  4. My first 14 day cruise was a honeymoon/one year anniversary celebration. On return home I noticed I did not have my custom-made tanzanite necklace my grandmother had given me or tanzanite earrings my parents had given me. For years and years I regretted that I must have left them in the safe on that cruise. I wore those pieces at my wedding and could not believe I could be so careless. When visiting family I was always thankful no one asked about the necklace. And when traveling would double then triple check our rooms before leaving them.

Then, within the past month, we are cleaning my husband's bureau and there is a small jewelry gift box. The pieces were inside! My past self had taken the advice to not travel with expensive pieces and to not leave them behind in the blatantly obvious jewelry box in case someone broke into the house while we were on travel.

It took years, but I thought I would share a happy ending to things lost on cruises.

I have, however, lost to the wind and over the side of a catamaran, a Celebrity hat I won from a Celebrity Life Activity--my ponytail was not long enough.

  5. Thanks everyone! Right now I am thinking I will call the concierge and see if they have a height dimension. Then call Grandma and have her practice at home and let us know. I will check to see if anyone cancels their 6144/43 Sky suite since they sound nice.

And thanks for the idea that she might be able to swing over.

  6. Adding to this thread.

Please give your opinion on the following. We currently have a CS booked on an M-class ship. Everyone keeps mentioning the tub is high. We are treating my grandma to the "suite life," but she is in her late 80s. I am now wondering if we should sacrifice our privacy for a Sky Suite to make it easier for her to get in on her own. I have only experienced a Sky Suite tub height on Eclipse which I think she could manage since she has a tub/shower combination at home.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I can’t answer for Celebrity, but having sailed on both classes recently I believe I can offer reasonable hypotheses. Connie is smaller, carries significantly fewer pax, has an additional bank of elevators, and now has MUTS. A smaller ship has more docking options, fewer pax should mean easier egress from the ship, more elevators should allow better pax flow, and many people have a passionate attachment to MUTS.

IMO the benefit of the third bank of elevators was somewhat negated during the retrofit to add Aqua cabins. I sailed on both Reflection & Summit last year, and I did NOT have easier egress from Summit, though I can’t be certain that wasn’t due to fellow pax, crew or itinerary specific issues. MUTS is irrelevant to me, but I do see why people enjoy it.

Connie and her sisters are lovely ships, but despite retrofits they lack some newer features found on S-class. When asking why I should pay more for the same itinerary on M-class ships, I invariably go a step further to ask myself why I should pay twice as much on Azamara for a smaller cabin and a bathroom that seems similar to that found in my uncle’s old motor home (caravan) lol. Celebrity charges these rates because they can. They can charge them because enough pax prefer the advantages of smaller ships over the advantages of larger, newer ships. BTW DH and I wouldn’t hesitate to book another cruise in M-class if the itinerary appealed to us, but we wouldn’t pay a premium over S-class for similar itineraries.

    What is MUTS?

Can I bring non-alcoholic beverages aboard with me?

Yes. You may bring unlimited non-alcoholic beverages aboard with you. This includes cases of water, soft drinks, juices, non-alcoholic mixers, etc.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages aboard with me?

Yes, but it is restricted. You may bring up to two standard-sized (750 ml) bottles of wine per stateroom on board at embarkation. Other alcoholic beverages (beer or spirits) that is brought on board at embarkation will be confiscated and will not be returned.

    Thank you for the information.

It's our first time with Celebrity, and first time bringing any beverages on board. Do you think they consider port wine a spirit due to its high ABV%? Ours is 20% and don't want to risk the bottle. How do you bring the allowed two bottles on board? In our luggage?

Also, we are planning to bring a small case of seltzer water, possibly with one bottle of syrup, do we put this in our luggage? Do we leave it loose? Do we carry it on board and then have to lug it around until our state room is ready? Does the bottle of syrup need to be unopened?

We will be leaving and returning to Miami, FL. If we do not finish the case or the bottles of wine can we bring them back into the states? Is it only allowed if they are unopen?
