  1. Just stayed in a Sky Suite this past October and got a nice, sturdy, dark blue canvas tote bag that folds up and goes inside a carrying case. Our friends were in a regular balcony cabin and also got tote bags but they were a much thinner material, light aqua blue and I don't know if it came with a carrying case.

  2. I have a question regarding my situation. We are traveling with friends and were all booked in our respective balcony cabins, had already linked our reservations and were assigned traditional late dining (I'm assuming together since I spoke with several X reps to make sure).

Since then, my DH and I received an upsell to a SS and when I asked, I was assured our reservations were still linked to our friends and we could still eat together. Now I'm wondering if we will be expected to dine in Luminae from the get-go or if we will still have seats in the MDR (since this was the original plan) and can on occasion, eat in Luminae by ourselves if we want. Sorry if that is confusing. Thanks for all your advice!

  3. I'm going on my 2nd cruise with Celebrity and had booked a verandah balcony. Got a call last week offering me an upgrade to either Concierge, Aqua or Sky (price dependent on what I chose but very good offers). I asked the lady on the phone about the reasons for upgrades and she said there isn't really any logic to them. Mostly, the ones that book directly with Celebrity and not through a travel agency get offered first (that's what she said) and then those that are signed up for the Captain's circle. I don't know how true that is but either way, we took the opportunity to book a Sky suite and I'm looking very forward to having the perks! :D

  4. I logged in the other day to double check my planner and to make sure everything was filled out properly. To my surprise, my reservation showed that I still owed $1000 after having paid my full amount 3 months ago.

I immediately called them to gets things straightened out and was relieved to find it was just a website error but seriously....in the year of 2015, you can't have a smooth running website??

  5. I just recently got off the Crown and started my cruise with a brand-new, unsigned punch card. Despite the numerous times I went to the IC, not a single person behind the counter bothered to fill in the blank back and half the time, when I just ordered fresh brew coffee I just had to flash the card. They never blinked twice about it.

  6. We leave this Saturday for our Alaska cruise on the Crown and I just looked and it appears the excursion is called "Animal Planet Exclusive: Bear Country & Wildlife Expedition", KTN-885.

    Tour Overview:

Your small-group excursion begins as you board your motorcoach for a short drive to a private reserve.

Upon arriving, your guide/naturalist leads you along a trail through the heart of the rainforest, among tall stands of hemlock, spruce and Alaska cedar. This pristine environment is home to black bears, eagles, seals, a variety of birds, and many other species of wildlife attracted by the over 100,000 salmon that return each year to spawn.

Large concentrations of black bear gather to feed on the huge runs of spawning Pacific salmon in the stream running through the reserve. Bald eagles wait for scraps, mink and marten frequent the area, and seals can usually be seen feeding on the bountiful fish harvest.

Your search for wildlife takes over an elaborate elevated boardwalk system, including a suspension bridge and tree platforms overlooking the creek, and off-the-beaten-track areas, promising an exclusive opportunity to view bears at close range in a safe environment. Although wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, keep your camera ready for a myriad of photo opportunities.

At the trail's end, you'll see birds of prey close up, tour a historic sawmill and visit with a master Native carver crafting a totem pole before returning to the ship.

  7. I made a post about this in another topic regarding coffee and my post got deleted. At the time, I thought it was because I had mentioned buying the cards from a vendor other than Princess but after seeing and reading this thread, I'm assuming it was because I named the auction site by name.

  8. I have to agree with other posts I've read here. Take your own if you can. The one in our room at least, did blow warm air but on high it was about what my hairdryer is on low.

The hairdryer is no where near as good as the one I have at home but it does the trick. I just plan on extra time to dry my hair. It is comparable to other low watt hair dryers I have used in hotels. For me it isn't bad enough to entice me to pack my own. But that's just me.:)

Thank you both for your reply. I just want the hair dryer to get most of it dry since I usually just throw it up into a ponytail or bun anyway. A low wattage sounds like it'll work for me. I hate the idea of packing any more than I need to.

  9. We didn't use the phone app for this cruise. Guess, yes, we will need to do that in the future. :o X offers it on their tv systems which is super handy and that we use daily for those account check ups.

This is one reason I'm happy about the ability to check my folio on my phone. No need to run the printout and try to read that mess.

Which app is this? The Princess@Sea one? Thanks.

  10. I took it as a shorthand way to say, "Despite what you're saying, I know what you were trying to do, so don't bother trying to justify it."

It was just a silly, inane phrase. Don't overthink it. Or think about it at all, really.

Now back to your regularly scheduled righteous indignation... :D

Haha, I thought it meant that the younger guy was like...a platinum card or elite holder and the older guy was a blue card and it was his subtle way of saying he had cruised longer or something.

  11. Should be a way to change which credit card is used. Just enter all zeros for the new number.

Nope. Like Colo Cruiser said, once it's in, it's in. Oh well, no big deal. I think I put in the wrong expiration date anyway. At least I was able to print out the luggage tags.

  12. Never.

But you can enter a credit card number, print your boarding passes and luggage tags, and then remove the credit card number.

Ahhhh, very tricky! :D Thanks for this bit of info!

Edit: Hmmm....maybe they've removed this feature. I don't see anywhere to re-edit the credit card information now that I've entered it. :(

  13. On the Caribbean Princess recently, the 2 for 1 was not available to AIBP holders. You had to order one drink, and then turn around and order another. In the Palm dining room, the waiter asked if I would like him to order two wines at the same time so that when I was through with the first, he could just bring me the second. I agreed, but then the manager the Palm dining room made the waiter put the second wine glass on my ship bill. I tried to have it removed because I was on the AIBP, and at first the service desk removed it, but it got added back onto my bill the next day. I don't like how the manager of the Palm dining room treated the wait staff or me since he did not tell me that I would be charged for the second wine.

Thank you for this info. I haven't had an AIBP before and like you, would not have thought anything from the waiter offering to get me 2 drinks. I would be really annoyed to be charged for the second drink, especially when it was offered in good faith.

  14. Awesome, thank you for the reply. And I noticed that they had the Pub lunch on the sea day and one other day when you were in port. No Pub lunch on the last day in Victoria? Also, if you have the UKP, can you use that to get the speciality coffees in IC or do you HAVE to have a coffee card for that (if you didn't want to pay individually, I mean).

Thank you for answering my questions!
