The cruise was fine -the hilite was Gerry our waiter(& his helpers  Pat & wine steward) at table 530!

A great team, Gerry, Patrick and Somellier Madelaine they really looked after us at the later seating for that table.

  2. Hope that somebody will be able to clear a confusion regarding visas.

COLOMBO. Is a Transit visa enough to go on a shore excursion which is free or they require a Tourist visa?

There is a lot of confusion regarding what type of visa you need to spend a few hours in Colombo.

MUSCAT (OMAN). What type of visa do you need to go on shore in Muscat? Does Celebrity organize this?

Any answers will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

On a Suez transit ,. Celebrity organised our visa for Muscat, which was for a maximum of 48 hours stay in the country. I assumed similar for most nationalities, We are UK citizens. Can not speak of requirements for Colombo.

  3. We are scheduled on the Equinox 24 April 2017 TA. According to Celebrity, that TA will be cancelled, and Equinox will be permanently deployed to the Caribbean.

Information should be forthcoming from Celebrity.

Intriguing, The westbound TA departing 3 nov 2017 is still being sold on the UK website. !

  4. Hi - We are cruising on Celebrity Reflection 25 April 2016. Wondering with the new dress codes how many men are actually still wearing formal dinner suits?

I think its sad they have have decided to downgrade the formal evenings. It is such a lovely and special thing to dress up for the evening and if you don't want to you are quite at liberty to go to the less formal buffet restaurants. Anyone been recently to give an opinion whether men are dressing up/or down??

Will be joining you on the Reflection and will be bringing DJ. On two recent cruises in Asia a good number of men were wearing DJ's. Similarly, in December in Carib quite a good number also. Perhaps a number of guests from Miami did not join us that cruise or perhaps did not know what 'chic' meant either . Lol.

  5. "........You can't use your OBC in the casino or for tips........................"

If you really want to use it for say end of cruise tips. Bar staff, sommelier etc. ask for a zero bill and write in an extra tip.

  6. I have been watching this cruise as we would like to join it. We have a reservation on the 03rd of January sailing but think we prefer the 17th. Hope it comes back on for sale.

I have contacted Celebrity UK. Who state that there is no availability at the moment. If there was to be any change in routing, we would be contacted. I think, MAYBE AS IT GETS CLOSER TO FINAL PAYMENT, some availabilty may arise.

  7. Why do I have a niggling suspicion that although the new 'Select' package is currently offered with just Oceanview cabins that in the near future Celebrity will move the boundaries and Balconys will be offered with the Select package.

Similar thought, why does Concierge not get the premium package ? Since there is certainly a "premium" for the cabin !

  8. Looks like the UK further muddy the waters ?

    • a) Book an Oceanview stateroom and receive a Select Drinks Package + $50 On-board Spend; or
    • b) Book a Balcony or Concierge stateroom and receive a Classic Drinks Package + $100 On-board Spend; or
    • c) Book an Aqua Class or above stateroom and receive a Premium Drinks Package + $150 On-board Spend.

Extract from todays 'offers' on the Celebrity UK website.

  9. If so, I should like to provide feedback on the new UK website.

I think that it is dreadful.

.......................................You have made a huge mistake with this change.

At least the stupid beta version that has been off and on for the last two weeks appears to have disappeared. Now , further subtle changes show that you do not appear to be able to put a 24 hour hold on a cabin for example. Why ? We dont need so called upgrades just working consistency.

Why also, does Celebrity think that we only wish to travel in Europe. Please lets have the same offers as the US, I appreciate the pricing may be different but at least have the same "perks" for at least outside the US destinations. I'll buy most folks a drink, but I don't want to pay for half the ship !

Like Sue, I also worked in IT before it was ever called "IT" [1969).

  10. Cruising on the Eclipse to Norway in May, it is our first cruise so would appreciate thoughts on these upgrade offers we received today, all from an inside cabin:-

    .....................................

    To a balcony £130pp

    To a concierge suite £150pp

    To Aqua class £170pp

    !

Welcome to Cruise Critic. Even if you do not move cabins you will enjoy the Eclipse. A great choice for a first cruise. All the upgrade deals are good value. Personally, I would go for the concierge upgrade because you are likely to get a balcony in a much better position on the ship. Because it is your first cruise you should also experience the main dining room (MDR), which is fabulous. Go for Aqua class on your next cruise, or the one after that, or after that. I dont think you will have the time to experience all that Aqua has to offer. Only my own opinion of course. BUT, you are guaranteed to have a fabulous cruise. It may snow, but you will be used to that in Durham perhaps.

    Cheers from Lancashire.

  11. Sadly, this promotion is not available in the UK. So "what's new" I hear you say.

ie. "Save up to $1,000 plus get FREE drinks, FREE gratuities,

or up to $300 to spend on board—or get it all* "

  12. Thanks Roy, it does seem to be closing in.

Can't seem to find the Order History button, where abouts is it ?

This worked on Celebrity UK's new Beta site., its a bit long winded though. There is probably an easier way.......

    Celebrity's new front page

    1. Top left - select MENU

    2. down the Page -select Your Booking

    3. === - select Check in - Enter log in details

4 Top of Page - select My Celebrity

    5. Select reservation - select Manage Reservation

    - select Explore Cruise Planner

6 Top of Page -select Order History

This should then list the Package that you purchased albeit for £0.00.

Have a Great Trip on the Equinox, you will really enjoy her.

    Roy -

  13. Does it show anywhere on your edocs that you have the drinks package. I have the code on my invoice provided by my TA and was produced by Celebrity UK, but it doesn't show anywhere else. When I go online to try and upgrade to a premium package its asking for the full hit, not just the upgrade price.

    Any ideas ?

I have not seen any reference in the e-docs, But, in the 'Order History' of the 'Cruise Planner' ours shows the following

    Beverage Packages

    Wave Promo - Classic Package

    View Order Details Paid 0.00GBP

I think the only way to upgrade to premium is either ring Celebrity UK or wait until onboard. I usually wait until onboard.

    Hope foregoing helps a little.

PS Looks like it could be a bit misty tonight in Manchester
