While we were the only traditional ship in port I was curious about Aranui5.  It is a combination freighter (forward) and cruise (aft) vessel which supplies outlying islands.  I noted one of their itineraries will allow people to go ashore on Pitcairn Island.  It was sitting at the cargo docks and I got a bit of a view through the fog as we cleared the breakwater.

I am thoroughly enjoying your posts!  I am unable to travel, so you are the next-best-thing!

The link to the picture of Aranui5 needs to have the jpg extension:

    It should be:  aranui5.jpg

Did you know that if you start at https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/689-viking-ocean/

(the general list) some threads are "bold"  Those are the ones where you personally have unread threads.

If you click on the dot in front of the title of the thread you go to your first unread post.  So I bookmark https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/689-viking-ocean/ and go from there.

  4. Thank you for your input! Do you recall the wine service during your trip? Some of my research leads me to believe there is one "included" type of red and white at dinner, but all other wines are at a charge? This would surprise me, but I've seen multiple reviews note this. Is there not a good size list of wines included in the inclusive price during the week-long cruise?

Are you confusing Seadream with Viking? Your description of the reviews you have read reminds me of Viking not Seadream.

  5. Here are the two that work for me.

The pink one is a deluxe rolling backpack from llbean. No one will walk off with your hot-pink bag! Got it at an outlet for less than 1/2 price - just have to say my name is Shelby (since that's monogrammed on the bag.) The llbean bags are indestructible. They roll or can be a back-pack. The black one is a cheap bag, but decorated so that it does not look like every other bag on the carousel. The bag takes acrylic paint very well! Perhaps you have more artistic talent!

Hum does have his "Guest Comment Review" waiting to pist, if anyone is interested.

I keep checking in, hoping to see the latest Guest Comment Review!!! I hope you will consider posting it. Past reviews have always been so thorough and a pleasure to read.

  7. We won't be seeing pictures of the award ceremony on the blog - there will be no blog.

    Got this today:

    Hello,

At this point in time, we have not created blogs for the crossings. I understand some guests were expecting them, and looking forward to it. We are currently working on some changes to our social media and web policies and those policies will not be ready in time for the spring crossings. Please ahead to the fall crossings.

    Thank you,

    Adrienne d'Annunzio

At least Ho-Hum is keeping us up to date!

  8. Day 6 and still no crossing blog !

The format is all set up, it's ready to go, just needs refreshing...... whoever is responsible in Oslo needs ......... !

Maybe Hum is right all along about shoreside management, if this is an example.

This morning (14 April, 2015) there is quite a moderate southerly swell (1-4m) but the surface is sooo smooth with very little wind and blue skies.

The answer I got from an email to Adrienne d'Annunzio on April 21:

    Hello,

We are still waiting for an update on the crossing blog. Once I have details I will let you know.

    Best regards,

    Adrienne d'Annunzio
