  1. How does the authorized user account work? I always thought if I add authorized users to my card they will have the same card number and hence the same account. Am I missing something?

When you add an authorized user they get their own login and their own card / card # separate of your own. So if they have offers you can double up some times. I have it on both of mine, so I'll gladly take 20% off my Alaska pay down lol.

  2. You will board Deck 3 in the Atrium. Go up to Towards / Through the casino to Ocean Plaza, Go outside on the left side, then make a right and you can't miss it. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE it is OPEN on Embarkation. Same thing for Pasta Bar is also open on day 1. We had lunch there and almost no one was there.

  3. Here are the Dive In Big Screen movies for August.

    Rampage

    Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

    Avengers: Infinity War

    Black Panther

    Pacific Rim Uprising

    Ready Player One

    Pitch Perfect 3

    Book Club

    A Wrinkle in Time

    The Greatest Showman

    Peter Rabbit

    Coco

Deadpool 2 – late night movie

Thrill Theater is 5.50 Single (adult and kids) and $12.95 for the entire trip. Kids prices are only for the whole week and looks like 9.95.

My wife and I did thrill theater and there were some things you should know.... at least what we observed.

Day 1 seemed to be the ONLY day that had anything special outside of the Levels 1-2-3 (which 1-2-3 are the intensity levels 1 is kids simple stuff, 2 is like roller coasters and 3 is 17+ scary movie type (lots of blood splash etc))

The biggest issue was that not all the seats had all the effects. Some seats wouldn't get water spray, some wouldn't have the leg whip etc. Also check the times AT the theater, times in the fun times were off some of the days and we missed. Barely got to see the level 2 I wanted to see since it had a pacific rim video in it.

Over all I probably won't do it again (going back in sept) This is actually a ship tour I shot (gonna make a 4K much more stable one when we go back) my link starts right at the thrill theater prices and times.

  4. GPS was hilarious as when I was walking around the track it seemed to be tracking up really fast. I did a mile I think in 3 min lol. But step tracking is fine and any apps that it syncs with will generally sync up once you get back on line as everything is stored in the Health app anyways.

  5. Yes everything is added as soon as the card is swiped. So if you used the app you would see them immediately MOST of the time. I say most because sometimes if there are issues or you make a friend with the bartender they may run them later then when checking (think 5 min window restriction). But every time I have looked everything was updated immediately. HOWEVER it won’t tell you what was ordered and will not tell you the original before cheers price. Just 0.00 or if you tip on top like .50-2.00 etc. so if you really want to be vigilant (we have never had any issues really) then you have to keep every receipt.

  6. My experience on my last 2x Valor cruises was that we had 10:30 Checkin was the earliest and still had to wait to be boarded. Had to wait on Diamond/Plat/FTTF and then Group 1 could go. Boarding didn't start until 11:30, so did make it on by 11:45 or so but still didn't even start boarding til 11:30 so I think you're in the sweet spot. Our next trip in May the earliest I could get was 12:00, and everything I am reading it looks like it will be a walk right on, so sounds good to me!

  7. Wow...very ingenius. At the same time....I personally do not value TV anywhere near that and I am a sports fanatic!! When we are on vacation....only time in cabin is to get dressed and sleep....For those few times I'm sitting on couch waiting on my wife..there is enough options with the Carnival stations, view from bridge, map of where were going, and those other channels to keep me occupied for 20-30 min.....Either that or I will kill time in the Casino lol

Yeah, its not that we "HAVE" to have TV or even our own content or anything. We usually just bring the tablet anyways that's loaded with shows and stuff. Just wanted to take it to the next level. It's a godsend if you get seasick or feel bad enough that you have to stay in the cabin. It works for us, obviously it's not for everyone and I am sure some people are going to be shocked at my idea or even appalled lol. But Hey! It's my cruise I can do what I want (within reason).

  8. So I am gonna be the other guy, the (Outside the box guy)..... I have my reasons... FIGHT ME if you want (jokes here). However, My Wife and I usually spend a night or two in the room ordering room service and watching stuff off my tablet. This upcoming cruise... I am bringing a projector.... YEAH you heard me....

So here's the deal, NORMALLY projectors do have a high draw on electrical, they are also usually bulky and problematic. I would NEVER use a device that has a high power draw on a cruise ship let alone one that would be running for more than a few min. BUT welcome in new tech and LED Projectors that are PICO Size! This is a small factor projector that can be as small as a DVD case or in my case a Stephen King book. Depending on what you get, you could even get a battery powered one or powered off USB which means super lower power use and draw.

