  1. I agree with the poster who suggested arriving early. We usually arrive between 10-10:30 and beat the crowds. On my last cruise, as well as my upcoming one, I needed a wheelchair...what a hoot! The steward who pushed me aboard raced with another fellow....we won, I was the first person to board the ship! Really though, get there early....eat lunch (before the burgers are dry hockey pucks)....sit by the pool....wander around the ship...make ressies for the supper club or spa, it makes for a much less stressful departure.

  2. I'm not sure who was asking....sorry....but 1062 is really more midship than forward. We experienced little or no motion up there and it truly was a VERY QUIET location. If I remember correctly the "white spaces" were senior officers cabins vs storage areas. Also, for those of you who asked, we had friends staying in 1051 and 1052 (all Cruise Critic friends btw) and they loved their cabins equally as much as we loved ours.

I know that the general rule of thumb is that the higher cabins experience more motion but, for whatever reason, that just wasn't the case on The Conquest (and we sailed last February...during the "winter" months). The weather was perfect BTW, in the low to mid 80's in each port. Sea days were a bit cool and breezy but we were still able to sit outside.

Another benefit of the Panorama Deck is the access to the Lido Deck area. For whatever reason people just don't venture up a few steps and we never had a problem getting a seating area for our group....on a small deck just to the right of the slide...it was great!

I'm sorry I don't have any pics my camera was stolen, from my luggage, somewhere between Idaho and Texas so I didn't get many photos of the trip.

Our room steward was "Joselito" who is a charmer and a wonderful steward. We had fresh ice in our soft sided cooler at least three times a day, so our wine and soft drinks were always cold,. He called us by name from day one and kept our room immaculate. Needless to say we tipped him well.

The only person I found less than wonderful was the maitre de...he reminded me of Kaiser Wilhelm! He was rude and really couldn't care. We wound up sitting with CC friends at a later seating, on the upper level of the Renoir Dining Room, and were very happy . Our maitre de, for that level, was charming and our waiter fantastic. I took his advice EVERY night, and he never got it wrong. My dining mates pretty much had a steak, ceasar salad and warm chocolate melting cake every night.....booooooorrrrinnnnng....whilst I had a different dinner each night. The short ribs and rack of lamb were to die for.

    Any other questions, please ask.

  3. I've been assigned 4G-1052, looks like the Panorama deck, 1st room near the stairs. Good or bad ... what do you know about this room/area?! There's also two dots on the room, which says "two uppers" - is that the two beds that come out of the wall?!?! :D

Steve: We were in 1062, Panorama deck....balcony cabin, and LOVED it! People were constantly telling us how much more motion we would notice, I'm still waiting and the cruise was 10 months ago! Other than a suite it was the best cabin we've ever had. I'm considering changing our 8A guarantee to 8E, for our next cruise, if a comprable cabin is still available...eventhough I know it will be a much more costly situation.

It's also a very quiet level.

  4. Tendering will start soon after 7:00 a.m.The ship will start to give tender tickets to those not scheduled for a Carnival excursion at 7:00 a.m. in the main theatre on on a first come first served basis. We booked with Captain Marvin's and had a 9:15 meeting time for their 10:00 trip and got to the pier before 8:00 and shopped for an hour. You'll be fine .We were worried too.:) We found this all out from the purser on board. You'll love Captain Marvin's.Have fun !

I am so glad to see your post. We are also doing Captain Marvin's and have a 9:15 arrival time (for the half day snorkeling). My friend wanted some time to walk around a bit, I told her that we would have about an hour that morning, if we got up and going early. What about afterwards? the trip is from 10-1:30, did you get back at the assigned time or was there extra travel time? It would seem to me that we should also have about an hour in the afternoon (I think I read that the last tender left around 3 P.M.????). I can't do a lot of walking about, had spinal surgery not too long ago and am still a bit weak. I'm excited tho'!!! Thank you for your response.

I have tried to access your site, unfortunately it says that I must login? Am I doing something wrong? I'd love to view your pics...we leave on 2/25/2007. Thank you for any help you might offer.
