  1. Bonnie-

Booked on the Arabian Intensive in March 2020--website seems to have a disconnect in terms of which (if any) land programs are available pre- or post- this cruise.  Received an e-mail regarding my cruise and land journey options, but when I click through, none seem to be available.

    Thanks for any available info.

  2. Currently on Quest in Club Continent suite 8073 which is the furthest aft on the starboard side.  Very little noise from above - - -none during the night.  Another advantage is neighboring cabin only on 1 side.

Nice cabin although would have preferred port side with a walk-in shower.

  3. Which veranda (non-suite) cabins have a tub and which have a shower? It seems to me I read something about deck plan codes and port vs. starboard, but can't find it.

I want to select a cabin with a shower. Thanks for any way to tell.

...and like Sunnies, paid an extra $ amount of about $200 per person and received the "free" internet & 5 shore excursions. Already had PPG & OBC from our TA.

We did this "re-booking" in mid-December and will probably leave it as is despite the upcoming promo.[/quote

Actually, after re-reading an earlier post about those with the expiring O Life being grandfathered into the new promo, maybe we will now get another amenity, i.e., more OBC or drinks pkg. Can anyone confirm?

  6. Took a bike & barge several years ago in France with Bike Tours Direct. The trip involved a good deal of biking every day--so it was mostly "hanging out" in the evening. Barge moved while the bikers pedaled the route with a number of stops along the way. Reboarded at dusk for dinner.

This was a small group trip--nothing like Viking or Uniworld which have 20-30 bikes on board for use by some of the 100+ passengers. The barge was just that-a barge-and cabins were pretty minimalist.

    Hope this helps

  7. I think you should discuss with your daughters. They may know more about Pompeii (I know my son studied it in school and also when he took Latin in high school, so it's the place he wants to see...) But I suggest you look online at images of both. Pompeii is much larger and requires a bigger time investment. If you want to do more than one thing in Naples, Herculaneum may be a good option.

I would suggest you continue your research and decide which one interests you more -- then I will be happy to provide my detailed notes. I just don't think they would be that helpful to you at this stage. (Plus the Pompeii ones are extremely detailed, really meant for spending at least one FULL day at the site, if not longer.)

As for Rome -- I've been there so many times that my notes would fill a book. :D (Seriously, ask anyone who knows me....!) I don't really have a "Cliff Notes" version for the major attractions. I would strongly suggest you get hold of some Rick Steves guidebooks. He is very straightforward, geared toward people who want to tour on their own, and even tosses in a little (corny) humor from time to time which your teens might like. He gives just enough history for most people's first visit.

His guide to the Mediterranean by cruise ship probably covers a lot of your ports.

    Hi Cruisemom,

Have been to Pompeii and would love to see Herculaneum next month when I'm in port at Sorrento. Could you be so kind as to e-mail me your notes? I'm at vzimny@yahoo.com

    Thanks!

    Vicki
