Hi all. Just want some input here if possible.

I've looked at relocation cruises in the past and have heard that they're offered at a discount because they aren't fully featured (limited shows, events, etc.) and I'm not sure how RCL is treating it these days. They have a cruise listed this year for the Quantum that goes from Seattle to Tokyo with a total of 10 at sea days, and I'm not sure that this falls into "relocation" status because it looks like just a standard offering for the Quantum this year. I just want to know what to expect on a cruise like this - will all of the standard entertainment still be available? All nightly entertainers, piano bars, etc.? That's a lot of time at sea to not have anything going on, so any and all input is appreciated. I called RCL and they were very little help - seemed like I got pushed off to a third party that just checked the website and told me everything is fine.

Also, if anyone has any input on what a transpacific cruise would look like in terms of sailing (weather/sea conditions/etc.) that would definitely help as well.

While I can't speak specifically regarding a Transpacific but I was on a Transatlantic cruise in November on the Odyssey and there was a lot of entertainment.  Piano bar every night, live music around other venues, shows in the theatre and the 270, as well as lots of games and trivia.  We had such a good time that we are doing it again this year!

So is they price they show on the web site for the alcohol package include the tax and gratuity or do you have to add that to the price shown?

The price shown is before gratuities.   An 18% gratuity will be added at checkout.

I have to wonder how true these statements could possibly be "It's my life long dream to become Diamond", "I feel extra special in the DL". Geez it seems like chain yanking to me.

Lol.  We could be wrong, but I had the same thought.  Feels very much like trolling.

I'm pretty sure a 100% Royal's management is telling all their Bartenders to print our receipts for ever customer.

I don't think that they are being told to do that.  We just got off from 2 weeks on the Odyssey yesterday.  This isn't regarding voucher drinks, but we had the drink package.  We were not given a receipt in any venue by any bartender, ever.  They wouldn't all be ignoring management directive.

I think some posters might be reading a little too much into the 'least painful' comment.  I could be wrong, and the OP can let me know if I am, but I think you could just substitute 'easiest' and have close to the same meaning as to what was meant?

Hi , I am very new to princess cruises. I have only cruised with royal caribbean but really want to do a cruise to Hawaii from California. I am looking at Grand Princess and Ruby Princess. I am going with a teenager, I am sure this chips probably dont compare to the the big ships in Royal Caribbean, but will she get bored? Do the ships feel really old? She is also extremely picky with food, would we be able to get french fries everywhere easily? Is internet on the ships ok? As this are smaller ships , do you feel the movement a lot? Any tips you can give me about Princess and either ship would be amazing. I would be going on Jan 2025.

    Thank you so much!!!

I do agree with other posters that teens can definitely differ, but I can't imagine that most teens wouldn't be bored on that class of ship with that many sea days.  Especially considering that aside from having more sedate entertainment and activities than the bigger ships offer, the passenger demographic for that type of sailing is going to trend older.  My kids were not at all the type to need to be endlessly entertained, but they would have been BORED.  So bored.

It's amazing how on this subject everyone has worked in a restaurant at some point. LOL.

I have and my husband hasn't.  My daughter hasn't but my son still does.  That's 50% just for my immediate family.  It doesn't surprise me that many on here have also.

We just got the email as well (sailing Jan 2024)however, there is a contradiction between the email and the Princess website.

Website, under FAQ states that the $5 room service fee only applies to room service orders "placed by stateroom phone"

The email states:  OceanNow delivery:  To ensure you can have whatever you need during your cruise delivered directly to you, a nominal access fee of $14.99 per guest per voyage will now apply to OceanNow deliver."

Next paragraph:  Room service fee:  "A $5 delivery fee will be charged for all room service orders (except complimentary stateroom breakfast orders).

No where does it exempt those that have paid the OceanNow fee.

Am I confused or is this just another poorly written message from them.

There isn't any contradiction that I can see.  It's not really even poorly written because the two things you have bolded are completely separate and have nothing to do with each other.

    1.  If you order from the OceanNow delivery on the app you will be charged a one-time $14.99 per voyage fee.  You can order as many times as you want and have it delivered to wherever you want for the one $14.99 fee (including your stateroom).

    2.  If you pick up the telephone in your cabin and order room service you will be charged a $5.00 fee.  Every time.  There are no exceptions for this fee just because you've also used the OceanNow app and paid that $14.99 fee.

