  1. On the Pride in May had the Nutella Tiramisu the first night in MDR - excellent. Last week on the Sunshine had the Nutella Tiramsu again first night in MDR - good but not as good as on the Pride. The last day on the Lido deck at the chocolate buffet, Chocolate Tiramisu Cake - excellent!

  2. We were also on this cruise and had an amazing time! We are from Toronto, Canada and this was our 4th cruise on Carnival, we were on the Pride in May. This was also our first visit to the east coast of the U.S. and Canada. We drove to New Jersey and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ridgefield Park where we had the cruise package which included transportation from NJ to the port.

We both enjoy eating a wide variety of food and I am a Weight Watcher member who has lost 50 lbs since January 2017. We were always able to find something to eat and I was always able to make healthy choices. We ate all dinners, 2 breakfast and both sea day brunches in the MDR, we had lunch in each port, my goal was to try a lobster roll in each port and Kennebunkport was the winner. We found the buffet on the Pride more extensive than the Sunshine.

In Boston and Portand we took bus tours which we enjoyed and in Saint John and Halifax we did walking tours. We went to a couple of the production shows and 4 comedy shows which we enjoyed. We met up with our table mates to play Euchre a few times which we learned was a northern midwest states and Ontario card game. We spent a lot of time just relaxing the serenity area and also I walked the track on sea days. We enjoyed musical entertainment around the ship - the Latin duo, the string duo, the guitar player and the duo that sang in the lobby.

All in all it was a fabulous cruise, we weren't crazy about the set up of the ship and the way it flowed, we find the Pride much easier to navigate. This minor annoyance did not affect our enjoyment of the cruise at all.

  3. We will be in Boston on a Monday in September, cruising on the Carnival Sunshine. This is our first time in Boston and we would like to go to Mike's Pastry in the North End, Paul Revere House, Faneuil Hall Marketplace and walk some of the Freedom Trail. How would you suggest we do this, public transit or cab, also we are both walkers if it's a nice day. We plan to visit Boston again to explore more of the historical sites. Also where would you suggest we have a lobster roll?

  4. Thanks for all of your thoughts, we really loved everything about the Pride but because of the itinerary of Grandeur of the Seas we are considering Royal Caribbean. Since I don't like flying and my DH doesn't mind the drive from Toronto, we are also looking at Celebrity Summit and NCL Gem from NYC. My DH is recently retired but I will not have my vacation approved until the end of January. Besides itineraries we are also looking for the best deal since the Canadian dollar is not very good at present. Thanks again, I really value all the opinions shared.

  5. On our recent 7 day cruise in November we didn't see one selfie stick, I am really not bothered by them unless they interfere with my ability to move about an area where people are using them. Just be mindful of where you are and the people around you. On a trip to NYC in the spring there were many tourists using selfie sticks on 5th Ave. in front of stores like Tiffany, etc., this was definitely a place where they shouldn't be used as they caused a lot of problems on very busy sidewalks.

  6. We were on the Pride November 15th which was the first week of American Table. We are a couple in our mid 50's and although this was only our second cruise we have eaten at many fine dining establishments over the years in NYC and Toronto. We ate in the MDR 4 times with the flexible dining time, we found the food, ambience and service to be generally very good, twice we ate at the same table for 10 and had great waiters and service, once we sat in one of the 2 person tables that is close to another 2 person, personally I didn't care for this, it almost felt like I should engage with these people as if they were table mates. On our last night we requested a 2 person table but not the ones that were right beside other 2 person tables, our request was easily granted. I did not miss the table cloths, I liked having the water right there to be refilled myself and had no issue with the bread baskets. The food was good, I made some great choices but also some poor choices but this I find is just a matter of taste. We will definitely cruise on the Pride again hopefully within the next few months......American Table did not scare us away!

  7. We were just off the Pride on Sunday, this was only our second cruise with Carnival our last being 8 years ago so the only food I remember from that cruise was the melting chocolate cake which I had twice this cruise. We ate dinner 4 times in the MDR, once at the Lido, once at David's and also did The Chef's Table. We found there were enough selections in the MDR, didn't miss the table cloths, liked the water on the table and enjoyed what we ordered. David's and The Chef's Table were outstanding! One of the very best things about all of our meals was I did not have to prepare them, serve them or clean up after them.

  8. We are thinking of booking the Breakaway to Bahamas in mid November. This is the only time we are able to get vacations together but are worried about the weather. For any of you who have gone on this cruise last November how was the weather at the ports.

    Thanks
