  1. I'm currently on a Gate1 River cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. On Saturday, June  29th, we were informed that the lock had been damaged sometime during the night. During the day they determined that it would not be repaired for many days. As a result we left the ship on Sunday and have spent the last 3 nights and tonight in various hotels on a bus tour that pretty much has matched our original itinerary. We were all disappointed of course and we were only 2 gates away so we just missed getting through by a couple of hours.  At any rate the cruise was very nice for the first 10 days and we are all making the best of a situation that is not optimal. Gate1 and their personnel have been great and most of us are understanding of the difficult situation they and all the other River Cruise lines are having to deal with.

  2. Thanks all for your input. I've enjoyed the discussion!

We'd be leaving from Port Canaveral and the cruise price is actually less than the airfare. Overall VERY tempting... but the wedding is for my niece on my wife's side, so if we don't get there I'm toast! So yeah, as far as my wife is concerned, we NEED to be there and I guess we'll be flying after all (my loss is Delta's gain!).

  3. Hi All,

My family needs to attend a wedding in Nassau, Bahamas in middle of August. Instead of flying from Atlanta and booking hotels (which is very expensive) we're considering driving to Port Canaveral and taking a 3 day cruise on RC's Enchantment of the sea that is scheduled to spend the whole day in Nassau on the day of the wedding (August 15th). Should I have concerns that a cruise itinerary change could screw up our plans to be at the wedding? Any thoughts?
