  1. We have been to Carambola twice and Reggae Beach once. They are close to each other on Cockleshell Beach. For both beaches just take a cab early and get there way before the ship excursions. Don't wait for a van, just keep walking outside the port and cans will be there for a similar price. Cabs are always at the beaches too to take you back at any time.

The beach is much bigger at Carambola and just nicer imho. When the excursions arrive there is more room to spread out when compared to Reggae.

If you arrive just early in the morning, you might see the monkeys that are in the trees along the road behind the beach bars.

  2. I was wondering if they have a "silent disco" on the Summit? I've read a few older reviews that mentioned it but nothing recently. Thanks

Yes, Silent Disco was held two nights on our June 17th 10 day. So much fun for all ages. It is very popular so definitely arrive early to be sure you get headphones.

  3. You can wear anything you mentioned. Dresses, capris, pants, leggings, all OK. You may not even notice a difference in Blu regarding dress on Chic nights. Personally, I wear a lot of dresses since they are easier to pack than pants and tops.

  4. Just off Bermuda/NE cruise. Yes, the ship is worn, but the service was great in our opinion. Immigration and tendering, well that's a different topic.I agree with Aurora-the folding chairs in Ocean View really bugged me too. As for some of the regular chairs, I felt like I was going to go right through them when I sat down.

  5. Thanks for the review, what were the perks this time around for future cruises being booked on board

    Thanks in advance

We booked onboard Equinox in June. Only perk was drink package and $150 OBC. We have since transferred our booking to another company and now have drinks, tips, and $425 OBC.

Very dissapointed with the Celebrity offers.

  6. I guess it depends on what time you plan on arriving. I always wear my bathing suit with a cover-up when we board.

In June, we were on the ship by 10:45 and spent several hours lounging up on deck. Plenty of time for sun and lunch, and becoming oriented before muster

  7. We were in AQ on the Equinox 7/2 - 7/9 and it was great. Blu was wonderful and our servers (Yasar and Johanna) were phenomenal. I'd recommend asking for their section as they are also by the window!

We were on the 6/18 cruise. We loved Blu-another suggestion is Raymond-his section is also by the windows!

  8. We refer to The Ensemble Lounge as The Tomb. The windows are totally covered with seemingly black-out curtains. The only way you could read in there would be with a back-lit Kindle.

It was dim in the evenings, but we liked the contrast from some of the other areas on the ship. Ensemble Lounge has the best wine selection-it was the only place we could order the same wine we had in Blu.

  9. We were on this cruise in Aqua class. We had a wonderful experience in Blu for all dinners and several breakfasts.

We also found the Oceanview Cafe to be just fine for lunch or on the mornings we slept too late for Blu. We tend to lean more towards healthy food, so we had many choices of salads, fruits, and just about anything we wanted. The manager was visible and "on it" everyday. One complaint was the difficulty of finding a seat, but that is to be expected.

  10. We agree that this crew was fantastic, we had a great cruise-even with Tropical Storm Cindi.

A couple of observations about Gastropub. It is touted as a sports bar with an extensive beer list. My husband thought it was the perfect spot the first afternoon to watch the end of the US Open, but was dissapointed to find it closed in entirety for a private event. This happened several more times during the week, although only a portion of the pub was affected.

The beer list is impressive for a cruise bar, however, when we asked questions about unfamiliar brews, we found that some of the staff did not have a lot of knowledge on them. Otherwise-it is a nice spot with a relaxed pub atmosphere.

  11. I think people are saying there is just no way to tell. I really don't pay too much attention to what is typical. Each cruise we go on I bring my sea bands and a package of Dramamine. In the reported calmest of seas seasons we have had it rough and then just the opposite.

What is rough to one person may not be to another so just prepare for anything.

  12. South Friars-definitely for a Beach Day. One time we went to Reggae Beach-small, crowded, nice people but would not go again.

Carambola Beach Club is beautiful. I would recommend going on your own and early. Ask for Marge at the Welcome Center. She drives a cab as opposed to the vans. Same price, did not have to wait for the van to fill up before leaving, and we arrived at the beach at least an hour before everyone we saw at the port. And, 2 hours ahead of excursions. By the time they showed up chairs were gone.

Marge returned at the time we requested to take us on the scenic tour back to port.

  13. After our most recent experience in Aqua on the Summit, I would think twice about Aqua, at least on this ship. Blu was very nice and we enjoyed our dinner experience-breakfast was a different story. Our cabin was on deck 11. Nothing special, in fact our room-and those around us were very warm and downright uncomfortable temperature wise.

As for service, our travel companions stated they received much better service last May on Deck 8 in an inside cabin. We felt the same about our cruise last December in concierge. We had to ask for many things-second bathrobe, refills on shower gel, shampoo etc.

When they put in the movie screen on Deck 12-aqua on 11 will be awful. We were left with the feeling that that deck was the step-Aqua rooms.

We love the Persian Gardens, but have paid for the week without Aqua. We didn't notice anyone checking sea passes either, anyone could have walked in.

Our first experience in Aqua was on an S-class ship, much different. I think next time, we will go concierge, pay for specialty dining and Persian gardens with on board ship credits.
