I called and changed our Edge 10 nt Caribbean from 1/4/21 to the Silhouette, same date and exactly the same ports.  It was quite the experience... took over an hour, with at least 45 minutes of that on hold.  Rep came back once or twice saying her computer wouldn't work correctly... lol.  She did not seem to have any idea what she was doing.

Finally said we could keep our original 4 perks and also get the $200 addition veranda obc specified in the email.  Also kept the same price we originally paid, even though when I priced the same cabin online, it was $600 CHEAPER to just take the Always Included price.

On the off chance that she was correct, I figured it was best to just leave it on the same reservation number as original cruise and utilize the Premium drinks that we originally had, as well as the $300 obc that was included in the 4 perks we had.  Will keep an eye out and see if price drops between now and then.

Will be very interesting to see how it all prices out when we get the new invoice... which she said will come in 7-10 days.  We're fine either way but totally doubt that we'll keep the 4 perks AND get the additional $200 obc.

    Hi,

Was this just a Lift and Shift?

  2. We were just on the summit in a suite. When dining in luminae, we were also able to choose from the mdr or the blu menu. I had the app on my phone and I would be looking at all the menus when ordering dinner. We have sailed in suites many times, and this was the first time I remember being able to order from blu

    Hi.

Come look for us - we’ll be on 8/10 too.  We’re in the casino most evenings and you already know what we look like.

We really enjoy the casino.  The dealers and bartenders working there are a lot of fun.

We don’t usually sail in the summer either but when we booked  for August 10, the Junior Suite we like (the J1 with large balcony) was already sold out.  We’re giving the J4 (used to be called Spa Junior Suite) a try this time.   I did put in a Royal Up bid for both a Grand Suite and Owner’s Suite but with the ship sold out know the likelihood of that happening is going to be rare.

    Hi,

Really appreciate the time you took for this detailed review.  I'll be on the August 10 Bermuda cruise as well.  Maybe see you in the casino!

  4. Sailing in 12 days and received the MoveUp offer a few weeks ago.  I made a relatively low bid on a suite and waited..  i eventually called Captains Club and asked about the suites I had bis on.  I was told they had been and still are fully booked.  The MoveUp bids serve as a back up in case some passengers happen to cancel between now and when the ship sails. I had mistakenly thought there were actual vacancies when I place my MoveUp bid.

Even though Celebrity says that Edge is not included in the move up program, I just got a move up email today for the March 24th sailing. Minimum bids are very high IMO - $1000 per person to move from a sky suite to a celebrity suite. Do the minimum bids ever get lower as the sailing date gets closer?

In our only experience with the Move Up program the minimum price did get reduced.

  6. I just spoke with a Celebrity rep about possible benefits for my March 16, 2019 cruise.  I'm currently at the Gold level on MLife. I was told that there would be no benefits because my booking was a "group" booking.  My booking was made onboard a Celebrity cruise last year and I transferred the booking to my usual TA.  There was never any mention by Celebrity or my TA that I now had a "group" booking.  Evidently this eliminated any additional MLife benefits I might have been entitled to.

It is not really a matter of using an agent or Celebrity.    You can book aboard and get extra perks and/or OBC's.   Once you have the booking you can transfer the booking to an agent to obtain additional OBC's

Booking on board will generally have a lower down payment and will offer perks and/or OBC's dependent on the class of cabin.   You have 60 days from reservation to transfer to agent.   Also must be transferred prior to final payment.    If your current reservation is with an agent ask them to book directly with Celebrity or you will be locked in with current agency.

Attached is an example of what you can expect

I see in this flyer there is also additional savings per person of $100 to $400 depending on stateroom type.  Is this typical of most booking on board offers?

  8. Just had an interesting phone call with Captains Club.  I received a Move Up email earlier this week for a suite.  I asked the CC representative if there were suites available as I didn't see any on the Celebrity website.  The rep said all suites were already booked but if I made a bid it would be considered if someone cancelled their suite booking.  As our cruise is March 16 it seems rather pointless to bid, along with the fact the minimum asking bid is set very high.

  9. Oh wow, how nice to see this. I'll be in a Neptune Suite on the NA next week over Thanksgiving, and I'm really excited. I've experienced the Neptune Suites (or previously called Deluxe Veranda Suites) many times on the various ships, and I agree they are wonderful, and the lounge concierges are amazing. I will say, though, that I haven't really become addicted, and I can enjoy a cruise in any cabin category... in all depends how much I want to spend at that particular time.

I think HAL does a great job with the suites. I haven't been on many other lines, but compared with Celebrity and Princess, which do not offer a dedicated lounge with attendant concierge on duty, HAL wins hands down as far as the suite itself and the service provided. (IMHO)

Actually, Celebrity has Michael's Club for suite guests that includes a concierge and complimentary beverages. They also have a suite only dining room, Luminae. We've sailed on Celebrity and Holland and enjoy both of them.

  10. We've been in Neptune Suites on HAL and in all the Suite classes of Celebrity. We enjoy cruising on both lines. Some of the bigger differences between the two cruiselines occur when you are in the two top suites on Celebrity. Their Royal Suites and Penthouse Suites automatically include their Premium Beverage Package, Unlimited Internet, Unlimited Specialty Dining, two 1 litre bottles of liquer, and unlimited beer and soda from your in suite refrigerator.

All of the suites on Celebrity include dining in their Suite only dining room, Luminae, and use of their suite only lounge, Michaels Club, which includes a concierge and complimentary beverages.

  11. DW and I dined in Tuscan on our recent Summit cruise to Bermuda. The service was very good but we didn't find the food much better than Luminae. I tried the aged NY strip steak and it was a bit of a disappointment. We're accustomed to NY steakhouses so I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised. Overall we preferred Normandie to Tuscan.
