  1. I really want to do the Behind the Fun tour so bad. My dad and I want to do it on the Breeze coming up but unfortunately we are stuck with the 1230 - 1 check in time so I fear it will all be sold out by then because I know it books fast. The second I step foot on the ship I am going to try and book it. You go to the shore Excursion desk for it correct? Hoping there will still be a spot for two left

Don't worry! When I booked mine, it was mid way thru our cruise on the Gory and they still had space. Ours did sell out - only 16 were allowed to go, but it must have sold out at the last minute. Enjoy it and please, post a review when you get back. I've been toying with the idea of doing it again on another ship.

  2. I'm sailing on the Sensation next week with 2 other girlfriends who have never cruised before. We are so looking forward to this trip! So, just a few questions...

    1. Who is the current cruise director?

    2. Our room will have a trundle bed. I can't imagine having any room to walk around. Anyone have this before? Do they store the trundle under a bed each day and pull it out each night?

    3. One of our ladies asked me about church services. I see there isn't any on the ship, but we will be in Nassau on Sunday morning. Anyone have any experiences with a church in Nassau or recommend one close to the port?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. So glad to read your review and happy to see you had a wonderful time. I'm getting excited to board the Sensation this Saturday with 2 girlfriends who have never cruised before. I've heard great things about the CD Kevin, so I hope he's still CD when we go. Thanks for your great review & congrats to your son on his college graduation!!!

  4. I did it on the Glory and thoroughly enjoyed it. As mentioned above, no phones/cameras, skirts and you MUST have closed toe shoes. I didn't know this and showed up in sandals. The lady running the tour had me change and I'm so glad I packed a pair of sneakers! Our tour lasted 4 hours. We started in the library where security came by and swepted each of us with a wand. Then on to many, many areas of the ship. Again, we were wanded by security before entering the bridge to meet with the captain and have a photo taken. We ended our tour in the steak house with some champagne and mimosa's and were given a soap carving of a swan. We also were given a few "goodies" a drawstring backpack, a hat, a lanyard, 2 8x10 photos (delivered to our cabins later that day) a wristband and a program/paper on interesting Carnival Glory tidbits, such as how many eggs, steaks, cokes, beers, etc. are served on a typical cruise. On the back of this paper is the recipe for the Chocolate Melting Cake. We were done by 1:00 PM - still plenty of time to enjoy Sea Day.

  5. Please tell me more!!! I'm going on the Sensation on Sept. 29th with a few girlfriends that have never cruised before. I want them to have the time of their lives. Who's the CD? We're on Deck 4 - I've always been on Deck 6, 9 and 10. Any more or less movement there? I'm fine with it, but one of the girls gets a bit motion sickness.

What kind of shows are in the main theater? Do they have a "Healthy Creations" salad bar in Serenity like the Vista does? I just got off the Vista on Sunday and absolutely loved that on Sea Days. Looking forward to reading more!

  6. Hubby and I were on the same cruise. Enjoyed all of it. The ship didn't really look run down to me, but at the same time it was hard for me to believe that it's only a few years old. The carpeting in our room wasn't worn out, but there were 2 stains under the desk area. Also, a dark stain in the bathroom sink. Made me wonder what passengers are doing to cause this. Rust spots are going to happen quickly due to the environment. Our service was just ok and not as wonderful as we've experienced on our other Carnival cruises. Upon check in, our balcony still had small bits of trash and a pair of worn out pool shoes left behind by the last guest. Next to the bed were a pair of men's socks all balled up. The room steward had left the water running in the bathroom with two wine glasses in the sink. I don't know how long that ran for, but we arrived at our room at about 2:15 PM. Hubby requested (nicely) 2 more pillows which he never received. Then the room steward would search me out in the hallway almost every afternoon to ask how I liked my towel animal. I found that kinda odd. But it was a great cruise and absolutely loved my time in the ports - esp. Grand Turk and St. Maarten, relaxing and meeting some really nice people.

  7. Just off the Vista yesterday. The sky bikes are free, but unfortunately we weren't able to do them because they malfunctioned 1/2 way thru the cruise and never got fixed. I did the ropes course, played mini golf and there is a lot of fun stuff in that area. Outdoor pool tables, foose ball tables, shuffle board, ping pong with 4 squares - never saw that before! Twister is painted on the deck with the spinner on the wall next to it.

Lots of water fun with a couple of slides. Only bad thing about that is where they put it - close enough to Serenity and we could hear the same kid screaming his/her lungs out all day long....What were the ship builders thinking??? LOL

    Have fun!

  8. I do a load of laundry about 1/2 way thru the cruise. I like to pack light, so my pj's, bathing suit and unmentionables need refreshing by that time. Pack some powder detergent in a sandwich baggie. It's light weight and won't take up any room. On my last 2 cruises the soap vending machines were out of service, but would have been $3 per load/box. I've never seen fabric softener in those machines so, I also take a few dryer sheets too. Never had a problem with getting a washer. I usually go in the morning or late evening. There is an iron & ironing board in there if needed. Avoid that on elegant night - my mom went to 3 different launderettes to get a few wrinkles out of my dress and found long lines at each one. Pack stuff that doesn't need ironing!