For about $90 on amazon you can get a projector that has HDMI inputs or even USB (if you "rip" your own content :/ ) they have VERY LOW power draw (even the ones you plug in - the one I got pulls about 2 amps which is just over charging an ipad or similar) and being small they are easy to travel with. Quality.... EH not going to be as great as a full 4K high power projector.. but for a cabin its gonna be more than enough. Bringing a Tripod to put it on and strong magnets and hang a sheet.

BOOM - My own content on a much bigger screen....

Yeah, it "SEEMS" like a lot of work.. honestly it's not. I will be using one plug for the projector and a tripod. The USB Drive will be preloaded with my shows / movies, the speaker in the projector works pretty well and I can also output to a small battery powered BT speaker that I have with (Aux in) I already bring the magnet hooks so just ask for another sheet.

Again I know why would I even do this, it's a cruise enjoy the trip etc... but we like to enjoy the room some nights and have room service! Sometimes we take naps with the TV On... with the new "channel lineup" and the quality of the tv broadcasts this is going to be way better and always be packed with us.

  9. It seems like there is a quite a few people that have/are writing reviews for this exact same week (which is great!) I am planning to keep this as simple as possible while also kind of outlining my experiences against what I was looking at when I was waiting for the cruise to come up. Overall it was a wonderful cruise, surely a "once in a lifetime" as we got to see a lot of what the guides said were VERY rare. (Bubble Feeding whales - Same Group multiple times for about 40 min and then another group on the way back / Close encounter with a whale / Close (50 ft or so away) from an Eagle / Saw a bear on the Endicott excursion.

So, first thing's first. I went on the 7/19/16 Cruise to Alaska out of Seattle with my future in-laws. We had 3 cabins all next to each other. 6142, 6144 and 6146. As others have stated Tracy Arm is most likely going to be closed all season. According to our tour guide these glaciers recede about 6 feet a year, The Tracy Arm one (Sorry Don't know it's name) was said to recede 5000 FT! Causing all kinds of icebergs and making it impassible for cruise ships. Being in Endicott is rare for Cruise ships as they do have to have special permission. Also was told this glacier is about a 1/2 mile wide which is bigger than the Tracy Arm Side.

NOTICE: The views, options are simply what I experienced and others of course may have similar or completely different experiences. So this is WHAT I SAW!!!! While there were some things that were bothersome, NOTHING stopped me from having a great time!

    Balconies:

We did get the balconies opened up which is done by going to guest services with someone from each room. (eg. since I was in 6142, I had to have someone from 6144). Even though we signed the sheet for this, it did not happen until the 2nd Day! They do open to the rail side so you do lose some visibility, but overall this was well worth it.

Wanna see how they hold them open?

    27985598803_89b247ccf8_c.jpg

The tool they use to lock it is a simple square, sorry no dimensions on that:

I was limited to 6 pics so here is a link: Here

One last thing.... MOST (not all) of these Doors SLAM with the force of 1000 winds.... Almost everyday and throughout the nights it was almost a constant "slam" "slam" with windows and walls vibrating because of it. It doesn't have to be your neighbor either.

    6142: Slams

    6144: Slams

6146: Door Shock works properly and doesn't slam.

    TV:

So this was one of the biggest things I could not find any info about at all. So hopefully this will help some of you. NOT ALL ROOMS have flat panel TVs.

The TVs were Samsung Model: HG22NA470BF and the HDMI ports were not being used. As other's have stated they may be "disabled" but a universal may open that up. So having that model "MAY" help you as I cannot speak for all rooms just my room.

    6142: Flat

    6144: Flat

    6146: Old CRT TV

    Lido (In Reference to Crowds):

In my experience it seemed like Lido had various times where it would be more crowded than other (that's like saying the sky is blue...stay with me here). It seemed like most times were packed in the middle of their set times. So if Breakfast was 6-12 then around 9:30 is when Lido was packed. I was up most days around 7:30 and there was no issues getting food, very little in terms of lines and plenty of open seats... 9:30 BAM - Good Luck finding something. My suggestion is you can do MDR OR an overlooked option was in the back Serenity has tables that were almost always open. It's covered but it is outside so YMMV!

