Any one know the info on getting from Sant Petersburg to Moscow?
Tours/ tour guide Visa info.?
Thanks
Marty
It mostly depends on your personal situation. Many tour companies have Mocow day tours with blanket visa included. It is only 4 hours by train or one hour by air. Or if you want to stay longer in Moscow you need Russian visa. There are special threads describing the process of getting it.

I prefer to avoid difficulties so one company to book for all the Baltic ports was the only way, we booked Best Guides. They were the most fast and proficient to reply and go ahead:D

That's really too bad. St. Petersburg is one port where I'd hate not to have 2 full days.
How did your tour company handle it? Did you just miss out on whatever was scheduled for Day 1?
I simply worry about these kind of situations..So what is the answer?

You will need to be on a small ship to moor at English Bridge, which is near the centre of the city ( Azamara perhaps?)
The larger ships are out at a new purpose built port, close to the stadium which will be used for the World Cup in 2018.
yes, it always depends on the ship - we hoped for an in-city landing area but it appeared to be an industrial zone. I was really disappointed..

Catherine Palace was one of our brilliant moments ! You should see it!

My other souvenir was a book of Russian fairytales for my nieces - they loved it!

Hi I have just come back from 24 day cruise on Holland America Zuiderdam and went on 2 day tour with TJ Travel in St. Petersburg. I agree with others here....top notch.....top marks 10/10. Absolutely excellent. Dina was our guide and was quite awesome. Her knowledge was amazing with touches of humour and never boring. We had a group of 11 and Dina was on the ball the whole time. They were waiting at the ship for us both days and there were no hitches at all. Highly recommend :)
It sounds as you are recommending a guide, not a company) I can imagine how Dina was perfect!

By the way, what are the most famous and popular ballets in Mariinski? Must-sees for ballet lovers? I want to arrange evening in the theatre for us in St.P...
Have you already booked your cruise? If yes you probably won't have a big choice, they have one performace per day.But anyway it should be great, Mariinski is so famous!

I've just e-mailed the manager of the Best Guides and she told me that we two are the only participants in the group tour in May. As it is rather soon I'm afraid that they could cancel this tour because of the amount of people in the group. I'm very nervous because of this situation, does anyone know is it possible that the tour will be cancelled? Probably anyone had this kind of experience or heard about something similar? Many thanks in advance!

While trying to book a tour in St. Petersburg I'm getting more and more confused: what company to choose? I was suggested 4 companies: SPb, Alla Tours, Best Guides and TJ and I've already e-mailed them all. I liked all the answers, the prices are more or less the same, the suggested itinerary too, there are just a few differences. Please, help! Does anyone have suggestions, advices?
P.S. we are traveling with two children - 9 and 11 years old
Thanks in advance!

We are going to the Baltic cruise this summer and cause we are on a budget we would like to find the best prices for two-day tour in St. Petersburg. Of course we are not interested in ship-provided excursions as well as in getting visa. All advices and recommendations are welcome:)

It is quite a challenge to find cruise covering both destinations. As it was said above you could find two back-to-back cruises from Copenhagen but I've never seen any cruise with ports both in Fjords and Russia.
