dressier type shoes. I am thinking of getting a pair of Sam Edelman for my upcoming cruise.

Thirty years ago I was thirty two, but I can still rock a pair of stilettos if I wanted.

    Have fun everyone.

  9. I've been told numerous times that Uber/Lyft cannot pick up at the Airport ? Also people in my roll call say that they ended up paying around the same with Uber for other trips (from hotel to port) that they would have paid with a taxi..... So for those of you who are saying to use Uber, do you know for a fact that they are allowed to pick up inside the airport in NJ?

We used Uber at Newark airport 2 weeks ago. It was very easy. Our driver met us in minutes outside arrivals at baggage claim. We paid 41 dollars for the trip from airport to Staten Island. You can check the cost before fro EWR to cruise port.

  10. Good morning Debbie,

Thankx for the shout out and especially being so gracious to share your sailaway with us! I find it so unbelievable how anyone can treat you and your family that way. Y'all are so gentile and friendly! Fortunately I stayed away from the pool so we were not subjected to that. :D

I found a lot of rude people on this cruise...more so than any other cruise I've been on. Maybe because it was so crowded. You know like the experiments where they put too many rats in a cage? :p Or probably due to the short duration of 7 days.

Of course there were a lot of nice friendly ones as well. So that made up for the "rude northerners" ;) Overall we had a very good cruise.

I was told the ship is considered full (100% occupancy) when there are two people for every cabin. Then when you add a third or fourth that increases occupancy to more than considered full. But yes they must have a lifeboat seat for all souls on board.

One of the crew told me these last two sailings were the most booked of the entire Bermuda season.

PS we had a stowaway who's been on the ship the last four months. The bar staff named her Pina Colada. She stayed mostly on our balcony.

Here she was relaxing with my DW on the next chair prior to sailaway.

    "Northeners" are rude? Please explain.

  11. I use Garnier micellar water. Cheap, gentle, the lasts a long time, really works. I bring some Target oval pads for eyes. They are bigger but sometimes I'll use it with ELF wipes. Then. I wash my entire face with gentle foaming cleanser like Cerave.

  12. I agree that in my late 40s, it can be challenging to find the right balance between being stylish and being age-appropriate, without trying to look in my 20s or too matronly.

For career wear, I usually shop Ann Taylor (petites) for dresses, blouses, skirts, etc. For more casual wear, I tend to do the rounds at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, and sometimes Beall's Outlet. On occasion, I shop at Macy's (love the 1-day sales!).

I live in south Florida, so it is always hot. I love maxi dresses, because I have trouble finding shorts at an appropriate length; they are either way too short or way too long.

I just signed up for Stitch Fix, filled out my style profile, but have yet to set up any shipments. I like that I only pay for the items I keep. Has anyone used Stitch Fix, and if so, what was your experience like?

I learned about Stitch Fix from this board and thought I would look it up as I had never heard of it. Signed up and received my first box. At first look, I wasn't really sure the pieces were me. Tried everything on and fell in love. I bought all 5 pieces! Everything fit and looked so nice. I hope it wasn't beginners luck because I scheduled a "fix" for some fall pieces in September.

  13. @hlitner why do you assume that the lady who told you was a suite guest who feels entitled? This is prejudiced. I have sailed in a a suite and have enjoyed the amenities that come with this booking. I have sailed in an inside cabin and enjoyed myself just as much. I prefer the suite. I also like saving money or booking a verandah to sit with friends and family in MDR. BUT, I am the same considerate person no matter what cabin I book.

There are rude people in all categories, but there are more kind considerate people. Who wants to read I had a good time and everyone was nice?

I was on the cruise with the person complaining about the chair hogs. He was right. It was rampant. However, he is also a whiner who exaggerated other situations. His table mates informed me of his other tirades and imagined slights.

Yes, Suite passengers receive and enjoy certain amenities. Never once did I not enjoy a cruise when I didn't receive those amenities because I didn't pay for them.

  14. We were on the Solstice last May and tendering in Juneau was horrible. They blamed it on rough seas. We had a ships excursion booked and were a hour late. Adding insult to injury our tour guide said the tour would be cut short because we were late and they were at the pier waiting. I asked if we be getting some money back. No? We got the whole tour. It was our guides first day and that was her only goof. It was a wonderful tour. Rainforest and whale watching.

  15. We like the S2 suite on Celebrity and like the location of our canons on upcoming cruises just a bit behind middle. For perks, we like the capuccino espresso service though if you have a drinks package it is moot. The perk that really convinced us to upgrade to suite is the new restaurant S2 is eligible. S2 is not eligible for Michaels club. I think Celebrity suite and higher and Zenith cc members. I think MDR is fine and usually have a veranda cabin when traveling with family. However, I am looking forward to the service in Luminae because we loved Blu when we had the opportunity to try last year. We could go anytime though we tended to still go at 6 and service was quicker. My daughters love RCCL best but also enjoy Celebrity when they are with us. What's not to like? It's cruising.

  16. We went May 16 last year and had a great time. We wore sweaters under rain proof medium weight fleece lined jackets that we bought at Ketchikan Trading Co. at the dock for $20 they were perfect especially on balcony when it was chilly and rainy. We were never cold and could remove them in the warmer sunnier days. We also had comfortable water resistant Timberlines. Check websites that give you average temps. The other poster mentioned winter coat and that makes me think of large parka type coat and you don't need that.

We loved going in May, but I will consider going in summer to see more wildlife.

  17. We have sailed Celebrity for many years and there are always children on board. Celebrity cruise has the Fun Factory and their kids program get rave reviews and the staff are well trained and attentive. One cruise we didn't even know that many kids were on board until we saw them eating ice cream together in the buffet with the camp counsellors.

Last summer, we cruised with our 1 year old granddaughter and were treated royally by the staff. Since she was too young for the pool we brought a little blow up pool and put it between our deck chairs. We were trying to be unobtrusive, but the pool staff insisted on filling it and even emptying it each day. At designated times we took her to the Fun Factory to play with the toddler toys when the camp kids were out and about doing activities. At dinner her chicken strips and fries appeared instantly and when she became restless one of the family members took her out for s walk. At no time did we feel anything other than valued guests with our little one.

Celebrity isn't an adults only cruise line. If you are having a good time, then your kids will have a good time.

If someone gives you the stink eye just because you have kids then give them the stink eye right back. No. Don't do that. That terrible advice. Just smile and enjoy. It goes by so fast.