Pro-Tip: (At Breakfast Only) EVERY BUFFET HAS THE SAME THING! So if there is a huge line at one you can go to another and get the same stuff. Except the back where the salad / pizza / coffee is, those typically stay the same.

There was a HUGE exception to this rule and it was Day 3 in the Endicott Arm.....People were... not exactly rude but not willing to move. People even went as far to pull chairs up to the windows where people walk and would eat off their laps (PICS INCLUDED!).

For those wondering - Cereal comes in dispensers and Milk is in self serve (Jugs I guess, like tea or coffee dispensers with a spout) comes in Skim, 2% and Chocolate.

That's all I got for now, Not sure I can edit to add more later or will post, feel free to ask questions....and YES I have the Fun Times and will post pics probably tomorrow as I still need to unpack them and take pics.

  10. I'm probably gonna write something up this week as I took a lot of pics I know people will want (Odds and ends, back of the tv, model etc). I also was on the same cruise... in fact just down the hall, and passed your room many times (6142). I saw the key card is on the wall? Curious how that all worked?

Also, was it just me or was it balcony slamming kids running down the hall all the time for you too? 6142 put me right by the elevators but the hall was a dead end.

  11. Sorry for the snarky-ness it just came out that way as I have seen that question in particular, been asked multiple times, but still wanted to put the answer out there. I apologize just been a long day.

The Tracy Arm info was for one of the previous posters and no one had answered him, but I couldn't do a multiple quote.

Again, sorry about that just a trying day.

  12. Hi All, We will be on Carnival Legend on July 12th. We were wondering what nights elegant nights were on. I know there are 2, but can't find out exactly when. Carnival was no help when we called them. They would only give us an estimate of the 2nd or 3rd night after we leave Seattle and the 2nd or 3rd night from the end. That makes no sense.

If you research on the forums or reviews you would see it is the 2nd day and 2nd to last day for elegant night.

Also, for Tracy Arm There is NO EXCURSION LISTED on the day of Tracy Arm. It is in the Juneau tours, even though it has nothing to do with that. Then it will say that Reservations are very limited and that you have to E-MAIL THEM not Reserve though the site. I reserved back in Jan and they said they were pretty much full and we barely got on the last boat. Although I would defiantly still check as they sometimes will do another one if there is enough demand. However, it is kind of their fault since they don't list it in the right place... Also, its the only tour you don't pay for up front, it is added to your room when you board.

  13. OP are you my wife lol? But in all seriousness I am the same way... and it sucks. I totally get that I will most likely NOT drink as much to hit the limit, and the issue is that if I don't have Cheers, I will pass on ordering drinks because I hate spending the cash. On top of that, it then becomes well if I don't order this I won't have to pay for it at the end. Compound this against the peer pressure of "why aren't you ordering one" from the (wife, she does drink more than myself) so it just makes sense.

So to me, first and foremost it's all paid for whether I use it all or not is great as it's one less thing to worry about. I will as a few others said, will try new drinks I would never pay for usually, and with all the new specialty drinks as well as soda included I feel I will get my moneys worth even if I don't hit 5-7 alcoholic drinks a day. Plus I think my DW would have more drinks and the cost would be a wash if we didn't get Cheers in the first place.

Honestly it's a matter of preference is what it comes down to, and it's more than just getting your moneys worth. Since less stress, and letting loose / having a better experince is worth it to me.

  14. We are going on the 19th of July You are going to be coming right after us!

I know it has been answered but they renamed the steakhouse after the Australia Dry Dock, or it may just be named that for the Australia sailings. Either way look at the email you will see Legend in it....

I have reserved for 2 separate times in 7 days.... took them 3 weeks to confirm.

  15. They typically run between $50-500 from what I saw..... they have some HUGE crazy "retail" cost like $2-8000. Not to be a dark cloud on your bright day but I would look into the "quality" of the watches, and warranty. It's not the greatest, even people who take immaculate care of their watches have had issues with them. Which really sucks cause I have wanted one every time I go, I just cant bring myself to do it...

  16. Also, I had heard they are really really liquid-y / "Watery" etc. That may have just been during a rush though. So I would maybe try on a slow time vs a busier time to check results.

As far as selection goes, I have only seen the Standard 3 Choc / Vanilla and Strawberry. This is the first time I saw more than that on the posted coffee bar menu.

This is the one I am used to seeing (So Maybe it got updated).
