Are there any hotels where you can park your car for the duration of the cruise?
-
Thank you for the information. Fingers crossed that we will be able to cruise next year.

I cant give you any specifics for the Bolette but Fred Olsen has (or at least had on the smaller ships) a really nice friendly atmosphere onboard. The smaller ships mean you tend to meet the same people more often so you get to know those travelling with you and the staff get to know your personal preferences. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment is low key but enjoyable. Fred still tend to have live music around the ship at different times to enjoy while having a drink and a conversation. There are shows at night in a main theatre, the usual music and dance, comedians etc. They also have a British night when some wear red white and blue. They will tell you about any themes in advance.Guests tend to be a bit older than on other lines and the cruise offering is geared towards quieter tastes so no belly flop competitions in the pool😀.
There are formal nights and the dress code is pretty well adhered to but alternatives to main dining if that is not your thing.
Food onboard is very good, nothing too fancy but some interesting choices and decent vegetable. The lunchtime buffet's are higher quality than some other companies but your view on that will depend on who you have sailed with before. They do for example an Indian day and a seafood day.
Drinks prices are reasonable and there are all inclusive packages which are cheaper if purchased before sailing (and limited to a set number of people per voyage).
They do some extra pay items like every other ship eg elegant afternoon tea.
As the ships are a bit smaller (though this new one is bigger than the others) you get on and off much quicker. Please note you don,t get lunch on the first day and embarkation can be mid to late afternoon.
Anything specific you want to know about Fred, someone will be able to help you I’m sure.

Just booked our first Fred sailing for May next year. What can we expect? Onboard the Bolette.

Think this year it will have to be a margarita

On Oriana in August and there were live port talks and then these were shown on a loop on TV in the cabin
-
We did early saver. Expressed our preference on cruise personaliser. Confirmed on board. Luckily got what we asked for.
-
We stayed at Ellington Lodge. Great room. Fabulous breakfast. Would definitely stay there again
-
Where do we find out what our embarkation time is?
-
Good news. Enjoy wearing it.
-
Ellington Lodge at the Concorde. Bit further out, but can include parking with nights stay. Transfers to port included.
-
I wonder where everyone else is?

Oriana passengers seem very quiet on roll calls. I am travelling at end of July and looking at the roll call there are only 4 other people! No problem getting a sun lounger! [emoji3]

Southern comfort, lemonade and lime!

I am pretty sure this is the tour I took, but it was a few years ago. I remember that we did walk straight in and there were public toilets, very useful after the trip from the ship.
It was a very thorough and well explained tour. We entered the centre of the colosseum via the tunnel used by the gladiators. We went up several levels inside the colosseum and outside.
It was very hot, we were there in August.
-
We didn't stop at service station when we travelled to Rome. First available toilets were at the Colisseum. Then at the cafe where we stopped for lunch at the end of the tour, before free time.

What's the wine line? It sounds wonderful!
-
Fantastic. Thank you

Thank you all for the advice. I think it will have to be Alhambra. Is there really 400 steps to negotiate?
-
Hi
Trying to decide which place to visit from cruise in July/August.
All thoughts welcomed.
Cruise excursion or DIY? Which company would you recommend?
-
Hi,
Has anyone done the excursion to Alhambra? I am trying to decide between this or Córdoba.
Any advice would be welcome.
-
I asked when making my final payment and was told 2-4 weeks prior to sailing.
-
Hi, it should be in your details on cruise personaliser, that's where I found the info for our cruise ( the one after yours to Iberia [emoji3])

My husband, previous heart attack, has been looking at aviva for insurance this year, seems to be reasonably priced, but comprehensive.
Glad your well.
