Seattle Express is a popular cruise transfer but it's $27RT so you might as well use Carnival.

Is there some magic to finding which hotels are considered Seatac area hotels or should I just call the hotel I'm looking at and ask?

Thanks for that info.  Was hoping to find a hotel that at a minimum had transport from and to the airport would be 1 less car ride will be 2 of us with a  minimum of 4 bags possible up to 6 depending on how many each of use take.

So next thing is hotel.  I've looked at several.  Do hotels even offer airport/hotel transportation or even hotel/port transportation anymore?

Carnival suggested using theirs $30 each way each person but that would require going back to the airport on sale day and having transportation from the airport to the selected hotel.

Obviously there is Uber/Lyft/Taxies but that's an added expensive so was wondering if hotels offer such a thing anymore so i can look at those and compare their rates vs ones that don't and using a car service.

We think a like on the flight.  I got to thinking it's vacation why do I want the added stress on the flights in and out.

I booked the flights through Carnival they were the space price as Alaska Air had on their site and I can use my carnival gift cards that I get at 10% off through Allstate.  Flying in the day before now and leaving the day after so there will be some time to at least see the space needle while there.

I know of the 2 excursions that I know I want to do don't care what the reviews say but I still like seeing others opinions even if I ignore them.  It's like Movie Critics there are often movies with poor reviews that i love and often movies with great review that I hate.  It's all public opinion.

The layers make sense specially something the keep the wind out.  Your body will keep you warm if you keep it from losing the heat and keeping the cold wind out.   I spend 11 months in Minnesota during the winter for work so I know what cold feels like and I was really only cold 1 day that whole time and that was the day the wind blew right through my jacket and me.

Appreciate everyone's feedback so far.

Believe it or not I was in MN for 11 months starting in Oct a couple of years ago.  I am well aware of what cold is as it snowed a couple of inches in Oct.  Born and raised in FL but I do like the cold.  I'm sure it won't be to bad for me but my +1 is cold here in Florida.  

While I've joined my roll call for this cruise (Apr 27th 2020) not much activity there yet.  I've actually have had this booked for about 4 years now and every year I change it because something comes up.

Well this time it's happening and well I have questions for you experts.  I've done dozens of Carnival cruises so it's not about cruising itself it's more specific about this cruise, Alaska, weather, air travel. 

Let's start with bags and air travel.  Looking at temps for April in Alaska well while I like the cold 30's to 50's is to cold for this Florida boy to wear shorts all the time.  That means instead of 1 maybe 2 suite cases I'm probably looking at 3 because at 6'1" 260lbs my warmer cloths (jeans, jackets, etc) start to get bulky and heavy. 

In looking at flights it looks like I can fly in same day, how ever flying back looks like I will need to fly back the day after unless I take a red-eye.  I've also considered shipping lugage.

First now I'm considering flights on Alaska with Bag fees seem to be the best rates and have a direct flight.  Also considering spending the night on the trip back and flying the next day to avoid the red-eye situation.

Excursion wise I'm definitely interested in the Deadly Catch and one of the train rides but outside of that am open to suggestions of must sees/dos

So would love feedback from those that have done this cruise and what to expect and any tips you might have.

The cards haven't been available lately. Is there usually a certain day they come up or do you just have to keep checking at random?

They were just available on 1/20 you have to keep checking. I just bought 5 of each to pay for some cruises.

I'll be buying them anytime I see them since they are always 10% off.

How quickly do you get them?

Thank you, someone posted in another thread that they were on AARP and likely on Verizon as well so I was able to login and get my limit of 5 x $500 and 5 x $100 so nice to get 10% off your cruises

They are back on AARP. I would check Verizon because they usually come back the same day

If you subscribe to one or more previous threads on the subject, many people post when they are able to get them.

I only asked because there are a number of people on this Princess board who are overly concerned that it would cause to much noise and be disruptive. Especially during the shows. (my self not included) How they would be able to hear anything with the loud volume of the show is beyond me.

