  1. Thanks to all for the information. A Tux is no more bother to bring than a dark suit so I might as well go for it. I suppose I would be wise to bring a couple of blazers/sport coats also.

I have have checked out the parking and believe we have figured that out also.

We we are looking forward to our cruise.  Thanks again for the responses.

  2. Wife and I are veteran cruisers.  Usually Crystal and also Oceania.  We have decided to try Silver Seas. We are on a 14 day round trip Ft. Lauderdale cruise beginning Jan 4 on Silver Spirit.

I have read info on the website, the "Journal " we were sent and have read posts on cruise critic to get an idea of life on board.  I could not find a roll call for this cruise.

The Journal says there are 3 formal, 7 informal and 4 casual nights.  For formal nights the official line is tux or dark suit for men.  Do many men wear tuxes? Should I bother to bring one?   We will be driving to Ft Lauderdale. (The proximity of the port was a big factor in choosing this cruise.) So with out the hassle of flying we can kinda bring whatever we want.

Also since we will be driving, does anyone have a suggestion for parking in Ft Lauderdale?  Sometimes hotels offer free parking with a night's stay,  Or maybe there is a reasonable and safe place to park near the cruise terminal.

Any other suggestions for someone new to Silver Seas would be appreciated

    Thanks.

  3. Can you get sushi from room service? I enjoy having sushi with a cocktail in my cabin in the late afternoon in my cabin while getting ready for dinner. On past O cruises I went to the Terrace Cafe, put some on a plate , and carried it back to the cabin.

We too enjoy a little pre dinner sushi and cocktails and have done it both ways. Don't know about the other rooms but in PH the butler was happy to bring some sushi (from Terrace I assume) shortly after the Terrace opened. Sometimes though, it just seemed easier to get a small plate ourselves and bring to our room.

  4. In answer to the original question about Vitamin Water, it was in the fridge in the Fitness Center while we were on Marina last spring. I tried it but went back to old fashioned regular water. If they have it in the fitness center I suppose that they might put it in the room fridge if asked. If not, and it's important, you can just get a few and stock yourself.

  5. This will be our fourth Oceania cruise but first on Marina. We will be on deck 11 in 11055. Have always been in PH1s on the smaller ships on Deck 8 and never experienced an issue with noise above us. Hope that will be true during our September cruise on Marina...

In 11073 we had very little problem with noise above us but we were opposite the pantry. The staff using it did not like to close the door and often we heard noise from that pantry. Once at 4 AM.

  6. This will be our fourth Oceania cruise but first on Marina. We will be on deck 11 in 11055. Is there also an overhang on the Marina--looking at the deck plan it looks like there is...? Apparently I missed that detail! Have always been in PH1s on the smaller ships on Deck 8 and never experienced an issue with noise above us. Hope that will be true during our September cruise on Marina...

Yes there is an overhang over the balcony on Marina Deck 11 PH rooms.

We were in 11073 and it did not bother a lot but I suppose deck 10 is better.
