  1. The casino is the only indoor spot to smoke. What did everyone think was going to happen when they stopped smoking in cabins and on balconies?

You are exactly right!! What I find ironic from reading all the threads on the smoking issues is the people that complained about smoking on the balconies are the same people that complain how smoky the casino is - or how many smokers are on the smoking area decks and they have to walk through the smoke and how the ship was never this smoky, blah, blah, blah. I am a smoker & I can tell you right now that if I could still smoke on my balcony that would be where I would spend most of my time smoking. But the complainers got that taken away - yet they still complain.

  2. I've booked every single one of my cruises as Early Saver cruises once they came out with the program with the exception of 1 cruise. In the past if it was before final payment I'd call my PVP and he'd take care of it. After final payment I'd complete the form and submit it. In the past year they've made it so we have to submit the form after booking and the pvp wasn't supposed to do it.

I downloaded Chrome because none of my browsers would let me submit the form myself. On my last 4 requests for price drops on various sailings I've been denied. Resubmitting did not help. I had to call the number on the denial email and explain my current booking and they were able to take care of it. One of those calls was over an hour before it was taken care of.

Submitted a price drop last night knowing it was going to kick back as denied today and sure enough it was. Called the number on the email and the person who answered walked me though each step of completing the form again. She gave me actual booking codes which would make whoever processed it aware that I had help with the form. She said I should have no issues. Sure enough they rejected my claim again. She told me to call her tomorrow and she'd do it herself if there were any issues.

My question is why is this happening over and over again? Friends of ours are in the cabin next us to us theirs went right through with no issues. The person I spoke to today gave me the exact amount the price drop was and it's the same as what they received.

I booked while on another cruise they did not. We are paid in full and I'm not sure if they are. Does paying in full in advance make it harder for Carnival to see that we paid more than the current price? Is booking while on board messing up what they are comprehending on their end?

I'm not sure why I bother using a PVP or transferring my booking to him if he's not able to help with price drops? Anyone else getting denied each time they submit a price drop request?

I am going on my first cruise ever & I booked Early Saver on Victory and paid in full when I booked. I didn't even know about a form that was supposed to be filled out to receive an incentive for a price drop. I called Carnival & they gave me OBC over the phone. They never even mentioned my needing to fill out a form.

  3. I called Carnival and she wouldn't take mine over the phone. She said I had to submit the online form. It worked out well, since it was processed so fast....and that woman was rude. Every time I would ask a question she would sigh and sound irritated, like I was bothering her. Glad to get off the phone with her and do it electronically.

I was actually expecting them to tell me the same thing - but I figured I would at least try to call first - nothing to lose by trying - and it worked! Glad I didn't get the woman you got - the woman I got was very nice - even told me to keep checking back b/c if the price goes :)down again I will get additional OBC:)

  4. Ok, could someone take me through this process like a kindergarten-er? lol

How do you keep an eye on what your cruise would cost and that?

and how do i see if i qualify for a cheaper fare ?

sooo new and lost at this part!

Go to Carnival website & do a mock booking of exactly what you have already booked. If you booked early saver & your room category is still available & the price has gone down, you will be eligible for OBC (if you have already paid in full) or a reduction in your balance due. I booked with early saver back in January & paid in full. I found my room category cheaper just a couple of days ago. I called Carnival & they issued me OBC over the phone & sent a confirmation email while I was still on the phone with them.

  5. I heard back from my PVP. This is what she had to say:

" I have not heard that at all!! Who is the PVP? To be honest with you, I don't think this information could be true. It just doesn't make sense to make all those changes this late in the game. I have seen ships change but, we do it with more than 6 months notice. I would be very surprised if this is correct information."

I saw the post and it was made back in November. I'm sure if this were true I would hope people who are currently booked on the Victory would have been given notice by now. Plus my room category isn't even on the Fantasy

Neither is mine!!! This is my first cruise EVER & I have been doing a lot of research regarding the Victory & I was looking forward to sailing on it. I would hate for my first cruise to be totally screwed up like that!!!

  6. I saw this on travel.forumsee.com - I wonder if this is actually true:

Repositionings in 2015 and the debut of Fun Ship 3.0

    Carnival Cruise Lines - boards.cruisecritic.com

Just heard the news from my PVP!!

Carnival Victory will be the first ship to receive Fun Ship 3.0 upgrades when she goes to dry dock in March. Among those upgrades, she will get Guy's, Blue Iguana, JiJi, Steakhouse, Cucina, Bonsai, Thrill Theater, redesigned promenade deck and new stateroom decor, new shows that won't be Playlist, two new staterooms, the upper level of the theater and the aft Lido pool will be transformed into new areas, new hybrid WiFi with faster speeds, Even More HD movies under the stars, American Table and more that will be announced soon with 3.0!

Carnival Fantasy will reposition to Miami and the Victory will be coming to Charleston! Victory will be in dry dock on 3/21/15 and will get to Charleston on 4/04/15. There will be a media event on April 5 followed by a 2 night media cruise to nowhere. Carnival Victory and Carnival Fantasy will swap itineraries beginning on April 4 and April 7. Carnival Victory will take over the cruises currently scheduled beginning April 7. The April 2 Carnival Fantasy cruise will be cancelled and the ship will reposition to Miami without passengers and resume the scheduled 5 day cruise on April 4. Customers already booked on any sailing beginning April 2 and April 4 will automatically be rolled over to the new ships. This is a move to increase capacity and variety in Charleston.

  7. Things that I should have complained about...(as facetious and with as much exaggeration as I can muster).

    1. My stateroom was in the wrong configuration when I boarded...I definitely told them twin beds, my husband and I would rather sleep, thank You.

    2. Sailed from San Juan and made sure the cruise line was aware that we wanted to be seated at dinner with English speakers...not only was our table only Spanish speaking it was part of a group of some 60 San Juanians cruising together.

    3. After getting to the pier at 9am (didn't want to miss that free lunch) we discovered no ship....what do you mean the fog held it up. And the worst was the pier had no means of feeding us or providing liquid refreshment.

    4. I lost 20 bucks at the penny slots without a single payout....tightest machines ever, the Cruise Line is only out to get my money.

    5. Really, they expect me to drink that brand of soda and they don't have my elusive brand of tequila or my favorite california wine...what kind of operation is this.

    6. There wasn't a single book worth reading in the Library...what do they expect, that I should actually buy my own and bring it onboard.

    7. The trivia contest was fixed...they didn't ask a single question that I knew the answer to.

    8. I bought 10 bingo cards and not one won...what a rip off.

    9. They didn't pick us for the Newlywed game. They wanted someone energetic, not shy, and reasonably funny...stupid requirements and I waited all year to be selected.

    10. The piano player didn't know a single song I requested..I thought all pianists were classically trained.

    Just a few of many.....

Your #4 made me go back & find this post that is on Consumer Affairs as a Carnival Complaint:

"Overall, my recent cruise on the Liberty was somewhat disappointing. Room service was good, entertainment boring, food fair, port calls dissatisfied, except for St. Martin... Now for the negatives... Fair warning... Do not play the slots... You will lose every penny you feed it. I went through $800.00 quickly and finally realized I was throwing my money away and finally came to my senses and quit... "

So I guess it is Carnival's fault that this person is a degenerate gambler???
