The fact I have to buy it for a non drinking cruise mate as well makes it not worth it, although obviously that is a policy that probably needs to exist.

Carnival now has staggered check in. So what time slot that is on your boarding pass you will not be allowed into the building until your time slot. They are very strict about it. You can come anytime after but not before. Enterprise rent a car located down the street you can pick up a car in lax and pay a extra drop off fee and drop it off in Long Beach. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. We have a late check in slot due to the last minute booking and I read some threads on the slots since I took a few years off from cruising. We are at the doubletree maya where my car will stay, so a rental is not needed.
However, I am unfamiliar with the long beach port (previously an east coast cruiser), so I am unsure if there are some porters available to take our bags when we arrive, since I need to vacate doubletree earlier than my slot. I am assuming based on a previous reply in this thread that there are available porters to grab our bags, and then we can head over to the queen mary to kill some time, grab a coffee, before our slot.

Things have been changing at Long Beach. Could check in your bags early and then see if you can check in early.
If not, check out the Queen Mary. They offer free basic admission for those sailing on Carnival.

Thanks, good advice. I am ok with the scheduled time, really just need to get rid of my luggage then we can kill a few hours if we need to.

was coming to ask the same question, carnivals FAQs seem to be down (error 404 on them all day). Used to be one bottle per person. AND it had to be in your carry on.
-
Anyone have any updated info on this? OP, did you show up early and get on? We are in the same boat, just booked a cruise for Nov 4 and booked hotel maya....of course, this last minute type booking meant the early check in times were gone. We can wait until 11am, check out and head over to the pier, but that still gets us there almost 3 hours before our checkin. Anyone have issues with the getting on the ship before your assigned check in time in Long Beach?

Thank you! In that one - thought there was one specific to the Carnival rewards
haha, no. But that does explain why you could not find it. In my initial answer I only mentioned the group to answer someone who was just starting out who was most likely not in it yet.
-
Do you have a link to those groups? I can't find them!
Don't want to violate any rules here...but in facebook do a search for myvegas friends.

I just saw this thread and began playing the games. How can I get more points and friends to play with and send gifts with?
Join one of the major facebook groups associated with the myvegas. There are places to request myvegas friends on those sites.
To earn loyalty points (LPs) you can do the following:
- play myvegas on facebook - when you reach higher levels there are nice LP amounts you can win on your daily spins (and if you are maxed out with friend that amount gets multiplied by 8)
- play my Konami Slots on EITHER facebook or mobile - you can play on both but your numbers are synched, it is not two different games
- play my vegas slots mobile
- play my vegas blackjack (probably the best way to get chips, by collecting the card sets for all the different styles of blackjack you get very nice LP rewards.
- play pop!slots on mobile (you need to pay attention when you play this one, the slot players release balloons and sometimes there are LPs inside the balloons. Probably the least effective way to get LPs, but I find the games the most entertaining.
The LPs will by synched through all the accounts as long as you are connected to your facebook account when you play.

My wife scored the 4 day carnival imagination MyVegas cruise out of Long Beach 5 days ago and we booked Friday with no hassle. The staff appears to have been trained on the reward. Have your VIFP numbers available so they can add them to your reservation, ours showed up on the CCL website the same day.
I scored the 4 day carnival inspiration, but have not booked yet. As someone mentioned previously, we joined one of the Facebook groups that track the reward refreshes and one day we got a notification and they were available. It took a while though so its frustrating, and then the rewards stopped being available for a few weeks, but we were patient and they returned.
Will have to see if we can get our OBC for being a shareholder. Only $50 on a four nighter, but better than nothing.

Same question as lbfluffy, if you do priceline can you park your car at the hotel for a week?
-
Phone stays locked in the safe for 7 days. Best seven days of the year. This is my week.
-
See you there! Can't wait.

I always email a pdf of the most recent account statement to guestadmin@carnival.com along with our names, booking number, ship and sailing date. Super easy.
Thank you very much, that was the information I was looking for! :)

If you have not done the chefs table it is a different experience than the steakhouse and cannot be judged by price alone. I would choose the chefs table as long as no children were involved, as I imagine it would be a long boring meal for most (but not all) diners under 18.

We stay on ship at Port Canaveral and Freeport, relaxing and enjoying the lightly populated ship. Great day to enjoy the usually crowded ship amenities.

I have read this thread through and it is great to see all the positive pride comments. I was on the Valour in2010 and one of the things dh and I loved about the mdr menu was the home cooking favorites (fried chicken, meatloaf ). I know it seems weird but for a picky it was nice to know there was fall back items to choose from. Was that just a Valour thing because all the posts and pics I have seen about the menu on the pride do not show them?
Yeah, all those things are there, although I missed the meatloaf because we did the Chef's Table, and would do it again with no hesitation.
The last night (night seven) is the bacon mac and cheese, my wife and I both ordered it since there was so much praise for it in these forums....but we also ordered a panko breaded jumbo shrimp to share since we saw it at the next table. Glad we did that as it was very nicely done. Great crab cake the last night also, really surprised me.

Also - for the Feb 17th-24th cruise, we did not get on board until about 1:30. The entire waiting area was packed with people. Apparently they previous cruise had some issues disembarking, not entirely sure, but people were waiting a long time in the holding area.

i saw somewhere on 1 of these boards (no heat on the Chrismtas cruise) recently that the Pride has no individial heat in the cabins. They said you can turn the AC off, but no where does heat come out of the vent. Can anyone verify this for me.
Just got off the Pride today. We had no control over the temperature in our cabin, other than to open the balcony door. Nor did my mother in law in her cabin. Basically we found it uncomfortably warm when trying to sleep, although for some reason around 6 in the morning it seemed to cool off.
Great ship though, in really nice condition, lots of public space and a super staff.

Yes, you did get my attention! Can't wait for the review.
-
The last thing i want to think is $cost of the drinks, just order when i feel like it and enjoy.
Can't argue with you on that! Thanks for posting your drink schedule. Glad I am not the only one looking for early morning drinks.

Hi!
This question is only in regards to the wine packages.
Not understanding the wine packages at all. We usually cruise on RC and at dinner the first night we look at the wine packages and what wines are offered and make a package selection. You get X number of bottles for a fixed price.
Celebrity's brutal website indicates I need to make my wine package selection at least 4 days before I cruise. Is that true or can I wait until on the ship? And it shows a price (and a sample selection) but does not indicate what I am getting: bottles, glasses, how many?
I hope this is not a repeat question as I really searched hard for this one, and there were a few posts in the 1500s in this thread alluding to the language on their website but no clear answers.
Silhouette in March (finally can skip Explorer of the Seas!)
thanks...

I make a natural pouch out of my back hair and tuck it in there. My wife just stores hers in her tiara.
