  1. Hi all,

I'm a seasoned cruiser but new to Celebrity and I'm trying to get some info. to help me with booking a cruise with them in Jan. 2015.

I'll be on the Equinox. I would like a balcony cabin but there are so many choices and quite figure out this ship. I don't want an obstructed view. Trying to stay with the Veranda category.

Any advice, info., recommendations would be great. I usually sail with Princess so opting for a new ship after being disappointed in Princess over the last couple of years.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Jolly and Dickenson Bay don't have snorkelling (I live on Jolly Beach). The water is always not clear.

Long Bay is probably the best place for walk off the beach snorkelling. If you are close to Jolly, then Turners is also ok, but not great. You can swim out to Pelican Island.

There is also good snorkelling in Carlisle Bay. I work at the SubCat office which is on Carlisle Bay Beach (in Old Road) and you can stop by and I can point out the good snorkelling, or if I am on the sub, speak with my wife Jamie who is always at the beach hut.

    Hey Ron,

Thanks for the info. Here is what I'm interested in. Maybe you can guide me. I would like a beach for our friends that has good snorkeling and then a restaurant or bar connected to it with facilities. One that is easy to get to. The Long Bay beach and Carlisle Beach sound good. Is one better than the other? Is one closer than the other or easier to get to? Do they both have restaurants or bars connected to them? Facilities? Are there any fee's to go? Any info. would be great. Thanks.

  3. Cuizer2,

Thanks for the great review/log of your trip... You had me lol......lol. I too thoroughly enjoyed the Panama Canal when I went in April 07. I'm not a morning person.... You do sunrises, I do sunsets....lol. But I was up at 0330 to be out on deck 10, which is forward and above the bow, for my special spot. We had 12 people in our group and we took up almost the whole space....It's a secret area....lol.... It was amazing.... And then we went aft for the reverse trip, took up that whole space and had lunch..... it was awesome......

Glad you had a great time and what a great trip........ I saw the Jade/Pride of Hawaii and was at her Christening ceremony in San Pedro...... She looks like a beautiful ship........

  4. Hi all, we are still here, I log on to cruise critic and take a quick peek at some of the cool threads and then I log off. We are still schedule for the Carnival Freedom for April 5th and the Splendor March 29th 2009.

See ya soon, Hope 2008 will bring more joy and happiness to all of us.

Ok, wait a minute..... You dumped us for a computer game???

How can that be?? sniff, sniff, cough, cough. We thought we meant more.......lol..... step away from the game controls......lol.......

  5. Your Kidding right? You are complaining about smoking. lol. You live in Santa Clarita as I do. For one you can go to any restraunt as there is no Smoking and all amusement parks are non smoking Parks except for a few designated areas and all Bars and even the Malls are smokeless.

And there are several Cities that are non smoking so maybe you should move there if smoking bothers you that much.

This would be a valid complaint if you lived in another state where smoking is allowed at all Public places, But California has very tough laws on smoking at public places.

So exactly what public places are you talking about that is making you hate smokers so badly?

Your right.... Our city has very little smoking allowed in public places.... And I enjoy that.... But I'm talking about other states (outside of California) if I go on vacation and cruise lines... Can't even partake in the casino due to the smoking.. And that's the topic of this thread... The Paradise going non smoking and I was very excited about that.... Finally a cruise line/ship offering a non smoking casino....

Hate smokers? No. Some of my family smokes... But again, their right to smoke shouldn't be allowed to override the health of others.... They can smoke in their home or their car or out in the wild blue yonder if done safely.......

  6. If the entire U.S.A. were to go non smoking in ALL public places (except your home and car if no kids are present) then smokers would have to quit to cruise or vacation. I know they say they won't quit or won't cruise but I don't see that happening...... Do I want that, yes.... Do I think it will happen anytime soon, no.... We need much more govt. support and medical support with both anti smoking programs and meds to help smokers quit. It's an addiction and not easily done....But it needs to be done.. Second hand smoke kills and their right to smoke should not out weigh or be anymore important than my right to be in a public place and be healthy......I hope I see these restrictions in my lifetime.......

  7. Wow....I didn't know you couldn't bring back sand... I collected as well from the Caribbean....Put it in a little plastic baggie like jewelers use.. But luckily I forgot in Hawaii... I later found out it's considered bad luck to bring back sand from Hawaii.... :p