  9. On our last cruise, my mom & son shared a room. The beds were together. No biggie. The room steward separated them. In fact, he set them out in the room the way my mom suggested and everyone was happy. Hubby and I have never had ours wrong.

  10. Pack a small amount of laundry soap and a few dryer sheets. If you pack light and don't mind doing a load of wash during some down time. The dryer sheets also come in handy for me because I hate the way the bed sheets smell. I know they're clean, it's just the washing process. So I just rub a dryer sheet on my pillow case and sheets and I'm fine.

Come up with a 4 digit code that works for your room safe. Make sure it's easy enough for everyone in the room to remember, but make sure it's NOT easily identified - such as your house #, birth dates, etc.

Pack a night light - especially if you have an inside room. You can leave the bathroom door open, but with the ship movement, it might open more than you'd like.

Remind them to pick up after themselves. The cabin stewards have a huge list of rooms to clean and they work very long, hard hours. I try to keep my room as tidy as possible (I'm a bit of a neat freak anyway) so that all he has to do is make the bed, vacuum and change out a towel, or two. I've walked by a few open doors to rooms that were absolute pig stys!

Pack a highlighter. I like to go thru my Fun Times before bed and "highlight" whatever I'm interested in doing the next day.

Just enjoy yourselves! Cruising is awesome. Hubby and I leave Saturday on the Vista!!! I need to get off these boards and start packing!

  11. Last year my husband and I cruised over Halloween. We were on RC Allure of the Seas though. I don't think it makes a difference which cruise line you're on, it's sure to be a party!!! We saw some outrageous costumes that must have had to come in their own luggage. It was so fun! We decorated our door - which I've never done before. I think there might have been ToTing for the little ones, but those days are behind us. There was a parade and a costume contest as well. Have fun with it! I know I've read on here that some people book Halloween cruises all the time. Enjoy!!!

  12. Well, I've been on about a dozen cruises in the past 4 years. I always bring a 12 pack of soda because I'm in love with Fresca and the ships don't carry it. Plus I'm pretty much a non-drinker. I know that the rules state it must be carried on the ship and I did for the first 2 or 3 cruises. Then my husband insisted I leave it in our check bag from the airport. I must be pretty lucky or they don't give a rats patooty about my soda because I've never had it confiscated. I didn't know you could also bring a bottle of wine too. I thought it was either one, but not both. Good to know.

Also, I like to pack as light as possible too. I just throw in a few dryer sheets, some powder detergent in a zip lock baggie and do a load of wash 1/2 way thru the cruise. Washers & dryers are about $3 each, but most times the soap dispensers are out of order - and they want $3 a box as well. Packing your own won't take up any weight at all. Last cruise we took I needed to break into my detergent before we even embarked. I was hit with a huge gust of wind while walking outside on deck 14 with a cup of black coffee. Of course I was wearing a white t-shirt!!! I just soaked it in the bathroom sink while we went to dinner that night and it was fine.

Great idea about the over-the-counter meds. I needed more band-aids than I had packed on one of our cruises. It cost me $1.50 for 1 bandaid and a tiny foil pack of Neosporin Oint at the Medical Center.

  13. Carnival has a policy of 40 minutes without use. We were on the Sunshine and the clamshell next to me had been vacant all day except for a towel, a hat and an empty beach bag. Finally after several hours of people asking, "Is this taken"?, I had had enough. I told this new couple that the people hadn't been back for hours. So, they moved their stuff to the towel hut and laid down to enjoy the Dive-In movie. When the people came back, they were rude, loud and tried to get back in the clamshell by telling them they thought her glasses were under the cushion! Ha! I told her she hadn't been back for hours and she tried to tell me that she was only gone 20 minutes!!! Nerve!!! As they became louder, everyone around us yelled for them to shut up (movie was playing) and they finally left after I told this rather large man in another clam shell to call security. After they left, another couple nearby said they had the same issue with the same couple the night before. If you see abandoned chairs, clam shells, cabana's for more than 40 minutes, let a towel attendant know. Someone else told me that on another cruise they had been on, the attendants were marking chairs & loungers with times. Good luck!

  14. I'm a seasoned cruiser, but this fall I'm going on a 5 day cruise with a couple of girlfriends who have never cruised before. One of them has a peanut allergy. I made the notation when booking the cruise and we plan to visit the main dining room after boarding the ship. Anything else we can do? She will have her Epi Pen with her. Anyone have any experience with nut allergies and cruised safely? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  15. I don't mind doing a load of wash mid week on our cruises. Especially my bathing suit - afterall, I believe it's the most worn item on a cruise and it can get pretty skunky after using the pool, hot tubs and the beach! On the past 2 cruises the soap dispensers in the laundromat were out of order. Pack your own powder or pods and a dryer sheet or two.

  16. Thanks for the report....great to see you enjoyed yourself. I just booked this ship for a September cruise with a few girlfriends. This will be their first cruise and probably my 12th by that time. They call me the Cruise Director and looked to me for choosing and booking everything! Any more reports out there? How about 3 sharing an inside room? Any tips for that? I have no idea where on the ship we will be assigned, but I'm kinda hoping it will be midship. Thanks in advance!
