  1. We used him not through Uber on return- contacted directly :o

I'm new to Uber...just downloaded the ap. We will be a party of 3 arriving in FLL in November and would appreciate Fritz's contact info if you're willing to share.

    Thank you.

  2. We sail on Sunday from Baltimore on Carnival & were advised via official email today the Freeport is now open for business & our planned stop at Freeport in 11/11/16 is on schedule. Hope this info helps. We were planning on a ship sponsored excursion to Lucas Resort, but their website has the resort still "offline & not accepting reservations"- so I guess that's off the table for now.

  3. I am sailing on the sunshine out of new York on Saturday. I am assuming we should have no issues going to Canada with hurricane Matthew but if there was an issue when would we hear by?

Hi Ariana-I recognized your screen name. We (Bill & Susan from NJ) sailed with you & Trevor on the Breakaway this past 2/28. Our next is 11/6 on the Pride. Hoping the weather holds out for your sailing. Heading North should be OK-fingered crossed for you both. Not sure how I'm going to survive a cruise without 2am chicken wings fix... Wish me luck :)

    Enjoy your cruise!

  4. sailing on a cruise ship was on the Jubilee 3/17/1991 for our Honeymoon. We flew from NJ to CA for a "once in a lifetime" opportunity of taking a cruise. It was the Mexican Riviera itinerary.

Fast forward to our 25th/Silver wedding anniversary this past March. We finished up our 25th cruise and am currently pre-packing for our Carnival Pride sailing in a few weeks; number 26. The "cruise bug" bit and remains our preferred method of pleasure travel.

I am sad to see the old girl pending demise. I will plan on watching our honeymoon FunTime VHS (yes, I THINK I have an old VHS player in the basement somewhere) and recall her fondly with a few fingers of good bourbon.

  5. We have stayed at the Best Western Plus BWI/Elkridge 5 times-3 pre-cruise stays & 2 pre-flight stays. Safe parking, clean hotel, decent breakfast and a GREAT shuttle service. Their Sail & Park or Fly & Park deal is the way to go. We have never not gotten a shuttle (which runs 24 hours to the airport) when we wanted it nor had to wait. We reserved our shuttle when we checked in- you can not reserve it before check in- and have had a perfect track record. Call the hotel directly ( not through toll free reservations number) and ask what the earliest shuttle to the pier is though. Most likely they will have a shuttle going there for a pickup for returning cruise passengers but you may want to head over early for your FTTF.

Incidentally- we always book our pre-trip stays through an online site named trinity reservations dot com. 5 flawless transactions with them and their rates are better than through BW directly. Additionally, this hotel just underwent renovations in the past 18 months and shares a parking lot with the Stained Glass Pub,which is a nice place for a casual dinner or drinks w/o having to drive. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are plusses too. Note this is NOT anywhere close to downtown or Inner Harbor, but the complimentary shuttle is available to those locations for you.

  6. Can anyone comment if the Thermal Suite spa is available for use during sailaway? I was hoping to plant our tails in the therapy pool or a lounger to watch sailaway from the Thermal Suite. I read somewhere they offer Thermal Suite walk-thru's and tours for guests on embarkation day. I'd rather not be getting changed in the locker room while hoards of people file through with their GoPro's.

Also, what hours is the TS open? I set my clock for a half hour before sunrise, walk a few laps on deck and would like to go to the spa afterwards. Thanks in advance.

  7. How far out is your cruise? NCL has been gradually adding fees to many things that were previously complimentary, with no notice to passengers and no grandfathering in of people who booked when things were previously included. The Aqua Park & Sports Complex are included for now, but that could certainly change at any time with no notice.

Can you give examples of the above? What was added fee after the fact? I'm sailing soon and HATE surprises. Especially since NCL seems (IMHO) to nickel and dime you to death with "extras" that are complimentary with other lines. Thanks in advance.

  8. Just off the Breakaway 14 day also. Hate to confirm it, but the prime ribs are gone. Didn't know about the changes when I went to O' Sheehans looking for the pot pie that so many people had raved about and it was gone.

Say it ain't so- no more prime rib ANYWHERE?..or are you specifically speaking of the famous "embarkation night O'S's prime rib special"?

