Celebrity Cruises introduces new "Always Included" pricing for new bookings made after Nov. 17, 2020, as reported in Cruise Critic's Cruise News today.  Being Elite Plus cruisers we feel we've been thrown overboard as it seems our loyalty has no perks any more.  So long Celebrity, it's been nice.

I’m sure I’ll get some hate for this...but I’m in my early thirties and super loyal to Celebrity (we enjoy being the young ones on the boat;)...)

I think this is a great move for Celebrity. It is basically what they’ve already been doing with a bit more transparency. Their prices will likely go up (compared to the sale and “go better/best”), but at the end of the day we all know the service is unparalleled compared to RCL, Norwegian, Costa, etc. And, they’re doing something different than Princess and Holland America...

We’ll still be on their cruises and I hope we’ll still be the young ones on board:)

This is a good step forward but to me not really "all-inclusive" unless all specialty dining was included at no fee.

Wait...then, why have specialty restaurants at all? I disagree here - there have to be a few upcharges here and there

  3. Amy, Loterie Farm is beautiful and the “flyzone extreme zipline” is a really cool experience (a bit pricey - at ~$75 pp) but well worth it. The extreme is not very difficult, but there are age/height restrictions. There is a low ropes course that is a bit cheaper and open for “kids”, but it is more difficult than you would guess and includes a few ziplines (still anywhere from ~30-75 ft off the ground). If you have very active kids & they aren’t too young, it’s a memorable place for sure! But, don’t plan to hang out there much beyond doing the zipline - the pool cost extra $$ and the restaurant is a little pricier than beach restaurants. Plan for half a day there:)

  4. Hey Cc’ers! Any good recommendations for island tours that include drinks periodically or throughout the tour? I would like to find a small-group tour that is a bit less “touristy” than the typical pack-you-in buses, etc.

    thanks!:)

  5. The forums do not load properly on Chrome (& most browsers) - the formatting is WAY off. Are you all not supporting the iPhone app any longer? If not, can you please tell your users why this decision was made? I think you may lose a LOT of forum users if the app doesn't start working again. Love this site & I completely understand that updates involve issues, headaches, and growing pains, but wow...right now it looks like your IT folks weren't prepared at all for this transition.

  6. Hey Cc’ers! My brother and I (late 20’s & early 30’s) are looking for suggestions for a day in Key West?

Maybe something involving at least a little but of...boozing, but also taking in anything local, maybe something semi- off the beaten path, anything at all different from the same ole touristy stuff! Thanks!!!

  7. We just got back and were not impressed. Next time we'll try the donkey sanctuary. All the beaches require taxis ($32 for two of us there and back, then chair rental, and umbrella rental). Worst was the pervasive smell of cheap weed and the amount of trash everywhere. You'd think a place that relies so much on tourism would enforce their drug laws and keep the streets clean.

...ok, come on! Pretty much all caribbean islands smell of “cheap weed”. Additionally weed is barely a “drug”, it would be silly to prosecute a bunch of already poor people for it.

I thought Antigua was beautiful. Next time rent a car! We paid $75 & got to explore the island on our own. Darkwood beach was one of the prettiest and non-touristy beaches I’ve seen in the caribbean. :)

  9. Great thread... we are doing our second cruise next spring and our ports are San Juan, Gran Turk, St Thomas and Amber Cove (Carnival Breeze out of Port Canaveral). We did the whole cruise-line excursion thing in Mexico on our first cruise but it gets so pricey - nice to know that San Juan you can kind of just wing it and walk. Any particular bar/restaurants that anyone can recommend in the area of Old San Juan? Looking for good drinks and food and a party atmosphere.

Definitey check out Barrachinas for a Pina Colada! They have great food as well (fyi - the appetizer sampler for two really can feed 3 or 4 and is a bunch of different types of great local food!). It’s not a “party atmosphere” by any means. If you want a party atmosphere, you probably unfortunately will have to check out the tourist-trap plces (like Senor Frogs...)

  10. Doing this in November, but in reverse. What time did your ship sail? I think ours leaves at 8pm, and I'm kind of wondering if we need to be on board so early. Basically I've booked a slightly expensive hotel in San Juan (just don't tell the husband!) and want to get the most of out that, and not leave too soon!

Nope! We got on early because we wanted some empty boat time, but I’m fairly certain that they didn’t require you on ship until 6 or 7pm!:)

  11. This may sound silly, but I am trying to estimate how much cash I am going to need for each port for my family of 6. I understand that taxi’s charge by the person. If you have taken a taxi from the port to Magen’s Bay Beach can you share the rate per person?

