  1. Taxis are very east to get there. Just hop in one and tell them to take you to St. James beach. Its about 10 minutes away. Clean restrooms, beach chairs and umbrella rentals. has restaurant and beach is free. There are 365 beaches in Antigua so you shouldn't have a problem finding one that suits you. Our taxi driver asked us when we wanted to go back, and he was waiting for us when we were ready to go.

  2. check out the YVE in downtown. Just been remodeled and was reasonably priced. Right across the street from Bayside Market. We Just asked about the Breakfast and they gave it to us. Plus they have a free cocktail from 5-7.

The other place I suggest is the Hampton Inn in Southbeach. It was the best hotel and the most convient we have stayed at in SB. Free breakfast, cookies and coffee and water all day. Only a block from Lincoln road and about 3 blocks from Ocean drive and the beach is across the street, and a nice rooftop pool. It was only $169 a night through truvago, and for SB that's cheap. Plus extremely clean and free wifi and business center.

We have stayed there 3-4 times and will be staying again in Nov. Good luck.

  3. Hi again,

We did Cosol Tours a couple years ago. Awesome tour guides and one of the most beautiful beach stops we have ever been to. We did the island tour and then went on a boat to jealousy beach. I think that was the name. It was the beach between the 2 pitons. And they took us back to the ship by boat. So you really got to see alot of the island. It was one of the best tours we have ever done. I highly recommend them.

  4. Posting this to many ports I'm visiting. Hoping for many ideas.

My head is spinning trying to figure out what to do at our ports. We've been on a couple of cruises (Oasis/Liberty, with western/eastern itineraries), so all new ones this time except St. Maarten. Could I get some suggestions based on what we want to do at some ports?

    Our likes include

-visiting the must see of each island with the best scenery for pictures

    -beach

    -horseback riding

    -catamaran/snorkeling

    -zip lining

    -touring

    etc...

    Any you would suggest?

Some places have must do's and don't want to miss that either. Open to ideas, but would like suggestions on the must do's for each island!

    Barbados-

St Kitts- sir timothy hill for pics?

    St Johns, Antigua-

    St Lucia- pitons?

St Maarten- Been to once, went horseback riding and maho beach.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    -Nick

    hey nick

hubby and i were just in Antigua in dec. did a tour with Gordon Finch. We went all over the island and then ended at a beach for a couple of hours, where they had a bbq set up for us. It was a blast to see all the places around the island. I think the cost was $50.

We will be there again in 3 weeks and I contacted him about another tour.

He emailed my back within a few hours.

We are both in our 40's and friends that were with us were in their 70's and the tour catered to all ages. One of our group can't walk long distances and there was never a issue. The ones that wanted to hike and see things did and they arranged other things for our friend.

Hope you have great time. It was one of our favorite islands so far.

  5. I have contacted them twice thru their website and haven't heard from them.:confused: I am looking into Exodus Tours.

    Are you looking at reynotours.net?

We just did this tour with Reyno in Dec. It was awesome. One of the ladies with us was 75 and she said the river tubing was the highlight of her trip. She giggled all the way down the river. If you can call him. The internet service is not that reliable in Dominican, especially after the hurricane hit in October.

You will not be disappointed if you use him.

P.S. Tell him his biggest fan Kim said Hi!!!!!

  6. we did the 10 day Sunshine journey cruise Dec9-19. I'm still working on my review. so give me time. the holidays have been crazy getting back just a few days before..

One of the things alot of people have asked is about the formal and elegant nights. Here is what I noticed. Elegant nights where alot of the same as our other cruises. But on the formal night, people went all out. Men in tuxes and women in long gowns.

Also on ours there where alot of btb people that had done the 11 day journey before us.

Another thing I noticed was there were very few kids on our ship. Could be the length of these cruises keep them low. Parents not wanting to take them out of school for that long.

Also the crowd seemed to be more retired people. Hubby and I are 43 and pretty active and really enjoyed this cruise. It was probably the best we have been on.

Another thing is the ports are so different. Alot of these stops few ships go to these places. Like Martinique and St.Croix on ours. So its a chance to see alot of new ports of call.