I was so looking forward to that & the pot pies. To me, that's even more dire than slow service and lengthy adult beverage refill times. Drats.

  9. Debbie,

If you're still answering questions, do you recall which nights were the Norwegians Night Out (what I understand to be the one more formal night) and the White Out Party night?

My DH wants to know if there is Lobster offered for no charge in any of the complimentary dining venues? If not, we'll order that at either Le Bistro or Cagneys.

    Thanks!

  10. Welcome back. Can you tell me how the music on the ship was? Which venue had the best live music (Centrum or Schooner bar?).

Was they any standout entertainment that would be suitable for children (5-14 years old) you would reccomend?

I am hoping there is a piano bar for sing-alongs (I think the Schooner Bar hosts these). Some of my family group is interested in Karaoke. Do you recall seeing that offered anywhere?

I'm THRILLED to have the aeriel show back. This ship is a smaller one & I'm hopeful most in my group will find something that interests them.

Thank you in advance for any questions you can assist with.

  11. Sailing a smaller, older ship like Grandeur, this was one of the few unique entertainment venues to look forward to. She has nowhere near the bells & whistles the larger (excluding the Mega ships)of other classes. I don't imagine they will replace that "show's" times slot with something else. We're so disappointed. I understand the safety issue but I've read reviews where the Vegas Style shows on GotS are old & not very good. I guess there's always the casino.

  12. Has anyone done Chef's Table on the Pride recently? I understand there is (FINALLY!) a new menu, and was wondering if it had reached the Pride yet.

We just did the Chef's Table last week. It was the highlight of our trip. Let's see if I can upload some pics!

  13. ...for all the suggestions. We DID request traditional seating at the early seating as we have 5 kids under 5 years old. We were told it wasn't available/ booked already. The whole situation

doesn't sound right to me. We're far enough from the sail date at this point.

Also, while preferred, we do not REQUIRE seats close by each other but the expectation of having the family dine at the same time in the same place I really think should be the minimum expectation.

We will contact the dining department via email as suggested & ask the agent to

work on this matter as well.

  14. We don't expect, or quite honestly WANT to go to shows or lounges or the pool together. Our idea for these group vacations is that the various family/ age groups all if their own thing but meet up for a family dinner. We've always done if that way.

Were also not asking to be together, side by dude- just at the same time, same place. We swap table mates so we can compare excursions, share experiences & make loose plans on who's doing what in the evening. I can't imagine that this far out they can't at least te us we can all eat at, say 6:30, at the same venue.

Our last group cruise with the family was 5 years & 2 spouses & 4 kids ago :)

If Carnival can make it happen, I'm disappointed RC can't / won't.

Thanks for the link to RCLDINING. It's worth a shot before we start handing in our deposits.

  15. Hi!

We narrowed down several cruise options and my family group of 32-38 people decided to go with a sailing next JUNE on the Grandeur. While our family representative was speaking with our agent (large national chain that I'm not at LIBERTY to divulge)- he was told that due to the line aligning with the NCL's Freestyle dining, our option of dining together (same time/same place/somewhat close to each other) was during "ANYTIME" DINING at 8:30pm BUT that there are only 18 seats available at this time & seats will probably open to accomodate our group, but no guarantees...

Has anyone had this kind of experience or does anyone have advice? Not dining together nightly for our 4 generation family is a deal breaker. We held a family vote (no easy task with 10 families) and chose this line/cruise. It's disappointing we can not dine at the same time and earlier than 8:30- our ages are from 84-1.5 years. Carnival will accomodate our family in their traditional dining option, early seating, but majority ruled & we want to sail Royal Caribbean.

    Help!!

  16. For what it's worth, I did a Cruise Critic search for Baltimore hotels with stay/park specials this morning. I came up with a hint saying avoid the Russell St/stadium area as it is "sketchy at night". The posts were from the 2012/2013 date range. I wish I could link it here- but use the forum search tool for more info. The HI Express was what we were looking at and decided against it- so here I am searching again. I'm concerned about secure parking not at the cruise terminal, so we might just forget coming in the night before & drive to the pier the morning of (from NJ). I'll be doing more research & pass on anything else I see. Good luck.