Also, does the bar at the beach take credit cards or is it cash only?

    Thank you!

Just got back & they charge $10 each way per person! (Which is REALLY high based on the fact that they pile you into an open air truck with ~15+ people) So, plan for $20 pp and then an additional $5 pp entrance fee into Megan’s Bay

Also, if you rent chairs and umbrellas, it’s a bit pricey and lunch/drinks there is a teeny bit pricier than other places

  12. I will be visiting St. Kitt on the Harmony of the Seas in July with the family. Please tell me about your favorite excursion in St. Kitt? Where it was through the cruise line or on your own? Feel free to provide any information on the excursion like the tour company's name or tour guide, thank you.

Pleaseeeee check out MyIslands Tour with Herod! We just did this a few weeks ago and it is a GREAT value and he bring one of his pet monkeys along with him for the day!

If you have any questions after looking into it, let me know!:)

  13. I am in desperate need of advice! Never been to St. Maarten (8a-5p), St. Thomas (12p-8p), or San Juan (8a-5p) and would like to get help in planning excursions post-hurricane. Here is what I want to do: One port, chill at the beach (prefer adult beach with drinks and food). One port, do shopping (nothing fancy, just walk around and shop). The other port, maybe a little walking around and then hanging at a fun/wild restaurant. Note the times that we will be at each location. It doesn't have to be a ship-sponsored excursion. I have been scouring the internet for weeks and just can't decide which destination is best for our desired activities.

Orient on St Maarten is the best beach to check out, hand’s down!

  14. Our family isn't really into beaches, so can anyone suggest an activity to do while in port? It will be two 40-somethings and an 11 year old girl. Thanks in advance.

We went mid-April & rented a car right off the dock (total of $80! for the day) and drove to Shirley Heights (AWESOME views!) and then made our way around the coast back to the ship, stopping at beaches along the way.

But, you could always make a stop at the Donkey Sanctuary:) too!

We loved getting to drive around on our own time and not being tied to a tour!

  15. Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas:

Got off the boat a little late & spent the day at Megan’s Bay. The beach was beautiful & had no real signs of hurricane damage. I will say that St Thomas was the only stop that was a little bit frustrating. It cost $20/pp to get back and forth to Megan’s Bay, $5 entrance fee, and ~$15/pp for chair/umbrella. Additionally, Megan’s Bay only has one touristy food counter with overpriced mediocre food and overpriced drinks. It is VERY commercialized, but all in all still a great day.

Back on the boat - packed, checked out the final theater show (it was great!) & packed.

    Debarkation:

Our debarkation time was 9AM, but they ask you to be out of your room by 8AM (so, that was a little disappointing). Customs was also VERY slow!

We had a late flight, so we stored our bags at Barrachina restaurant in Old Town. I highly recommend this if you have a late flight! You just need to leave a good tip!

SORRRRRYYY! I wish I had better/more detailed pics for you guys, but once I’m on vacation I tend to forget!

  16. Basseterre, St Kitts:

We signed up for a tour with “MyIslands Tour by Javin” & cannot recommend him enough! He shows you the not-so-touristy side of the island - you see and old cotton ginnery, take a walk through the rainforest, snorkel over a ship wreck, get to check out the black rocks area w/ a picnic lunch & get about an hour on the beach! He brings one of his pet monkeys along. We had “Peaches” come along with us & she was adorable & followed along in everything we did!

Only word of warning is that the snorkel swim is pretty tough (even with a lifevest).

Back on the boat - we checked out the “Chandelier” show & it was great! Dinner in he MDR, then a little more gambling.

  17. St Johns, Antigua:

We rented a car...a little scary, but great! We rented through Hertz online & it was by far the cheapest, but don’t expect a seamless process. If you rent through Hertz, you need to ask the people at the information desk where to find the Hertz representative. Took us a bit, but found her & we drove to Shirley Heights - $14 entry for two & it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! Well worth the trip/rental. Driving through St Johns was a but hairy & driving on the left was odd, but it was a great way to take in the island!

From Shirley Heights, we drove to Darkwood Beach and hunkered down and Darkwood Beach Bar ($30 for 2 chairs, umbrella, & bucket of 6 beers). The beach was BEAUTIFUL and the bar/restaurant was great! The food was decent and right on the beach (& significantly cheaper than most of the options at other nearby beaches).

Back to the boat - another great dinner in the MDR! We attended the “Life” show beforehand and it was really good!