We are like the other man that still works. But a 10-11 days was perfect for us. And just enough sea days that you don't get bored on the ship or antsy.

  7. I know how you feel. I get very sea sick and I still love yo cruise. Try taking Meclizine, from your Dr. Its cheaper than over counter stuff. Start taking it a few days at night before you leave. It will get your system accostumed to the drugs. Then the night before your cruise put on the patches. I get them from the dr also. if they make you drowsy. cut them in half. I have done this since our first cruise 7yrs ago. And our first one I found out the hard way on if i get sea sick. I was sick for 5 of a 7 day cruise. Worst feeling ever. If the seas get rough at night I take a pill also before bed, which is when i seem to feel it the most.

    Good luck.

  8. We have been to ST 4 times in 2 years. Always booked with private before.

Went to St.Johns in Feb. So decided to just wing it this time. We have never done a island tour, without shopping.

We are wanting a private or semi private tour to get a good look at the island, take in the history, and then go to the beach for a couple of hours.

Does anyone know if we can just get a taxi for 2 people to do this at a resonable price or will we have to join a large group? Any suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  9. Just wanted to follow up, how goes the planning?

sorry took so long to reply back. Been trying to get holiday stuff done before we leave. But I booked a tour with prince. Thanks so much for you help. We are looking forward to being there. I will be in port til 4. We are doing the Christiansvaern tour and drinking pigs and a few other stops then back to Frank to see a little there before heading to the beach. Which beach is in that area? Just to have a few drinks and a snack. thanks

  10. Are there ice buckets in each ocean view cabin of the Carnival Elation? If yes, does the room steward fill it up for me as needed or do I fill them up? If I fill it up, where do I have to go to get ice. I'm on the the Upper Deck 6.

Also, does the ship offer automated wakeup calls like a hotel does or do I need to bring my own bedside clock?

I have a ocean view room and would like to keep my curtains open while I'm lounging around the room and while I'm sleeping. Is there any reason I shouldn't keep the curtains open while I'm in the room, even if I'm walking around naked?

    Thanks!

    Dogs Friend

    I love it.lololol

I always bring a small alarm clock. (wal-mart $10) And I also bring a power strip to plug it into. since usually only have one plug and don't want to unplug and reset everytime i need to plug something else in.

As someone else stated, If you going to go naked alot in you room, hang snoozing sign on door. Stewards have been known to knock once and then just walk in. Has happened to hubby more than once, especially if he was in shower and didnt hear them knock.

I think the stewards have a good giggle at us crazy cruisers when this happens. lolololol

  11. Hi. I just got an email messge from Christelle saying that you four had booked the tour too. Great! Not only that, she gave us a $15 discount for mentioning on Cruise Critic to you that you could join our tour.

Talk about good service! This tour is looking better and better. I'd just as soon keep the count at six, if possible, 8 can make a van seem crowded.

It will be fun meeting you as well.

Just got my conformation. I agree about just the 6 of us. Cause the 2 men with us are long legged and tall. So it can get cramped when it comes to 8 people in one those little vans:eek:

I hope that we dock at the same dock so it makes things alot easier, But she didn't think it would be a problem.

So we are looking forward to meeting you.

  12. Can anyone comment on the NATURES BEAUTY "POOL AND FALLS TOUR offered by Reyno Tours. The tour description sounds great as it offers all the points of interest we would like to see. However, I am wondering if it is too much to take in for a 4 hour tour. Was it very rushed? Did the tour go beyond 4 hours?

We are booked with him next month, Just email him with your contact info and he will call or email you back with details. We are doing the river tubing and the falls and he said it takes around 4 hours, The tubing is around 1 hour and the falls he said are pretty close by each other so its not alot of drive time once you get there.

But, I would email and leave him your Phone# and he wil actually call and talk to you. reynotours.net or reynotours@gmail.com

have a great time on the tour.

  13. I just booked the Karambola tour. Looks like they can take up to 8, so maybe you can join us. Mention my name, Barbara Werner, and see if that will work. It's my husband and me.

I have no idea if they have other English-speaking tours that day. They did say wear a swimsuit and take a towel, so??? I didn't realize we had beach time, but it's ok with me. We have lots of ports and beach/water time too, so I would have been ok without for this port, but it's all good. Seven ports!

