  1. We are on Brilliance of the Season 10/11/15. We're looking at advice, looking at you 138east, for our pre-cruise hotel on 10/10. We are thinking we'll get a direct flight from Minneapolis for a mid afternoon arrival. My wife has never been to Boston, and it's been many years for me, so we'd like to see some sights and then get dinner.

I'm a Hilton guy but willing to stay anywhere, we have Hilton Financial District booked at $399 with a cancelable rate. Seems too high for me from the Midwest, but would if it's the best option. I considered Best Western Quincy Adams Inn, but it seems too far out to go out there, check in and take the T back downtown for sights.

Should I seriously consider hotwire Waterfront Area for $200? I've never done Hotwire, but it might be the Seaport? To get downtown for sights/dinner would it be a taxi or the T? Any other hotwire areas look good?

Hilton Backbay is $335 on their site directly, is that closer to sites, hop on/hop off tour etc? Should I be considering the Hiltons by the airport? Any advice/thoughts are appreciated!

We are booked at the Seaport Hotel, as we got it through Hotwire for the weekend before your stay. I have been told that is not too much really in that area, but will be staying 3 more nights after our cruise on the Brilliance. Really just like that we can take a public transit bus from the airport to just in front of this hotel for nothing. Also am finding a few seafood restaurants near there and was hoping to use the money saved on a taxi for this meal.

On the return we are at the Hotel140, as the rate was $188 through Hotwire. Looks to be basic and clean, but really not as upscale as Hilton.

The Hilton Backbay is close to the Prudential Center and I am finding at least one trolley tour that leaves from there (the name escapes me right, so I will try to search for it again and post if I find it).

Getting around Boston by public transit looks like a great option vs. taking a taxi.

  2. Hey

Just booked the Hotel 140 using Hotwire and got the great deal listed below.

    Rate per night $188.00 x 3 nights

    Subtotal $564.00

Tax recovery charges + fees $114.93

    Hotwire total $678.93

This hotel feature the following amenities:

    Free Internet - Smoke-free rooms - Fitness center - Business center - Self-service laundry - Internet access - In-room accessibility - Accessible bathroom

The total listed above is at least $250 off the best rate I was finding at sites like Hotels.com and Expedia. Does not look like it is the fanciest hotel, but does rate 4* out 5* at Tripadvisor and the location looks good, plus it has free internet (like to use to plan my day on public transit).

  3. The Silver Line is free from the airport. For terminals A, B, and C it stops on the lower level near baggage claim. The bus has one low step to get on - no worse than a rental car shuttle. The bus has luggage racks because it was designed to serve the airport. The trick is to get on the rear door of the bus to have the easiest luggage rack access.

Coming from the airport the bus makes two stops at World Trade Center - outside on the street and inside the station. Get off at the outside street stop. Walk the same direction as the bus to the corner and cross the street to the Seaport Hotel and go straight ahead to the lobby entrance.

If you can manage your luggage this is a free trip. I'd spend the $20-30 on the cruise rather than a cab from the airport to this particular hotel. The company I work for has offices in the World Trade Center beyond the hotel. When I fly to Oregon I always work the day in the WTC and schlep my luggage on the Silver Line to the Airport.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking of using the money saved on a meal at Legal Seafood.

  4. I have lots of experience with the Silver Line as well as the Silver Line between the Seaport and Logan Airport. What do you want to know? I can give you lots of details. The Seaport is across the street from the Silver Line Station.

Just wondering how easy it is to use vs. a taxi. We will be coming with 2 pieces of luggage (1 bigger bag and a carry-on) and also wondering if there is a place to store the larger bags. Also am I correct is saying this costs little or nothing to use. My step-dad seems to think we need to use a taxi, but if I were on my own I would try the SL1.

    Thanks

  5. Hey all

We are booked at the Boston Seaport Hotel for a pre-cruise night stay. Will be flying into BOS on Delta and just wondering if anyone has had any experience with SL! from the airport to this hotel. If I understand right this ride costs little or nothing. I checked taxi cab rates and it look like the fare would be $20-$30 for this same trip.

  6. Hi all

I finally decided to book the hotel for the night before our cruise out of Boston in October (10/03/2015-10/04/2015).

I an event, as I thought I might I ended up with the Seaport Boston Hotel in the waterfront/convention center area for the rate listed below.

    Rate per night $275.00

Tax recovery charges + fees $67.88

    Hotwire total $342.88

AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

This rate is good, as the lowest rate at the hotel's website is $249 not including taxes or fees.

I felt this would be a great choice for a 1 nights stay pre-cruise, as the SL1 transit line stops just in front of this hotel and if I am correct it costs nothing to use from the airport. Also it is one of the closest hotels to the cruise terminal. Lastly this is the top rated hotel on Tripadvisor for Boston.

  7. Thanks to all who replied. I am finding the Best Western for around $20. While this is a great rate, I have heard a few bad comments (some about the shuttle) about this hotel, so I am not just jumping on the deal. In any event I also am finding a 5* hotel in the Fanueil Hall - North End - Waterfront area for just over $300 (would less with my a coupon code I have) on Hotwire. Just trying to figure what hotel it might be, but it is not listed at betterbidding.com. Also not sure about this area.

  8. Hi all

My wife, stepson, and I will be cruising out Boston on October 4, 2015. I am looking for suggestions for a pre-cruise hotel. We will be getting in at 7:30, so we will really won't have too much time to sight see and plus we plan on doing that for a few days after the cruise. We have been looking at Seaport or the Residence Inn Boston Seaport. I am correct we ride can the subway to a station just a block or two from these hotels for little or nothing (of course I know you have to deal the luggage). Just wondering what everyone things about these hotels. Also wondering about some of the hotels near the airport, as well.

    Thanks
