  1. I would skip the suite for sure. My first cruise was also for my honeymoon. I would do the longer cruise with a balcony room if it's in the budget. I can promise you won't regret having the balcony. If you're going on one of the newer ships (Dream, Breeze, Magic) I would recommend the 7th floor or higher due to how the walk around is set up on the 5th floor. I'm not sure of the layout on the Vista (not interested).

No matter what you choose just be laid back and have fun. On our first cruise a 7 day out of New Orleans (honeymoon). There was a shipwreck in the Mississippi river so our boat couldn't come in. Carnival rented busses and sent us to catch the boat in Mississippi. We didn't get there till 1:00 a.m. Later that day when the boat was finally ready to leave there were tornado warnings so we didn't leave till late that night. We received a letter in our room that due to the delay we would miss Jamaica. When we arrived in Grand Caymen we actually dropped anchor and shortly after there was an announcement that the water was too rough to tinder so we raised the anchor and left. We actually did make it to Cozumel.

The point of my story is that we are laid back and don't let much bother us. We had an amazing time on that cruise. We met some amazing people and made life long friends. The next year we booked the same cruise with some of the people we met on the first cruise. That was 13 years ago and last summer we were in Destin, FL with them.

  2. Eleven years ago on our first cruise (honeymoon) we had quite an eventful cruise. We were supposed to leave from NO on the Conquest at 4:00 p.m. Sunday evening. There was an incident in the Mississippi River so the boat was redirected to Mississippi. We were bused to the ship in Mississippi and arrived around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning. The cruise departed Mississippi around 6:00 p.m. Monday which was when we also finally received our last bag. We were concerned that the bag which contained all of our shoes was lost. We were informed that due to the delay we would not go to Jamaica.

We had a balcony room so the day that we arrived in Grand Cayman we watched from the balcony as anchor was dropped followed by the anchor being pulled up shortly after. The captain then announced that we were departing Grand Cayman because they were expecting bad weather later that evening. The next day we did make Cozumel as planned. On what was supposed to be a 7 day cruise we only went to one port.

The point of my story is that this cruise was AMAZING. We had so much fun. We met some great people and made life long friends. The crew was also amazing.

However, you can just about imagine how mad most of the people on that cruise were.

A cruise is exactly what you make it. If you let the little things ruin it then you will not enjoy yourself no matter what.

  3. We are booked in adjoining balconies on the 8th floor of the Dream. I would really like to try the cove balconies but I get sea sick. I'm worried that the closeness of the balcony to the moving water will make it worse. What has your experience been with this? If I take medicine when we cruise I'm fine. For comparison, the Galveston Ferry makes me pretty queasy.
