Around 40 years ago U.S. News & World Report was a respected magazine. Now it's a website looking to be relevant. Every few months it posts some stupid ranking, and is then savaged by those who know something about the subject. Best advice - ignore it.

The answer to your question is yes.
-
Is your port Ocho Rios or Montego Bay? If it's the former - no. If it's the later - yes.
-
USA money is accepted everywhere. Never pay what is marked or asked. Negotiation is expected.
-
Almost nobody pays attention to this. Arrive at the pier when you want to.

This has been a RCCL problem for years. One year there's an issue with Mozilla Firefox, next year it's Google Chrome, following year it's Apple Safari. It seems to always like Microsoft Internet Explorer/Edge.

US currency is universally accepted in the Caribbean. Remember that outside of restaurants and bars - do not pay sticker price. Bargaining is expected.

RCCL Corporate Director of Guest Relations is Laly Yera-Rodriguez.

Not likely to be a problem this early in the season.

Higher energy level. Much more going on. Food isn't as good.

I will be going on my first cruise (Panama canal) in December. I'm trying to choose excursions/plan port days but I have questions.
1. One of our stops requires a tender. I want to do one organized activity (snorkelling type thing) then go solo. Is that an option? Do they bring you back to the boat, or to some sort of tender stop?
You will be returned to the tender location.
2. Thoughts on independent excursions? How would that work? Is it risky? Are there companies that sort of work the tour circuit, or is it unique to each stop?
In my opinion the risk is not worth it. If you are on a Princess booked excursion they will hold the ship if you are late. If you are on an independent one they will not.

From our experience the best time to book is 10 - 12 weeks prior to departure date.

A friend of ours has a friend that just got off a Royal ship. They claim you have to now have to carry your Luggage off the ship. The people that are flying out are the only one's that can leave there Luggage out the door the night before. Has anyone heard of this new rule.
100% wrong.

Last month we took our first Princess cruise, on Regal, after three with Royal Caribbean. From our perspective (late 60s), the food was outstanding. Much better than RCL.
Some other comparisons were not as positive: Balcony cabin size, enrichment, activities.
Entertainment, staff, and ship cleanliness were equally excellent.

No email notification from Princess. No website account message. Very poor customer relations. :(
-
Note: it now says "tender", vs. normal Montego Bay docking. So - many ships at port, and we're odd man out due to Ocho Rios screw up. Excursion link shows no excursions available - obviously due to previous bookings. To quote Orange Man-Baby - "BAD".
-
Ocho Rios is now deleted on the website. Montego Bay is there, but with no excursions link.
-
Yes, but it can't be "clicked", so it's not really there. According to customer relations - "they're working on it". With glacial speed.

Re: February 26 Regal Princess Issue
Yesterday afternoon I checked the website regarding our cruise. The Ocho Rios excursion was deleted. I called customer service. They had no clue. I asked them to find a clue. After several minutes on hold the woman said Ocho Rios, Jamaica is cancelled due to "operational issues". What does that mean? No clue. Ship is now probably going to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Website still says Ocho Rios, but it's not "clickable". I called this morning. Still no clue. Why wasn't I informed about this instead of randomly discovering it. No clue. When will the website be updated? No clue. Are we really going to Montego Bay? No clue.
This is our first Princess cruise after seven on Royal Caribbean. Not impressed so far.

We purchased a Geo Blue plan from Steve. $100,000 medical, $500,000 evacuation, with no deductible is around $165 - for two people. Evacuation is as important as medical.

Highly recommend Park 'N Go. Half the cost of port parking if you reserve and pay in advance. Never more than a few minutes wait. Everyone is very professional and friendly.

Sport jacket, slacks, and tie are always OK for MDR "formal" nights.
Many men drop the tie and it's no problem.

First time Cruisers! lol My husband is not keen on packing a suit of any kind. If you choose to just eat at the buffet on formal night, do you still have to wear a suit or is the smart casual ok?
Horizon Court buffet is always casual. Shorts and golf shirt are no problem at dinner.
Re: MDR formal nights: Sport jacket, tie, and slacks are just fine. Many men even drop the tie. It's not a problem.

We've used Park 'N Go three times. Very professional and speedy operation. Drop your car off around 10:15. You will be at port (in line) by 10:45.
