  1. Thanks for such a great review! I am a bit new to the CC site but have really found it useful and I was so excited to see your review and all the details and pictures. Honestly it was like a novel I couldn't put down.

My daughter and I are going on the Pride in November for a "Thanksgiving" cruise and I am a little OCD about wanting to see and learn all I can about the ships I sail on. (think that comes from a disappointing cruise on an older RCL ship) This is my daughters second cruise and I am testing the waters of just her and I cruising alone. (she's 9)

Again thank you for all your time in putting these reviews up and I plan to check out your others to see where I want to go next.

Did have one question since you obviously cruise a lot...any real deals or benefits form booking next cruise while onboard?

  2. Ashley,

Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I was just curious if lunch was a preset menu or you you could make a selection? Could non seafood eaters find something to eat? :-)

Sounds like a nice excursion and the limited size is nice! I want to escape to a private island but as that is not an option I definitely like the idea of a more private type excursion.

  3. This is what I received earlier this week when I contacted the Hilton directly. It appears that it is a little cheaper to book online than directly at the hotel. The walk is no more than 10 minutes and it is through shopping areas so if you dont get side tracked shopping :-) or if you want to break up the walk it is nice to shop along the way.

"The British Colonial Hilton does offer Day Passes to guests. The price for the Day passes is $65.00 per adult, kids half price (12yrs and under) Kids under 5 eat and play free with paying adult. The Day Pass includes access to the hotel's pool, beach, kayak equipment, towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and lunch ($40 food and beverage voucher). Day Pass tickets are available for your arrival. Snorkeling is available with your day pass (Snorkel gear ,If available). On your arrival to the hotel, the day passes can be bought at the Front Desk. Please check link for availability and online purchase option, http://bahamascruiseexcursions.com/NassauHiltonResortPass.htm or http://www.resortforaday.com/British-Colonial-Hilton-Day-pass-p/nsnabch.htm. The Day Pass starts from 7 am (lifeguard on duty until 5pm). The Day Passes are only sold with the Food and Beverage voucher and cannot be sold separately from the Day Pass. Thank you for the information.....I walked passed the Hilton last cruise I went on and yeah the beach seemed a bit smaller than the pics of Melia and the Melia pools looked nicer which my daughter loves to swim in the pool and the combo of beach and pools is what I am looking for. Plus last time we walked to public beach and was ok but looking for something more.

Ans you would say the bus is safe for single lady w/ daughter? (Overly paranoid mother here lol)

  5. Stratcat

Did you have to find your own transportation to Melia? If so how much was that? I like the idea of being able to walk to the Hilton and it is only myself and my young daughter so not very comfortable with finding random taxi :-)

  6. carefree20 thank you so much for the information, I really appreciate it! I always worry about scams when I just do a search for things like that and always better to find out from people who have "been there and done that"! :-)

  7. I went last year with my daughter and for her it was fine for a few hours. We just walked as it is a pretty easy walk and there are shops along the way. There was some trash in the sand but nothing horrible, just sit on towel or chair. The walk back was a little uncomfortable for my daughter as we didn't see a place to shower off but there may be a shower there that we didn't see. I did have a local come up and ask if I wanted illegal substances but as soon as I said no he left and never saw him again. All in all for a free beach to walk to with limited time it was good. We did that and a quick bus tour in the time we had.

  8. Yeah I am hoping she responds...if not I will ask around to see if others have been on the NCL cruise. I noticed you do not use NCL often, if you dont mind me asking, is there a reason?

For my limited experience I still love my Princess cruise and would love to go on another but am trying to avoid FL ports :-) Can never seem to find the perfect ship, itinerary, dates, and port combo lol

  9. Like so many others I found Crusinmama06 experience and advice to be worth searching her out. So cruisemama06 if you have the time :-) I am planning a cruise for myself and my daughter looking at the NCL Breakaway as I really want to go to Bermuda and she wants to see NYC so great compromise...I am worried about the negative reviews of food and extra costs.

My daughters cruise requests (this being her 2nd and my 5th) is bingo, trivia and shows on the ship with preferred slides. My daughter though she is 8 loves to go to with me to bingo and go to trivia and shows and did not like the "kids" activities on the Carnival Fascination last April. Neither of us are "foodies" though I do like and hope for good food on a cruise, I do not require lobster and steak :-)

Overall, what are your thoughts on the Breakaway and would you recommend for a single mom with a soon to be 9 year old daughter

    Thanks!

    Heather
