  1. Hi,

We are wanting to book a "fun" cruise either over Christmas Day or NY

last year we were cruising with Celebrity on Christmas Day , and apart from a few carols, and a slightly christmasy menu there was no other celebrations, it felt like we missed christmas almost.

not coming from the UK xmas day is HUGE event, and all other hotels etc or vacations weve been on have made a huge fuss (which we love)

has anyone else sailed with NCL / Carnva or Royal Carbbean ?

i assumed maybe these more party style ships may make more of a fuss and special day

  2. hi,

im looking at drinks packages and trying to weight it all up

there is a standard package (drinks up to $6) which i can find hardly any info on ?

we thought the classic would suit us , we drink beer / wine and happy with basic cocktails.

but on the standard it says inc cocktails upto $6 ..... is there any ? i find it hard to imagine there is !

  3. Quite sad to read this - although we have never been on Magic (I'm looking to go at Christmas) we've just returned from our second carnival cruise and also went on Anthem of the seas in March for a friends wedding , we much preferred the older carnival ship to the Royal caribbeans . We love carnivals friendly staff that makes my cruise for me being surrounded by happy people . The Royal Caribbean staff were bullied by their managers and not allowed to interact with us , it ruined our cruise .

Hoping to test out magic soon

  4. We did not enjoy the shows on board. There were four of us and we all felt the same. We will rock you is for lack of a better word "stupid". The story line is horrible. Being a Queen fan I did enjoy the music. We did not walk out on this one. The Gift and Spectre Cabaret were so horrible we walked out part way through.... As did many other people. The cast of WWRY also did a variety show sing cover songs of various artists. It was awful! We followed many others as we walked out about 10 minutes into the show.

Totally agree with you - there were 9 of us travelling and we all hated and I mean hated the shows,

I'm guessing that they just were not our taste but we will rock you was a disaster , 2 of the girls could sing well the main guy not so much but the whole story was appalling and we'll just crazy. There was a good 50 people leave within the first 20 mins of our show and we gave it 40 mins and left

We saw spectras cabaret and well that certainly was not to my taste .

We didn't watch the gift after realising we disliked the other shows so thought someone else may as well take our place

  5. I find it quite amazing the amount of people who have replied and think it's their given right to "pay" and not care ,

these staff who as I mentioned do an amazing job - work all day , not an 8hr day with a family to see at night or weekend off or day off that because you have paid for this service then it's fine that they don't get to properly speak to another human , colleagues or customer for more than a yes / Thankyou/ hello .

I'm afraid we are not seeing US / UK /Canadian etc doing these lower jobs as they are all working for better wages doing the less hourly jobs of dancing , singing and laughing with the fellow cruisers ,

the Asian guy who will Be getting paid far less serving all day in wind jammer didn't get to talk properly than being a subservient human all day , every day , for 7 solid months of his working day ?

Yes I understand many cruise lines workers work the same work and shift patterns but they have had time to talk and almost have the confidence to talk that they won't be told off and by talking a mean a friendly few words than "Thankyou I don't need a drink" morning " can I have some water " etc. (P.s to the reply why are you wanting to make friends with the workers and not fellow cruisers I'm the type of person who is happy to make friends with anyone from any background)

To me i felt they were not as happy as other workers on other cruise lines , I'm not blaming RC totally at the end of the day maybe they just had a very tiring week but I doubt that's why .

I'm very surprised at some of these replies , wether we have paid for a vacation I'd still expect smiley staff , my other all inclusive holidays have had chatty happy staff and our other cruises also , I don't think it's because some are Eastern European either as the Other nationalities were the same .

I just find it sad , a little like having a servant and not caring about them .

I care and I'd like to think the person providing my wonderful holiday is happy with their life and that's contributing to them having a happy life also

    Ps- I'm a she :)

  6. I just wondered if anyone else found this issue also ,

It was a busy cruise and no doubt they were well worked this last week , but surely when most staff work 7 months solid after spring break etc the cruise ships should maybe arrange for the ship to have a day off ?

  7. We've just got off anthem and we found it a little "big" we've cruised on the epic which I didn't find over big but I think I found the anthem seemed more crowded (maybe as it was Spring break) we also found the beds hard , staff over worked , and my main complaint was poor food ! The wind jammer was fine but the "classic" menu was repeated everywhere .... 'Chicken breast with a thyme jus, Caesar salad , French onion soup , and strip steak ' was read over and over and over again in every menu and to my surprise again .... In the paid chops grill ! Only difference was it was organic , we found any alterations needing to be made to food was a total nightmare , and the silly reservations app didn't work half the time .

Overall we relaxed , drank , ate ok , and watched the worst shows I've ever witnessed on the seas .

Sadly I think it maybe a while until we sail with RCL

  8. As the title really just got off our first RC cruise and the staff were super and helpful and did their job as required but I couldn't help but feel the normal staff (not cruise directors US/UK / shop staff) felt unhappy , over worked and just an atmosphere that they were sad ?

On other cruises (non RC) both my husband and I felt we could talk more to staff , have a laugh and a chat if needed and well we felt as ease .

My parents have been on many many cruises and they felt the same along with some other friends commenting also?

The staff don't get me wrong worked amazing but it seemed they were always looking over their shoulder that they would get told off for having a quick chat , also having spoken to many staff they seemed tired and over worked?

    Has anyone else found this?

On other cruises we've made friends more with staff, had a random chat here and there and well that made us feel happier but I just felt so bad on the anthem .

  9. We are sailing on the Anthem of the seas and due to stop in port canaveral on the 22nd March, as a Huge Orlando theme park fan I'd like to visit Orlando and have seen RCL do a bus, but is it easier /cheaper/faster to get a private transfer to Orlando ?

Also do you have enough time to visit a park? We do know the place like the back of our hand so won't be wandering around wasting time

    Thanks

  10. Hi,

So my mum went on the maiden voyage of anthem and loved it so when our friends announced they were getting married on the ship in March we booked , with the confidence of it being a huge ship I should feel little movement as I get sickness .... (Mum never mentioned any movement or creaking )

We are due to sail in 5 weeks and I've tried to avoid reading too much about the ship , until the recent event of the storm which I've now learnt that the ship moves .... A lot

I'm basically pooing my pants that I'm going to have a terrible vacation .

I'm from the Uk and our travel sickness tablets are not great so on my last US trip I bought some Dramamine tablets , which I tried once during a flight and it worked well ....

But now I'm worrying even those won't work , when I feel the movement I almost freak out as I know how it makes me feel when the sickness starts

    Are there other options ??

I've tried ginger , U.K. Tablets, the pressure wrist bands etc ,

I've been on Epic and carnival inspiration and was ok on the epic but had a few bad days on inspiration .
