  1. Thank you. I’ve been pricing limo service but so far it comes in more for us than driving and parking at the port. But it would certainly be much easier and convenient so might be worth the extra $$$.

You know, come to think of it, it may have been slightly more expensive to use the limo service but it’s well worth it for a relaxing drive to and from the port. It think it’s definitely worth it!

  2. Tkerniroc1986,

    Thanks for sharing!

My family is considering a similar sailiing on the Magic (not Marvel day at sea though) this November. I'm curious, if you wouldn't mind sharing, how did you get to the cruise port? How difficult was it for you and your family to sail from this port? What advice would you have for other first time sailors from this port? We've cruised Disney several times, but never from NYC.

    Thanks!

Not a problem! Glad you enjoyed it! We actually used a Limousine company to take us to and from the port. Much cheaper than paying to park, and we got dropped off and picked up with ease! This was the first time we sailed out of NYC, we cruised in Disney out of Miami and Port Canaveral, but it was very simple. I would definitely cruise out of NYC again on Disney. Just make sure you arrive at your PAT and the Cast Members will point you in the right direction. I loved being able to see the bow of the ship when we pulled up. That was probably my favorite part. I hope this helped, and feel free to ask any further questions.

  3. Good morning all you DCL fans! It's been a bit since I've been on the CC threads, and I just wanted to share my videos of our cruise aboard the beautiful Disney Magic out of NYC in October. This was the first Marvel Day at Sea cruise, and this is the first video of our trip into the city and embarkation. There are other videos on my channel from this cruise, but I figured I'd share the first one for those that are interested to see how boarding in New York is! Enjoy, and happy cruising!

  4. Makes me wonder if people who go on DCL go on the luxury lines when they aren't sailing with kids (or maybe they take kids) I've been on three other lines and I see differences I wasn't expecting on DCL. Service is top notch and I've had good service on others (not NCL) but Buffett food was top of the line compared to every other just for starters.

The wife and I cruise RCCL when we aren't cruising with DCL and the kids. Our first cruise was in 2004 (together) on Explorer OTS and my first cruise in general was 2001 on the newly built Voyager OTS.

We will NOT EVER cruise on Carnival, and we tried NCL and it was horrible! So it's RCCL for us! We are now Platinum Crown and Anchor members and enjoy the perks we get when we aren't cruising with the kids. So yeah we prefer DCL for sure with the kids, it's fantastic, who doesn't love the pixie dust, but if we are kidless, it's RCCL!

  5. Agreed, Morgan is fantastic! I love watching his videos and he does live chats here and there as well! He is very down to earth and one of my favorite YouTube channels "Innnn Thhheee Woooorrrlddd!" (If you watch his videos you will get that hahahaha)

The video by ajruck isn't done by the DCL for sure, that guys channel has nearly 45K subscriptions. A decent amount, and this was his first Disney cruise and he did it with one of his friends. His videos are very professional and well done. He has a lot of Disney Parks related content on his channel as well. Just stating my opinion. They are certainly good videos of the Wonder though!

  6. This is a good one I found. It's the guys first cruise ever and they show a lot of the newly reimagined Disney Wonder! He also has some other videos on his channel showing adult spaces, kids spaces, food, etc...pretty good videos!

  7. IMHO' date=' a 3 night cruise is way too short. I have done two, one as part of a 4/3 B2B. The only way I'd do a 3 night again would be if there were no way I could afford or manage in the schedule a longer cruise. Otherwise, it is neither cost nor time effective and is way too short to enjoy properly. By cost effectiveness, I mean that the transportation costs to MCO and to the cruise terminal are the same whether the cruise is 3 nights or 7 nights.

Weather--varies. May was hot; April more pleasant. But April often involves spring break which can increase costs of cruises and means more teens/tweens on board.

I'm one of those people who prefers the Magic/Wonder to the newer ships. I find them to be much more intimate and friendly. Your kids will have plenty to do regardless of which ship you choose. I haven't been on the Wonder since the recent dry dock, but most of what they did mirrors the changes on the Magic. There are some cruise reports here from recent Wonder cruisers. The Magic added "Marvel Academy" to the kid area...and dads like it too!

If the only question asked was "Which ship do you like least?" the response would have been "The Dream." It suffers from three things I don't like--short cruises, crowds, and a "pay extra" ice cream and dessert area right outside Cabanas (the buffet area). I had always liked the fact that DCL didn't tempt kids with "pay extra" food outlets the way some other lines do, but then they decided to add this profit center. Right now, I'd love to work a Wonder cruise into my schedule because I want to see the changes.[/quote']

Well said, I too would probably chose the Wonder at this point based on seeing all the new changes! Any way you go, you won't be disappointed in DCL... (hopefully) lol There's a lot to take in and a 3-4 night is quite short.

  8. I'll tell you, the Dream will not feel crowded at all! The Wonder was the first DCL ship we were on and again, never felt crowded! We have been on the Fantasy (sister ship to the Dream) and we loooooved it! There is a lot to do, that also being said, don't expect to do everything there is to do on a 3-4 night cruise. We couldn't even do everything on a 7 night cruise! DCL does it right, you will see, the customer service, cleanliness and overall experience are phenomenal!!! Plus the Dream has the Aqua Duck and that slide is awesome! We will gladly answer any and all questions you have regarding DCL! I hope this helps!

  9. There are a few countdown clocks available in the app stores. Plus you can put whatever picture you want as the background. The one I use is called "countdown" and you can make us use whatever type of countdown total you want. Be it years, or months, days, etc...here's a screen shot of mine!17c539941535a8d29a8919c3da22344e.jpg

  10. I'm really going to miss this thread...lol such a fun time following the Wonder on this transformation! I've had a blast tracking down photos, and enjoyed watching all the construction take place. I love watching the construction of how they build these ships, but nothing is more awesome than seeing an already amazing ship become even better. I've been on the "old" Wonder once, and fingers crossed that we will board her once again one day and see all these new features first hand. Biiiiiiig thank you to ex techie for his stellar sleuthing work, and it's been an absolute pleasure talking with all of you!