While in the show you could set your phone to vibrate or silent.

I liked the app because it gave you information about what was going on that day times and places. Also had a easy to use map to get around if you were not familiar with the ship.

It also let you see your sail and sign account to see what charges there were and such.

Did you find that it was overwhelming with all the beeps?

No because you only add people you wish to get message with you have to accept invites otherwise you won't see the persons messages it's not like a public free for all.

Did it include an audible alert for text messages ?

Yes it did and a notification on your phone that you had a message in the app.

Carnival already has an app that lets me chat with others and it's $5 for the entire cruise. If I had the Cruise Critic one then you would be forced to buy at a minimum the Social Package to use it.

So with possibly 3 cruises this year alone I'm looking to snag these when I can, I have plenty of points I just seem to keep missing them.

Is there some way to be notified when they are available? Is there a thread that I can subscribe to where people are updating/posting on a regular basis?

St Croix, Sandcastle on the beach, no drop off but some rocks close to beach.

St Maarten, sunset cafe a nice taxi ride through the French side.

Antigua, turners beach, no crowded.

Barbados, Boat yard at the end of a tour..

St Kitts we took the train ride no beach day.

What did you think of the train ride in St. Kitts? I think it's the best way to see St. Kitts I've done it twice now.

When we travel on Princess, when we arrive at the dining room, we are always asked if we want to sit with a large group or by ourselves. Their "Anytime Dining" is very efficient. Maybe the smaller table size choice is what makes the difference when MTD doesn't work on RCCL.

 

I'm curious, do you think reservations are necessary for MTD on Adventure? We'll be a group of 4.

I don't recall but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that reservations are always required.

And I assume that since some may not have their luggage, the dress code for the MDR on Saturday night is more "lax"?

On our 5/16 sailing the rooms were available at 2pm and we had our bags before dinner (6pm) but what I found as far as dress code it seemed to be not enforced at all even on formal nights. I saw people in shorts and t-shirts as well as flip flops. Saw this in the spectialty resturant as well.

May I ask some of you recent travelers your experience with morning room service. Are the items arriving warm? Or should we stick with juice, coffee and pastries? I like to sit on my balcony early in the morning and enjoy sailing into port.

Just did the 5/16 cruise and we did room service breakfast one morning because we had to be up and off the ship early. Our food was not warm at all and the toast was horrible. We didn't order it again after that so it could of just been that one time but we had it delivered at 7am when the bar opened so that we could have a memosa as well.

I agree. I sailed her May 9th. To each his/her own. I figure with 3-4k passengers each week, some wear and tear is expected. I'm not looking to buy the ship, nor does some wear effect my vacation experience.

 

OP, which room did you have?? This could help others avoid the noise. We had 7577 and had zero noise or vibration.

 

Agree with the windjammer food, I ate the salad after giving up with other "warm" selections. Our MDR server Binu was incredible, the best service ever.

 

Also agree with the decreased drink wait staff. Never before on any cruise had I needed to get my own behind up for a drink. I only had ONE server catch me and save me the trip, was very displeased, although I adjusted and walked to to the bar.

 

I was reinvigorated with RCI after this cruise and booked two more. The staff was amazing, everywhere, aside from fewer drink servers. Oh and the main shows!! Top notch every evening.

Interesting not to far from you in 7587. We never heard crowd noice the only people we heard were the neighbors arguing. The only time we were in our room was when we were sleeping, I think our neighbors were always there, well it seemed that way.

The music noise most of the time was muffled but could be heard it was only 1 night don't recall which that it was extra loud enough to shake the bed. Not at young as I use to be and needing to get up early for excursions before it got to hot meant we were usually in bed or heading that way by 10pm. Music seemed to go on till atleast 11pm

I as keep saying had a great vacation none of this ruined it just very disapointed at the Quality of RCI as based on what I was told I had much higher expectations. As for the show I think they were terrible and have seen much better on other cruise lines.
