  1. Suite and Aqua cabins had plush terry cloth robes, while Veranda cabins had thinner, lighter waffle cotton robes. DH and I preferred the latter.

ARe larger sizes available for those of us who may be a bit on the portly side?;)

  2. Hi, I’ll be sailing on Celebrity Solstice on August 17th and had a question regarding accommodations for those with mobility issues at the piers. Are there shuttles available to take passengers up to the excursion meeting points? I will be docking at Tracy Arm, Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. Any information is helpful. Thank you.

  3. I am booked on an Alaskan cruise in August. I understand that binoculars are provided for Concierge class guests. Does anyone know the quality of these binoculars, or if they can be taken off the ship on excursions? Do you recommend purchasing my own? If so, can you recommend some inexpensive binoculars that will do the trick (under $50)? Thanks!

  4. I am a fairly new cruiser (one on RCCL Oasis, one on Celebrity Equinox) and found the food on both to be just fine. Nothing inedible about either, and nothing disappointing as well. Never even tempted to return something to the kitchen. If I could eat like that at home, I’d be deliriously happy! To be fair, I am a glass half full person, and don’t go about looking for things to complain about as it seems some people on these boards do. I’m on a cruise, on vacation, free as a bird, and happy as a clam. And they feed me. ;)

  5. +1 ..... don't forget that night before or after the cruise in a hotel.

Hotels usually have plugs right by the bed - usually on the lamp/light fixture or on the nightstand. I have had no issues with plugs in hotels, and Celebrity furnished the water and cord for me in December on the Equinox with no problem.

  6. Okay, here’s my question. I am traveling solo, but, of course, paying for two. If I book another cruise while on board, will I get perks/OBC for two people or just one? It would seem logical that since I am paying for two, I should get perks for two, but logic doesn’t always mean much, does it? Does anyone have an answer? I’m sailing on the Equinox Dec. 9.

  7. has anyone used this package from AT&T for Celebrity?... it's 60.00 per month for 100 texts (outgoing, incoming is unlimitedt ) and 50 minutes of phone calls? this is for using on the ship only, not on the islands.. it's for use on 'Celebrity ships

I am sailing on the Equinox on 12/9/17 - I purchased the $120 package that includes 100MB of data. I’m just hoping it works!

  8. We are going on our first December cruise this year....Dec 9th on the Equinox. Will the ship be decorated that early? Or will they do it during our cruise? Also, are there special holiday themed drinks, foods, activities on board? We are really looking forward to an early Christmas celebration with our family.

I’ll be on the same cruise and was wondering the same thing. Have you signed up for the Meet & Mingle? If so, I look forward to meeting you!

  9. When booking our cruise this year, I chose to use Celebrity’s travel agent to book the air and hotel which worked well, financially and service wise everything went as planned. We spent two pre-cruise nights at the Marriott Courtyard Miami Beach. Excellent value as we had a super large room and was comfortable. There were plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee shops to keep us entertained during our short stay.

On sailing day we headed out to the ship around 11A expecting a quick and easy check in, only to find long lines and a huge crowd. Something wasn’t right. We waited and waited and eventually, after an hour or so, some one from the cruise line came out and apologized and advised us that the computer system was down. So I understood why and kept my patience. The only suggestion I would make is that the staff should seek out families with young children and let them go to the front of the line. Same should go for the elderly and persons with special needs. Overall I think check in took over two hours not the best, but it could have been worse, I suppose.

Once on board, we were at home and all was well. The OceanView wasn’t overly crowded so we settled down for a nice meal. Maybe time for a drink and to the cabin to drop off our hand luggage and head to the Muster drill. I enjoyed the video which was meant to entertain rather than bore. Afterwards we enjoyed sail away and settled into the party that just got started and did not end until 11 nights later.

I think this was our 8th Celebrity Cruise, all which have been on Solstice ships…. all though the ship showed some wear and tear on the exterior (a little rust here and there)…. it still looks nearly as nice as it did went it went into service with the exception of worn upholstery on some of the deck furniture. They need to fix that as I saw some cushions with the stuffing falling out.

