  1. We requested an UBER after getting our bags and UBER told you where the driver would pick you up. We were in a car in under 5 minutes and had an easy drive to Ft Lauderdale! (45 minute ride and with discount, it only cost us $15!!!) A note on UBER.... many drivers do not like driving into the ports so it might take a little longer for someone to pick you up but someone will. Also, you do not have to tip the driver but they REALLY appreciate it and some will rate you less than a 5 if you do not tip, especially on short trips.

So, Uber gets to rate it's passengers on if they tip or not? That's Uber-ridiculous!!!

  2. Thanks so much and glad you have been able to get some good information out of my previous ones. I hope you have a wonderful time on the Breeze when it's your turn.

Why is it always up? I had never even noticed it before. Is it always up and not used anymore?

Just guessing here but, I think since railroad traffic is so seldom, they just leave it up for the more common boat traffic. I sometimes hear on the portmiami marine radio feed the bridge called to be lowered for a train. Then ill see it go down and the train go by.

    Your reviews are awesome.

  3. HEY!!!! the blue railroad bridge that is always up in the port webcam!! You are sooo famous!!!

Of course the seaplane takes off once we had left darnit. I love when they are right beside us but do remember the documentary talking about just how hard these planes are to control while going from the water to the air and just how risky it is, so I guess it's a good thing they are not right beside us.

  4. We (us 4 and mom and dad) stayed at WDW Saratoga Springs MLK weekend in 2015. These few pictures bring back good memories as dad passed in Sept. Saratoga was just a short walk the Disney Springs ( Downtown Disney). Looks like you had fun. I think we might still have candy from Goofys!!!

Even though it was getting late (we didn’t even check in until 8:45 pm), we needed to get some dinner and there was really only one viable option for us: Downtown Disney.

Except Downtown Disney doesn’t exist anymore. Did you know that? I didn’t. They turned it into Disney Springs a couple of months ago. Same concept, same stores and restaurants, bigger space. And parking garages, too. The parking garages were a major upgrade from the mess of a parking lot in the former days of Downtown Disney. The rest of it? TBD. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

As we drove towards Downtown Disney, we caught the fireworks off of Epcot right ahead of us, each boom and blast of brightness saying “Welcome home. We’ve missed you, too.

We parked in that shiny new parking garage and traversed Disney Springs from the parking lot on the West Side to the Marketplace area, stopping into our old stomping grounds at Goofy’s Candy Co to grab some sweet snacks for later.

  5. I have used the search function and found quite a bit of information, but I am a tad confused on getting the "best deal" available.

Background: Booked the only 2 cruises waaaaaaay back before the interwebs was the way to go in research let alone booking. We used a TA back then (1996-1997) and were ok with price/itinerary.

What: We are looking at (4 of us 2 adults 2 kids) June 2016 to Bahamas/Caribbean and see that the June prices are considerably more than the April prices. Is that because its A-more than a year out, and/or B-June starts the "summer" season. I see June of this year is cheaper than next as well.

We have seen here that a PVP would be the way to go as far as easily applying price drops, credits etc. But, I see much talk here of "guaranteed" rate "early saver" rate and "return guest" rates. I do have my past guest number already. The question I have is: what is most beneficial to (in rate choice)the cost savings in what we would want. What we would possibly want is:

Maybe the scenic view room up front

    Definitely NOT interior

    lower floors are ok

fore mid aft- no real preference

I hope the info I gave helps others help me.

    HAPPY SAILING ALL!!

  6. I have some friends that went on several NCL cruises, free, through Harahh's (now Caesars). They love them, went on several, and are going again in one week. You will not be let down.

Not to hijack the thread but.....You may be the perfect person to ask..

I received a "free" cruise cert from Harrah's for NCL...I have only cruised Carnival and was not going to use it, but then I thought Hey..It's almost free..that would be dumb lol

I think because it is so expensive in general and I would get a hell of a deal I am going to do Alaska in July on either the Pearl or the Jewel (I see you have done the Sun, but I wanted to fly out of the US and can't for her ) will cost me about $400 for fees and taxes a person

Is the big difference the dinning? and isn't YTD on Carnival basically the same as Freestyle? is the whole general experience on NCL and Carnival very similar? I have had nothing but great experiences with Carnival but NCL is worth a try..especially for this price!!

My other option is the Getaway to the Carrib but I have done all those ports multiple times...

  7. All good info.

We are possibly looking at June 2016 cruise. Carnival's site only shows rates up to April 2016. Is it safe to say prices should be at or near the April rate for June? I know it depends on ship and destination, but in general is what im looking for.

Also, would it be best to deal with a Carnival agent rather than online for booking. I am looking "best" meaning: ease of refunding $$ if price drops, possible upgrades, and better rates overall.

    Thanks all!!!

Your review are great and bring back memories from the good ole days.

  8. Hi all,

New to forum, so go easy.

Last cruises were in 1996 & 1997 on Ecstasy & Inspiration respectively . Regarding dining times I see all new options on Carnival website. I see "dine when you want" and burger joints etc.

My question is: do they still have the "early" 6pm-ish, and "late" 8pm-ish dining times and the regular dining rooms? Although I know I will visit other dining areas too, I like the pace of the regular seating.

Hoping to set sail in June 2016, this time children in tow.
