  1. Oh.....we did enjoy the afternoon show in the Illusionarium....Wine Tasting, the Musical. The food and wine were good, the musical was entertaining, and those in it were very talented. We didn't go see Legally Blonde....not a huge fan. Had it been Rock of Ages, we would have been sure to go! Oh, and if you are going to go to the French Restaurant, go on one of the 1st days of the cruise! It books up fast, and if you don't have a reservation, you may not be able to get one. Of all of the restaurants, it was our favorite.

  2. Our 1st cruise was on the Disney Wonder....5 days, Western Caribbean in 2013. After spending the following year in treatment for breast cancer, we decided to treats ourselves to another cruise in 2015. I was comparing prices, and found we could do a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise midship balcony, pay for all of our shore excursions (we did 3), and pay for the upgraded dining, as we had opted for the bar package as our freebie for less than it would have cost for a 4 day Bahamian cruise on the Disney Dream. We took the gamble and sailed on the Getaway in its inaugural year. I only had 2 issues...one being the smoking on board in the casino, and the other, the fact that there was really only one pool and it was shoulder to shoulder with people. I loved the food, the service was top notch, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely sail on the Getaway again.

  3. Here is the navigator for the Nassau day from a recent cruise. It's going to have some holiday themed items you won't see but this would give you a general idea

Awesome...thanks so much! That did help. I saw a beer tasting and some other activities that looked interesting! As ours is s much shortervcruise, I'm sure that some of the themed offerings will not be offered, like the Pirates Party, but we didn't really stay long when we went the last time. My husband enjoyscvthe bingo, so I know if it's boffered, that's where he will spend his time!

  4. The Official policy is found here.

Q: May Guests bring alcohol onboard?

A: Effective for cruises embarking on or after September 30, 2015, Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port-of-call.

Guests wishing to consume wine or champagne that they have brought on board in one of the dining rooms will be charged a corking fee of $25.00 per bottle. Please note:

    • These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage.
    • Any alcohol packed in checked luggage will be removed and stored until the end of the cruise.
    • Any wine or champagne in excess of 2 bottles or beer in excess of 6 beers will be stored until the end of the cruise.
    • Bringing liquors and spirits (including powdered alcohol) on board is prohibited. These items will be stored until the end of the cruise.
    • Guest MUST retrieve any stored alcohol at the end of the cruise. Items not retrieved will be destroyed, and no compensation will be offered.
    • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.

Please note that the Disney Cruise Line alcohol policy is subject to change without notice.

So we aren't allowed to buy liquor in port? This is a bit confusing! I realize it must be stored and claimed at the end of the cruise. Of course, we are only on a 3 night cruise, and only disembarking at CC...so it isn't much if an issue this time, but may persuade us to cruise on other cruise lines for longer cruises in the future.

  5. We are sailing aboard the Disney Dream in November and one of our ports of call is Nassau. There will be 6 of us ranging in ages between 23 and 55. At least 4 of us have previously been to Nassau and have no desire to disembark. Are there any special activities for adults during that time such as wine tasting, etc? If the weather us good, the pool will do nicely, but if the weather is poor, we would like to know our other options. Thanks!☺

  6. We are 1st time cruisers on the NCL lines. I was disappointed when I heard that McSheehan was no longer with the cruiseline, as I thought he had a pretty good handle on what made vacationers happy. As I have only cruised on the Disney cruiseline... price prohibitive this time around, I researched and felt for the price that NCL was the best bet- may parents are huge fans of Royal Caribbean. Hope I'm not wrong. As long as I can take my soda to my room, and perhaps the buffet stuff to the pool, or outside seating, I have no problem with not taking anything from the other restaurants, although sometimes once the dessert comes around I'm a bit full. Depending on what it is, that's what large purses are for....lol.;)

My biggest worry is how smoky everything is going to be. I am allergic. We are going to be on the 10th deck, mid. I hope I picked the side that wasn't above the smoking area. We will see, I guess.

  7. I'm sorry this happened and that the oversight caused more money to be paid. It is also pretty awful to have to admit to family that a mistake caused their whole vacation to be ruined... so of course one has to cough up the money to make it right.... everyone is happy... well maybe except the bank account. Next step.... Write to Cruise Critic and complain that DCL is a terrible company and their employees are insincere when they are only doing their job. They aren't paid to do their guests' jobs, too. Basically, DCL provides wonderful childcare while on board, but unfortunately, it doesn't extend to the adult guests during or prior to the cruise. In a nutshell.... the bill wasn't paid... as promised, the cruise was cancelled. In this age of high tech gadgets, there really isn't any excuse for missing a due date, and if you don't like, or don't :r have high tech gadgets, a pen and a wall calender work really well, and have for years.

  8. Interesting, not changed on their website yet.

I just read about it yesterday, and I think it should be something that is grandfathered in. If you have already booked your vacation, then you should get what you were promised when it was booked, otherwise it is false advertising. Don't know if complaining will do any good, but maybe it's worth a try? I was also looking forward to breakfasts on the balcony while my husband gets ready in the morning. I am always ready before him...lol!