The food and dinning room service was spectacular. I loved every bite. The wine on the classic package was a huge improvement over the standard one and it is worth the extra money just for the wine and Stella Beer.

The entertainment was the best ever. What made it for us were the Society X parties at night. The pool party and the silent disco were much fun as well as the shows were they bring the stage crew into the Atrium to make things festive. Much enjoyed.

So that is it in a nutshell. Another solid win for Celebrity which remains my cruise line of choice. I booked the Edge for Fall of 2019….got a Suite this time and will enjoy nearly two years to pay for it before we head off to Rome.

Here is a link to my photos in Flickr; enjoy!

Beautiful photos - thank you for sharing!

  10. The drinks at Cafe AL Bacio are not free, but are included in the beverage packages. The desserts are free. Also, you do not need to get a coffee or tea drink to get the desserts.

I have purchased the Classic Non-Alcohol drink package - are the drinks at Cafe Al Bacio that contain alcohol also included in that package, or will I have to pay extra if I want one of those?

  11. Agree with the others; the perks are worth very little (but worth slightly more for a C3 or C2 on M-Class since the staterooms are slightly larger - and a lot more for a C1 on M-Class as the balconies are massive). On S-Class I'd only consider it if I really needed the extra Captain's Club points (i.e. was working towards another level) and the price difference wasn't more than about $100 per/person per/week. The embarkation lunch is worth a few bucks IMHO, the footstools also worth a few bucks and that's it. The priority embarkation is pretty meaningless (separate line - but on some cruises 75% of cruisers have priority embarkation, so the line may even be longer than the general boarding line). The sparkling wine is super cheap quality wine - not something I'd drink. Pretty much all the other perks have no actual value (i.e. are just marketing attempts to entice people to pay more than they should).

Do the Concierge showers have hand-held shower heads? Or the Aqua Class? That might do it for me...

  12. First timer to St. Thomas in December on the Equinox. Does anyone know if there are lockers at Magens Beach? I’m traveling solo and don’t have anyone (at this point) with whom to leave my stuff while going in the ocean. Wondering if the beach excursion is not feasible for me...Thanks in advance for your input. Also, has anyone been since the cleanup after the hurricanes? Status report?

  13. Since Celebrity generally televises all football play-off games and the Superbowl, I would hope they would televise the Armed Forces Superbowl.

    GO ARMY/BEAT NAVY!!!!

Daughter of USMA Class of 1944

Do they ever televise regular season NFL games? I’m taking my first Equinox cruise on Dec. 9 and the Patriots play the Monday night game...a girl can hope, right?

  14. I noticed a keyboard on the desk in some photos of cabins on the Equinox. I am sailing on Dec. 9 and like to keep a personal "ship's log" on my iPad. Does anyone know if the "onboard keyboard" is Bluetooth enabled and if it would work with my iPad? Otherwise I'll need to bring along my Logitech keyboard, as I am not very quick with the iPad keyboard. Thanks for your help!

  15. I will be sailing on the Equinox on Dec. 9 and hope to get a couple of games of Mah Jongg in with any willing participants. Does anyone know if there is a game room or similar place where there are tables that seat four for a game? And is anyone out there interested in joining me? I plan to bring my own set. Thanks!

  16. Hello all, I am divorced (4 years) and will be taking my second solo cruise in 56 days (can you tell I can't wait?!?!?). I live with my daughter and her family, and with five people and one bathroom and two kids under 12, you can imagine how much I anticipate having the solitude of my small cabin and my own bathroom! I also love the fact that I can do what I want, when I want. I bring books on my iPad, lounge on my balcony, and take naps so I can stay up for the entertainment. On my last cruise, I enjoyed the company of several couples at dinner, but did not make any acquaintances with other solo cruisers, and that was fine. I am a sociable person, but didn't feel the need. I may ask to be seated with other solo cruisers this time. I'll be sailing on the Celebrity Equinox on Dec. 9, 2017. Oh, and I'm bringing my Mah Jongg set in case anyone wants to play!

Bon Voyage to all of us, and enjoy!
