  1. On a recent cruise there was a man who was obviously a body builder but forgot to work on his legs. He looked like a giant Y. Skinny waist, broad built shoulders, thin legs.  He had 3 outfits he just rotated for the entire cruise - yellow, orange, and hot pink.  It was very tiny shorts with a tank top that hung low in the front and was basically just a strip of fabric down his back.  The guests on the ship started to refer to him as Sven (no idea what his real name was) and he definitely got stares when he would be on deck.   I'm sure that was his goal so he was probably very happy.  He also rotated his tuxes which were also brightly colored.  We would watch for him every night just to see how he would be dressed.

I have seen people wearing wild outfits, but never the same outfit in different shades over and over

  2. I bring a pair of sandals that can be worn with dresses or shorts, flip flops for up by the pool deck, and I wear tennis shoes when we fly.  We are almost always leaving WI in March where I have to wear some sort of warm shoe.  I also prefer  to wear tennis shoes when we go on excursion where there will be a lot of walking.  My husband wears tennis shoes, brings flip flops and a good pair of shoes to wear to dinner.   We get by with 3-4 pairs of shoes each.

I think it's because I'm African American, but I keep running into people who feel they have to explain everything to me without my asking. They KNOW I have never been on a cruise before (I have been on 14 - I think).

We rarely if ever ask someone what they do for a living.  I am vacationing to get away from my job so I don't want the question asked to me at all.

The only time I would explain something to someone on a cruise is if they asked or looked hopelessly lost (which can happen to experienced cruisers).  I love finding out where they have gone, what they think of other cruise lines, what ports are worth visiting and which ones aren't etc.

  4. My husband and I have just booked the Carnival Splendor cruise that sails from LA to Hawaii and back. It is a 14 day cruise at the end of April/beginning of May with several sea days (we are happy about this!) and we are wondering if anyone else has sailed the Pacific.

We have always cruised the Caribbean so the Pacific is an entirely new adventure for us. We have been in the Atlantic twice in March and it was very rough. This was ok for us since we do not have motion sickness issues, but were just curious if we would have similar seas.

We are just looking for anyone who may have taken this or a similar cruise in the past and could give us an idea of what we might be in for. :o

    Thanks
