  1. We are booked for the May 12th cruise on the Rhine, we thought we would wait since it’s 2 months out.  Who knows what the situation will be then. We have had our lives drastically change in the last week! So it can change fast!

  2. I’m on the southbound and we don’t get there until the afternoon so the tours on mine don’t leave till 230ish so maybe you leave from koblenz in the morning and don’t get there till 2 ish? They have a band come on board at night in cologne so you’ll be docked in cologne at least till 10 thirtyish

  3. They are doing everything they can there. Thats how it is in a lot of places. Highest outbreak in Asia, so it’s good Delta and other travel outfits like Globus have suspended travel. But the rest of the world? Really hard to control the spread. It can still come to your neighborhood so it doesn’t matter what you do stay home or go you’ll still have a chance to get it eventually. Only bad if you have a weak immune system. Isn’t fatal to most people. There still only 80,000 cases worldwide out of 7 billion +. And don’t bother wearing masks, they are useless. You would need a ventilator to stop it.

  4. Wow thank you so much for posting the daily schedule I really appreciate it!

We will definitely have time for both tours thank you so much!

Another question did you do the music museum in Rudesheim tour? It says we arrive at 5 pm and goes for 2 hours...That would put us right back on the boat for dinner.. I was really hoping to have a few minutes for a quick volcanic Riesling at my favorite wine pub there!

  5. What a great thread thank you for all your comments I just read all 48 pages.

We will be sailing on May 12 on the Romantic Rhine going from Amsterdam to Basel.

I was wondering if anyone remembers how long you’re in Cologne doing the Southbound cruise it says we arrive in the afternoon but I’d like to know approximately the time the boat usually pulls in ? We were hoping to do the Jewish heritage tour (2 hours) and the chocolate factory tour after?

If anyone needs any information on the Paris to Normandy cruise or the active and discovery on the Rhine I have done both of those. Both were amazing!

Can’t wait for May! We are going a day early and doing 1 day Basel and 2 days Zurich after the trip!

    Happy Planning!

  6. I need a recomendation about an afternoon tea in london

Everyone says claridges, but we r doing the Sherlock Holmes tea at the st James court, it just looks so cool. But the savoy and the ritz are also supposed to be wonderful, also the tea at st James is only 40 others are far more expensive.

  7. Is it possible to visit the Tower of London, St Pauls Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral from a HOHO bus in one day? We will have 1 full day in London prior to our cruise and will be staying at the Doubletree by Hilton London-Victoria. What HOHO bus company would you recommend?

Tube is faster, you'll be waiting longer for the bus. You should be able to do it all.

  8. Thank you so much for answering my question. I will be on deck 4. Finally a perk for travelling steerage!

If you wouldn't mind another question, were there any must see/ do on the ship?

    For sure,

Don't miss any of the shows at the stardust theater, the entertainment was awesome. The only ones to miss are the day 1 and day 7 shows. This includes a preview show, a concert by the jewel singers, and a repeat performer.

Also don't miss fire and ice, in fact see all their performances, Rosie is a star!

I really preferred eating in the MDR instead of the buffet. The buffet was so crowded and it was hard to find a table.

Also be sure to eat at cagneys and lebistro, they were amazing!

The game shows were really fun so make sure to check some out.

When the weather is nice the great outdoors is a wonderful spot, spinnakers lounge is great when the weathers bad.

The white hot party was awesome, make sure to get an angeltini it was delicious.

Also I highly recommend the martini tasting, it was informative and you can win a free martini!

I'll be sure to post more in days 5,6, and 7!

  9. I just got off the Jewel and loving these pictures. We ended up going into Endicott arm instead of Tracy arm...no clue why, but Dawes glacier was beautiful too. I guess I need to go back a few more times. Next time I really want to take the excursion you did. I just couldn't fit in all I wanted to do that day...much too short of a time in Juneau.

That's wonderful that you went, did you have a great time?

Endicott is the back up fjord when Tracey is not accessible. But it's wierd that they did this to you in August, I mean we were lucky, they said we were only the second boat ride of the season to make it to Tracey, hmmmm

We packed so much into one day in Juneau, my mom said she was never more tired in her whole life by the time went to bed that night!

Really the whole trip for us was like a month packed into a week, LOL!

I actually want to go back too, maybe the pearl 10 day out of Vancouver!
