Thank you. We’ll give that a try again. Maybe preferences are offered after first cruise as there is no preferences available. Or maybe just too soon?

Try doing it on the app. The preference page doesn't load for me on the website but it works in the app when I pull up my registration.

My read of that is that elegant jeans are welcome in all dining venues, but ordinary non-elegant jeans are not welcome in the Restaurant after 6pm.

I noticed the same disconnect between the info you posted and the info posted by @Dunnedg just above yours. I mentioned this to the Seabourn consultant I booked with and she told me she was also aware of it and had reported it to the web team to be fixed. She assured me that jeans are fine in the Restaurant every night except Formal night, and it was clear that we were talking about standard jeans, not some designer fashion jeans.

We've had this before and never been able to resolve it.  I think it is a BA thing.  And we are doing that flight next February (London/Rio/Bueno Aries) so I don't hold out much hope.

It is definitely a BA thing and quite annoying. My wife and I have flown BA business class (club world) for 2 trips, booked directly with BA, and even with business class they would not allow us to select seats until we checked in online 24 hours ahead.

  5. HenrysAunt, we just got back for the Gems of the Danube on Scenic. The excursions from Passau were booked on board when we embarked. They handed out papers to be completed with the options for several ports and asked for them to be turned in that night. Then they know how many buses and guides to allocate to each option.

We went with Cesky and it was a neat medieval village. The people that went to Salzburg were equally happy with their choice.

  6. I don't understand why it makes such a difference to folks if they pay the gratuities before the cruise begins or at the end. You're still paying gratuities. Also if a cruiseline offers optional tours that is not really all inclusive either in terms of River Cruises. Almost all river cruises include excursions. Jmo

The main difference is having to figure out how much the tips will be and then figuring that into your calculations when comparing the cost between companies. It's easier if it's included.

There is also the issue of needing cash for tips for the tour guides/drivers on land if those tips are not included in the price. It's nice to not have to deal with getting cash from the ATM to keep a few euros or other currencies to hand out at the end of each excursion.
