  1. Sailing in April on the Miracle out of Long Beach and will be flying into LAX the day before.  Looking for an inexpensive hotel for the night before as well as transportation to the port.  Not looking to break the bank but would like to find something close to food and shopping.  Not having any luck with finding much info.  If anyone can assist me I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

  2. I don't think it isn't selling out. I think they are increasing the amount of packages they are selling. On the first cruise we bought it on there were only about 50 of us in the FTTF area. Last July there were well over 100 of us in the FTTF area. I think they open a few more then sell them. Then later they open more and sell some more.

  3. when we sail to Cozumel we arrive at noon. Then going to playa mia and looking for something to do after that. maybe going downtown to eat, wander the streets, and bar hop. are those places open after 5-6 at night and is it safe to wander the streets in the evening? any issues with getting a cab back to the port at night? Let me know.

    Thanks

  4. We have a group of 10. Four are young pups at 16, 18, 20, & 21. Rest are 40+ going on the victory in July to Cozumel. Debating between Mr. Sanchos, Paradise beach, or Playa Mia. The young pups will want to play on the blow up water toys. We don't need an all inclusive since none of us drink enough to make it worth it. There will be four ships in port that day with our ship being the last to arrive. What are your thoughts as to our best option? Thanks

  5. When I was going through the online check in, it asks for a specific check in time. What is the deal with that? Is carnival really assigning check in times? Are they turning people away if you show up prior to your time? Also how does this work if you have faster to the fun? We like to show up and board early. Not sure I would like it if we end up with a afternoon time to board the ship.

  6. we are sailing the empress on Monday and are looking forward to it. there are several folks on a few other sites that have sailed recently and posted positive reviews so things are getting better and people are enjoying this ship. For all of you folks cruising on the empress in July, I will give you the low down when we get back.

  7. We sail on the Empress on the 20th and I want to see some pictures of the refurbished ship. I also want to see pictures of the current menus, and pictures of any cruise compasses out there for the five day to grand cayman and key west.

I also have a couple questions.

Do they have the quest game on this ship?

Do they have the 70s disco?

Last but not least how long did it take to get through customs getting off the ship in Key West

Not looking for any negativity about this ship, or why I should change to another ship or anything else that someone thinks it bad about this ship. We are looking forward to sailing and can not wait to add it to our list of sailed ships.

To anyone who has sailed the Empress since it has sailed on May 28th that can assist me with the above it is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  8. My advice:

If possible, move to another ship! Now! It isn't worth it.

this is not an option without losing half of your money. We are on the same sailing and we look forward to sailing the Empress. I must be one of the few that isn't real worried about much of what I have read. The Empress is the smallest ship in the fleet so it is a given that the pool, the windjammer, beleros, and other places on the ship are going to be smaller then the other ships. That doesn't mean people won't or can't have an enjoyable cruise on this small ship.

  9. We sail the Empress on the 20th. With all the excitement / complaints / disappointments right now about the ship I thought I would call and see what my options were if we decided we wanted to switch or cancel. The poor guy I talked to told me according to the information he has the empress is 100% fully operational for its first sailing today. He informed me that there wasn't a sailing that left on Saturday the 28th. That today was the first sailing out of dry dock. As of minutes ago there have been no logged incidents or complaints about things not working on the Empress. Can the customer service people be that in the dark about things to not know this ship sailed on Saturday and that people are not happy with the ship? It was quite the entertaining conversation.

  10. we stay at the embassy suites. been there twice and will be there again in another month and will book again for next july as well. Hotel is great. The breakfast is awesome. you are a couple blocks from a grocery store, many restaurants and fast food, and walgreens. not to mention if you get a room on the south side of the building you have a great view of the cruise ships in port.

  11. Will be in Key West on the Empress of the seas in June. which place is the best to rent an electric car from. we were there last June and thought it would be nice to get one to travel around the island. Let me know your experiences with these.

    thanks