I just Emailed her back and waiting on a conformation. There will be 2, possible 4 adults.

Did she sent you something with the details on where to meet and what time?

I agree with you on how quickly she responded. Cant wait to meet you.

    Thanks

  14. Nope, we're on the Oosterdam docking on Dec. 13th--otherwise that would be great.

thanks, we are on the carnival sunshine. Docking on the same day. Having a hard time finding something to do there. We are in port from 8-6.

Seems there are alot of beach tours, not really wanting to do that since we are on a 10 day with 6 ports. Hubby will probably already be fried.:D

If you want to meet up to do this tour let me know, We are trying to get all of our tours booked

    thanks

  15. I got the same message--it sounds pretty good to me, but still thinking about it. They didn't say anything about having a certain number of people for the English tour, time frame, etc. It seems like a good price, and payment in dollars is a bonus.

    Hello Nebr.cruiser,

I noticed you said you will be there on a sunday. Are you on the sunshine

December 9, 2015 cruise? If so are you wanting a couple more people to do this tour? If so my hubby and I are interested in joining you. I looked at the website and it seems like a nice tour.

If so you can contact me at gbpaint@mycitycable.com

    thanks

  16. Has anyone had experience with just hiring a taxi to go see various sights around the island? We have inquired with several tour companies (Levi, Woody, Nature Isle) and none of the companies are doing the tour that we would like to do the day we are in port. We sail in one week, so it doesn't look like people are going to be booking the other tours and I really don't like the limited tour options the operators are offering as I really don't care to see Champagne Reef or the Botanical Gardens. I just want to see waterfalls, hike, and not get lost so we can make it back to the ship in time =) I started thinking that maybe we should just hire a taxi when we get there. We have done this in other ports with great success, but then I thought about the borderline disaster we had when I tried this in Jamaica and got nervous about trying that here... I have read great things about Shy Guy and Sister's, but has anyone else just hired a random taxi driver at the port (by random I mean someone still licensed) and had success touring the island? Thank you!

    check out reynotours.net or reynotours@gmail.com

He will do custom tour for you, he is for us when we come in Dec. And the price was good too.

  17. I did not see pricing on his website, did I miss it or do you have to email him for pricing?

I just emailed him through his web site . It has a place for all your contact info, and he called me the next day to answer questions and gave me a price after I told him what I wanted to do and how many people.

He was extremely nice too, even gave me all his contact info, cell, and home numbers too in case we had anymore questions.

  18. thanks for posting this about reyno.

After reading your thread last night I emailed him and he called me first thing in the morning. He was so helpful. And am looking forward to this tour.

I have emailed about 10 different tour companies in the past week and he is the only one to respond. Especially since my cruise is in a month and trying to get tours booked before we go, I am impressed that he responded so quickly.

So I just wanted to say thankyou for the info.

  19. I found on another thread about this guy and looked up his site and was very impressed with how quickly i got a response.

I emailed him around 11:00 pm with a few questions and my contact info and he even called me the next day to give me all the info i needed and answered any questions I had.

Even emailed me all the info I had asked about too, to make sure that i had as much information as i needed. And then gave me all his personal and cell numbers.

WE will be there in december and i am going to use him for our tour. And am so excited just to meet him after having a really nice conversation with him.

his website is very professional looking and pretty user friendly for a computer dummy like myself:o reynotours.net

  20. I just got off the phone today with a guy named reyno. I sent him a email late last night and he offers a great tour. And seemed really nice and upfront about the whole itenary. His site is reynotours.net We are doing a river tubing tour and visiting a couple of waterfalls and sightseeing of the island for $150 for 2 or $60 per person for more people. The more you have the cheaper per person from what i understand.

He web page also looks very professional, and you pay when you get there.

We will be there in december and I will post on here how it was when we get back so keep a look out.

  21. I just wanted to say thank you again. can't wait to see your island. I'm calling the people you suggested in the morning.

I'll post on here before we leave and set up a meeting spot for those beers!!!

And again thanks for all your patience, time and help to us ocd cruisers
