  1. My daughter and I took the SM2 excursion while we were in port. The crew was UNBELIEVABLE! Cody was so great with my daughter (11) because she was very nervous about the turtles. He was so sweet that it made her feel very comfortable about jumping in to swim with them. The skipper (Mimi, I think [emoji51]) took us to a spot to see the turtles - there were what seemed like hundreds of bobbing heads in the water - she left and took us to another spot. It was a beautiful 45m ride. We were the only boat! Kevin jumped in and we got to swim with 2 BEAUTIFUL turtles all to ourselves (only 12 people). Then we were able to swim after a delicious lunch! By this time my daughter was confident enough to jump off the back of the catamaran!!

  2. T-minus 48hrs!! So glad you have been posting about the islands. I’ve been sharing them with my husband! FINALLY decided on a culinary walking tour in OSJ on Friday night. Leave RI @ 5:45a. We get in @1p. Tour is @5. To say we will be exhausted is an understatement - but WHO CARES- were on VACATION!! Ok. Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system... [emoji6]

  3. Have you been to San Juan before? If not, I would likely choose OSJ/El Morro especially since you will likely not be settled and ready to head out until later in the afternoon. That way you can spend some time at El Morro and then walk the streets and have a nice dinner in OSJ.

Other options include waking up early on Saturday and going to El Yunque before the crowds get there/getting on the ship a little later or getting on the ship as early as possible and then doing a quick trip to El Yunque on Saturday (since the ship does not depart until 8:30, all aboard is not until 7:30 or so). There is also the option of doing El Yunque on Friday (although you will have to move fairly quickly since Puerto Rico is on the far eastern edge of the time zone and the sun sets early - just before 7:00) and then visit OSJ on Saturday (either after boarding the ship or before). Wow - lots of choices if you really want to do both!!!

If it was me, I would probably do OSJ on Friday and go to El Yunque early Saturday morning. Truth be told, with the La Mina trail still closed, you can see the Tower, La Coca Falls, Puente Roto and Angelito (stopping at the first river and not going all the way) in a couple of hours. You will however need a rental car or arrange for a private driver...

    Hope that helps1

Thanks! I think Friday we will nap - plane leaves for SJ @545! Dinner in OSJ that night will b nice. Any suggestions? My husband is a “foodie “ and likes the authentic dishes that each country is known for. Thanks in advance!

  4. Is $43 pp for a reserved chair and a drink really necessary:eek:? I'm reading $7.00 pp each way by shuttle. Will chairs be available to rent?

SO glad that you asked this, my husband wants to go to Nevis but my daughter and I just want the beach! We are sailing on FOS 8/4/18 and are interested in Cockleshell Bay. Have you been there before?

  5. I have spoken with Captain Eddie and he says if you experience difficulty contacting CR through the website you can message them on facebook or email them directly at info@coolrunningsbarbados.com. I'm happy to answer any questions if you have any. The truth is, you really can't go wrong with any catamaran in Barbados :)

I think my daughter (12) and I will be going on the catamaran, whereas my husband wants to go to Brandon’s Beach. Although, the thought of just relaxing with no one around sounds like heaven!

  6. I really wish we would have gone to Brandon's while we were in Barbados. Locals even told us it was very nice, but we already had purchased an excursion to Pirate's Cove. PC was nice, but probably wouldn't go back.

I am totally stuck between just going to Brandon's or going snorkeling with Cool Runnings catamaran. Not sure if I would have time to do both!

  7. We are sailing on the FOTS in 28 days!!! Just a little excited! My daughter and I both have cell phones, my husband has one but it really needs to be returned to the Smithsonian ;) In order for us to stay in contact with out daughter (turning 12 during the cruise) while on the ship, do I have to have WI FI?

  8. I am a child therapist and a mother to three children. I've met hundreds of parents who were in complete denial about their children's rude or bullying behavior. Are my kids an exception? No. My kids can be twits on occasion, too.

Yes, I agree, my daughter can be a twit too...LOL....

  9. OK, so we won't be in Barbados until June 27th, but we have booked the 3 hour tour with Action (Stiletto). They were MUCH easier to contact than others I tried, and replied quickly to answer all questions I had. Don't know when you're cruising, but I will be travelling with my husband, 19 year old daughter and 11 year old son. We are not drinkers either. If you'd like I can give more info after we return.

That would be wonderful! Yes, CR seems to be very slow with the response. Have a great time!

  10. We have narrowed it down to these two excursions while we are in Barbados (FOS Aug 4). Has anyone used either tour company? We aren’t looking for a “party” boat - hubby doesn’t really drink and our 11y/o dtr will be with us. Any insight will be GREATLY appreciated!!
