  1. Thanks all.  Neither my wife nor I have mastered the art of packing light.   I shudder at the thought of having to manage 2 large and a pair of 22" bags onto a short hop train.   And then stow them - where? Maybe I'm picturing problems that don't exist, but my back is not as young as it used to be. 😉

  2. Our cruise will end in Quebec City following an overnight stay there.   We are looking for a options re: getting to our (downtown) Montreal hotel.  Any recommendations are appreciated.

Can anyone suggest alternatives to the bus/train?  We may be able to get another 2 or 3 couples to join my wife and I.  Any private companies to recommend?

    Thanks,

    Terry

  3. We debak in less than 30 days. Still waitlisted, and even out TA could not find out how far down the list we are.

We do have an alternative booked, and I think this will be one of those things - well if this is the worst thing that happens to us, we're doing just fine.

Thanks everyone for all of your input. Wishing you all smooth seas :).

  4. ... Each evening your room steward or stewardess will leave a breakfast order door hanger on your bed. Just fill it out, select a delivery time and hang it on your door before you go to sleep. I believe you can also order anything from the breakfast menu in Compass Rose in addition to what is printed on the door hanger order form by writing it on the form.

    Hope this helps.

Re; Breakfast - All I want is coffee and juice and trust there is no problem handing the breakfast delivery person a few dollars/euros (tip). Our first time on RSS and just want to make certain I don't upset any carts.

  5. I would try to be patient a bit longer. Not sure when your cruise is but as you approach the penalty phase, there are usually some cancellations.

Well, it tough being patient. I'd rather be excited. Have called twice - never got a real answer re: how far down the wait list are we? and now I'm starting to think that we are "out of luck".

Do these things open up again once on board?

    Thanks,

    Terry

  6. As I’m about to be a first time Regent (Explorer) customer(in September), this thread is wonderful. Thanks to all of you.

My question: Is there any way to determine the cost of the (notincluded) excursions – well in advance?

    Thanks again,

    Terry

  7. Our 10-day cruise ends at Civitavecchia and we can easily acquire transfers to FCO. From either one of those locations we want to end up inMilan, but we are debating:

    flying

    or

renting a car and driving (with an an overnight in Rapallo)

    or

    taking a train.

A bit concerned about luggage transfer with the train (as wewill have much luggage and are now ‘senior citizens’). Alternately concerned about mountainousdriving (especially if we hit a rainy day). This will be early Oct next year. We been driven around the Amalfi area, how much of the FCO – Rapallotrip would be like that?

Any thoughts and suggestions are welcomed. :)

  8. Is Hanauma Bay ADA Compliant? We (3 couples) would like to visit but one in our party requires a walker. I only remember from my visit over 10 years ago that it was a fairly substantial walk on stairs or a steep ramp (and my memory isn't perfect!

Can anyone provide some insight? We thought we'd rent a 6 passenger van either pre or post cruise, drive around the island, and it would be a great place visit, but only if all of us could enjoy it.

    Thanks,

    Terry

  9. For a family of four, including 2 teens, all crammed into an inside cabin, we are wondering how difficult it would be for one to go down to the fitness center and use that shower.

Are there towels available, some degree of privacy, and some sort of changing area, where one could leave the (post shower) clean clothes (not to mention the pre-shower garb)? I don't imagine you can get robes in an inside stateroom, or is that possible?

    Thanks

  10. Thanks everyone, but you misunderstand (or I said it poorly.)

We are not taking the kids on the land portion with us. We would either do a southbound trip and meet them onboard ship in Anchorage after we conclude our 3-4 day Denali experience, OR start with them in Vancouver, and bid them farewell in Anchorage as they headed home and we went on to the land tour.

Question is - does it make a difference as to which order we do it?

  11. I’m sure this has been discussed before, but after searching for over a half hour, I’m posting the question…

Is it better to do the cruise tour before or after the cruise, or does it matter? DW and I will do a (3 or 4 day) cruise tour, plus a (7 day) cruise with the kids/grandkids. To what extend does it matter if we do the land portion before or after the cruise? (August of 2015 or 2016 if it matters)

    Thanks,

    Terry

  12. We arrive via the Grand Princess on July 12. Will be in port from 9 – 5. Have prepaid the Ice Bar and have a 1:14 time.

    Questions:

) What is the best way for our group of 6 adults (in our 60s) to get from the dock to the Ice Bar (and later back to the ship from the Vasa).

    2) We also want to visit the Vasa and Skansen.

    3) What is the best way to get around town?

    4) Can private taxis take groups of 6? - How costly are they, and will they take Euros or is it SEK only?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Terry
