Have you ever sailed out of Galveston? What transfer did you use?
I have not sailed out of Galveston yet, but was going to at one point, then another option came available. I know Carnival has transfers, but I think you might get them cheaper thru a transfer service or maybe even an Uber. I’m sure someone will chime in and help you with that.[emoji846]

I just booked an interior on the lido deck today and am excited about it. What do you like best about that location?

You are steps from all the daytime action—-pool; buffet; Guys burgers; Blue Iquana; if you have kids that will attend camp Carnival your closer. We usually do not leave the Lido deck until dinner time.

What would you choose? I can't afford the balcony on the 7 Day. The 5 Day is on the Valor, going to Progresso and Cozumel. The 7 Day is on the Freedom going to Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan. With airfare, they are $28 different. What would you choose?
Edit: There are no interiors with Walkway on the 7 Day left...
I would go with the 7 day, and try to get an interior on the Lido deck. We used to get balconies all the time, then we tried an interior on the Lido and haven’t looked back—-we don’t even miss the balcony. Although everyone’s preference is different.

I am looking for something to do while our Carnival ship is in port at Amber Cove. Other than the waterfalls, none of the ship excursions look particularly interesting so I started looking outside the cruise line. Several operators include a cable car ride to the top of a mountain at Isabel De Torres National Park and now we are thinking of grabbing a cab and going to the Fort and the Cable Car. I find it kind of odd that the cable car is not part of any ship excursions and it made me wonder if it is still open post hurricanes or if it breaks down a lot so the ships don't want to take a chance on you getting stuck etc. Seems like it would be a nice little trip but the fact it is not included in any ship tour makes me wonder if it is a little sketchy or something. We are not afraid to go out on our own but want to make sure we are not making any mistakes in our choices. I posted this on the DR port board but this board gets a lot more action so I am hoping to find some past carnival cruisers who have gone on the cable car. If you have any input on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
We went to top of Mt. Isabel by the cable car back in 2016. It was a great trip. We just grabbed a taxi and went in our own. They have a bronze version of Christ the Redeemer at the top.

They do show the real price upfront. When you go to a retail store and you buy an item, the price does not include taxes, but you know that taxes will be added— so what’s the difference?
Also, I believe that port fees fluctuate.

Great review so far! We take the train all the time to NOLA from Illinois, it’s a 16 hr ride for us, its so much easier and relaxing, don’t have to worry about what you pack and you can take food and drink onto the train. It’s a great way to travel.

Debit cards have a daily limit placed on them by your bank— most are $500. If you go over that daily limit your charges will be denied. We deal with this problem daily where I work.

It’s from the casino. We just got back also, but they are only for certain cruises in October.

I also believe it has to do with capacity. It also depends on how many in your party. If you are cruising in peak season, they won't let you put 2 people in a 3 person cabin. A lot of the connecting cabins are different capacities. Some may be 4 in one cabin and the connecting cabin can only hold 2. Some are 2/2, some are 3/3, etc. So you will only be shown the connecting cabins that meet your configuration.

I was waitlisted for YTD on my cruise in September. A few days later I got an email stating that my requested dinning time has been confirmed.

We have used the Tri-Rail several times, it's $5 pp, very easy.

Did my first spring break cruise last year. The ship was at capacity and very crowded. A lot of families, kids running up and down the hallways at all hours. It was not a bad cruise, just not very relaxing to me. Went on a 4 day in January and it was calmer than the spring break cruise.
It just depends on the passenger base. I have also been on a cruise in October that was just like the spring break cruise, actually I think it was worse! All you can do is go in with a positive attitude and go with the flow.
Will i take a spring break cruise again? Yes! Because let's face it--a cruise is a cruise and if that is the only time I can go, well then I'm there!

I don’t know if this would be a feasible for you, but did you ever think about taking the train?
We live in Illinois and most of the time take the train to NOLA, it’s pretty inexpensive and you don’t have to worry about what you pack.
