Will you have to pack up every cruise and move to different cabin,  assuming you have the same cabin for your b2b2b.

We did have the same cabin for all 3. When we got the letters, they all came at the same time, so Royal should know and hopefully give us the same cabin or at least close by. If not I will call and see what I can do. I really just want to be on vacation, so not the end of the world.

I was wondering if anybody deliberately shows up a little late for the safety drill.  We usually show up right when called, and then end up crammed behind three rows of people on a hot corridor waiting 20-40 minutes for stragglers.  On our last cruise, my Mother in Law (who is claustrophobic) passed out after 30 mins in these conditions, along with two other people in our section.  The “stragglers” showed up 35 mins late and got put right up front and basically spent less time in those miserable conditions than the “good” people who came right away.  I am thinking of waiting just inside the doors for 20 mins or so, so that we don’t get crammed in the back and wait forever for the drill to start.  I have never seen one start before this time anyway.  Has anyone else ever tried this?  I don’t want to be the last people that everyone has to wait on, but I also don’t want to subject myself to that experience again.

Just ask to stand in front. I do for every cruise.

Another vote for Best Western Condado.  As stated there is Walgreens, CVS, quick walk up to the beach and close to casinos.

Two restaurants we liked were Buenos Ayres and Orozcos.  Right near the hotel.  Was not a fan of the restaurant in the hotel.

We also stay here and frequent these restaurants . Very good food.

Sister Cruise line Celebrity still has chocolates on pillows (or at least it did last time I cruised Celebrity last March).  Disney still has them too but most mainstream cruise lines are phasing them out and actually for a good reason.  I think the majority of people never ate the chocolates because it is almost impossible to be hungry at bedtime on a cruise ship.  My wife and I were on a Disney cruise last month and, at the end of the cruise, we still had all the chocolates they had placed on the pillows each night.  I left them all in the room since I did not want to take them through customs.  Perhaps, the room attendant enjoyed them?

Thank you for the update. But I was answering the OP question about Royal ships.

  5. Last February our DD and DH took their 2 girls 6 & 7 on the Freedom. Did the ABC route. We all snorkeled with Woodwind in Bonaire. (The girls practiced the breathing in the bath tub before they went.) Dee was wonderful and they took to snorkeling like fish to water. Loved it.

in Curaçao, we went to Blue Bay Beach in morning, they walked to bridge and shopped in afternoon.

Aruba, we all went to Eagle Beach.

    St Maarten, beach again.

Second cruise for them out of San Juan, can’t wait to go back.

A tip for all of you flying into San Juan...If there is a long line of people waiting for a taxi (Arriving Level) you can always take the elevator up one level and catch a taxi on the upper level (Departing Level). (This elevator can be seen by the line for taxis) There was a porter there that help us with our luggage that gave us this idea and it save us a lot of time. If you use the porter expect to tip them at least a $1 a bag unless you can wheel them yourself, then save yourself some money

This is a great tip. We did this also in February. Long taxi line!

  7. The Hard Rock Cafe in Old San Juan is closed. They opened up a new Hard Rock Cafe in the Condado. We ate there in February and got the scoop.

We stayed at Best Western, facing water turn right and walk down Ashford Ave a block or two, can’t miss it on the right.

No one has addressed your specific concern even though you clearly asked twice... This is obviously of importance to you... and you are right, it does not have any shade whatsoever. Doesn't matter if this is the greatest excursion in the world (and it truly is one of the best in the entire Caribbean in my opinion as well), if you have major health reasons/concerns being in the sun, then this snorkel trip is probably not good for you.

This is not the new boat.

the new catamaran has shade, we just were with them in February..

8 would be 3 up to pool, windjammer etc, 3 down to promenade.  Makes it easier to avoid elevators, only 3 flights of stairs each way.  That said, we were in a 7 aft on Freedom a couple weeks ago, and will be in a 9 aft in a couple weeks.🙂

How has embarking changed from last year? Is luggage drop off in a different place and no line for D and D+ boarding? Thanks for any “heads up”.

  10. Cruising out of PR in Feb. Hubby wants to book our return flight at 8 am. I don't think that will give us enough time to get off the ship (self carry) to airport and through security. He told me to ask the experts on here. So is it possible?

    No way!

Ship is due in by 6.

    Taxi to airport 15 x 20 minutes

    Agriculture check

    Flight check in

    Security lines

  11. Holiday Beach Resort (otherwise known as Veneto) has declared bankruptcy and the resort is currently closed. Rumor has it there is an interested buyer so that could change.

It's maybe a 15-20 minute walk, might be a bit longer.

    Thank you for the info.

Could you keep us posted, not coming in until February.