I hope that I explained this alright.

Don't know what ship Tony or Merion Mom sailed but on the Crown Princess, there was only 1 pizza place and it was free of charge at that location. To get a whole pie delivered was $5.

Yeah, the Crown does not have it, but many of the Princess ships have a pizza place called Alfredo's (or Gigi's on some ships).  It's a sit-down and be served restaurant and has very good pizza.  It was previously complimentary but will now be a for charge venue.  It's actually amazing that it was ever free of charge.

The counter service pizza place on Princess that is equivalent to Sorrento's is on all ships and is free of charge.

We got one dessert.  My sugar/ice cream fiend niece SPIT IT OUT! The cakes in them are gross.   🤣😂

Ha!  Yeah, they do not look like like they'd be my style.   My husband is determined that we are going to share one during our cruise.  One.  On our 13 day cruise.  I think even that might be pushing it. 😄

Apparently we didn’t understand it because we were NEVER informed by Princess of any change nor was our TA. We have all searched our emails and no one received the notification.

You actually got a really good deal because you paid a lower per day cost for the package but are still getting drinks up to the new $15.00 max rather than $12.00.  The desserts really aren't worth paying a whole bunch extra for as most people are not going to be eating them every single day.

The $110 PP PD includes your drink package, wifi, and gratuities.  It is not all gratuity.  I believe the gratuity daily allocation for Reserve Class is $15.50 (or $17 depending on when you booked).  IMHO that's a pretty small amount to be split among all crew members so we plan to tip additional.  However, it's not required so use your own discretion.

Sorry, my post was redundant - this thread was much longer than I realized.

Those of you who know Canada...check this out.

Quebec to Calgary to Toronto to LAX = Total 16 hours.

That's...insane.  I’m glad to see that you've finally gotten a flight though.  Good luck.  🙂

Last night, Wings Wednesday at our local sports bar. $.75 per wing, better than any of the wings we’ve ever had on a ship. Throw in $3 for a 16 oz glass of beer because of Happy Hour. 10 wings and two beers for $13.50 plus tax and tip. Now that’s cheap.

That certainly is!  Nice!  I wanna move to wherever you are.  We have no bars that have those type of specials, even during Happy Hours.  So jealous.  Unfortunately, our prices run closer to the $18.00 average for 6 wings that a previous poster cited.  Sigh.

    Hi Hi!

First time ordering the Soda package for my brother in law.  The top of the cup, is it sealed? if tipped over will this spill?  Does it have to stay stand-up?

I tend to carry a tote bag on the ship -- book/phone/etc.  If I don't buy a sling, Can I toss that cup in my bag w/o spillage?

    Let me know 🙂

    C.

Personally, I would not throw one in a tote bag if it was not  completely empty.  The lids are tight but not very sealed, in my experience.

Me too!  Everybody around me gets hand pays and I get nothing. I can’t figure out what I do wrong.  I appear to be betting the same.  I just stink.

Oh, me too.  It’s a running family joke at this point.  If we are heading to the casino my husband asks if I would prefer to save time and just flush the money down the toilet now.  Ha!

1/2 million dollars for some onboard credit, carry-on bag drop off with delivery, welcome lunch with Chops menu, 2 device surf and stream?

Looks like one example when it would have been cheaper to buy The Key.

I don't pretend to know how well the OP has done gambling, but betting 1/2 a million doesn’t necessarily mean losing 1/2 a million.  Of course, it would for me because I have TERRIBLE luck.  😆

Hmm - paper jam, broken copier, ran out of toner/ink, gremlins, etc.

Yeah, all the above are possible reasons.  Or insufficient time or staff?  Who knows?  It wasn't a huge deal, just recounting our experience.  Everyone at GS was super nice and tried so hard to help with bringing it up on my husband’s phone but the app was all 'nope, not today!'.  Lol.

They must have changed since you were on.  We were on Radiance for 3 weeks in January and received one every day.

Yeah, Firefly, who I was responding to also mentioned they got a paper copy on Radiance so it's definitely not consistent.  I just wanted to chime in with our experience.  We only asked that one day when we couldn't get it up on the app so it might have been available on other days, maybe? Three weeks sounds lovely.  She's a beautiful ship.
