  1. I have only just heard about this cruise report today....it was actually mentioned on the Seabourn board. I have read right through the whole 26 pages this morning...what a great tribute to your wife. I can only imagine how difficult a lot of this cruise would have been for you. I hope your next cruise is a lot "happier" for you. Best wishes for the future from Granny Downunder!

I must admit there is one photo you posted that made me feel quite ill!! "Biscuits and Gravy" I have never been able to understand anyones liking for that!!! Almost as bad as grits!! ....now watch all the "Southerners" jump on me!! :D You really should think about a trip down here and try the wombat burgers and koala on a stick!! Now thats good tucker! ;)

  2. After reading Wripro's comment...I wonder how many people agree with him as I do. I thought that this site was for comments about our cruises..and asking pertinent questions. Somehow..it has become a running commentary for..as Wripro said..amusement. I would add to that...self amusement. I have to say..I liked it best when it was about sincere comments. Lola

of course this site is for comments about our cruises....its also for advice for new comers..... or even advice for old timers going to a place for the first time......I think its also a place where we can chatter (or should be allowed to) to new friends we have made on our various cruises.....I like to hear any news about the lives of the crew, who we all seem to agree are so wonderful....a bit of gossip here and there never hurt anyone. If this site is only for "comments and pertinent questions", then maybe it should be abolished completley and the official Seaboun site is all that is needed!! Why is Cruise Critic relevent? Maybe Seabourn can get a Wikipedia page that answers all the "pertinent" questions....

  3. I have decided to hold off on buying a Kindle, hoping for a price drop. In my need to buy something, I got a crockpot. Trouble is, still no one to take the lid off and announce "For your dining pleasure, et voila!"

LOL....I will hold off for a while too, hoping they will include us "downunder" eventually....oh yes...and also the price drop!! ;) They really would be good though, but I think the lack of "paper" would take a bit of getting used too!

  5. I got over excited about the Kindle when I read about them last year.....so read a lot....but stopped when I got to the part where we cant buy them in Australia!! :( Im am not quite so technically challenged as to think the "wireless" part of a Kindle could work all the way out here....but did expect that I would be able to download the books to my computer, them merely transfer them to the kindle via a USB stick......nope...something about "copyright" stops us being able to do that out here! Cant understand that one......why can I buy paper books from Amazon in the USA but not the electronic ones?

Havent read anything for a while....so must look again to see if the rules have changed!

Yes you can delete the books you have read, and Amazon also keeps a copy of all the ones you have paid for so you can get them back at any time free........

On our last flight I saw a bloke using the Sony equivalent....they would be really great for travel......oh well maybe one day us poor Aussies will get some consideration!

  6. Well Cands, I dont really care what they do as far as Security is concerned.....the more the better....they do say that they blank out your face and your naughty bits though!!

Yes very soon we will be boarding a BIG ship...been "reading up" on the drink prices and budgeting! I must say though that RCI has a very generous "price reduction" perk......if you see the price of your suite reduced, you can phone and get a refund!! In our money we got almost $2000 refund!! :D Not a bad drink budget eh?

Really looking forward to your reports........

  7. OK everyone, all up to the Sky Bar, Granny is picking up the tab.....it is one whole year ago today, that I threw my spectacular attention seaking heart attack in the Australian Outback!!:D After being told I wouldnt see 2008 without drastic measures, I have gone on to survive Lisbon Police, Japanese earthquakes and even AMTRAK!! almost 3 months on Seabourn was a good way to recuperate!

  8. With a stopover in Bandar Seri Begawan?

(Sorry, I just love that name!)

I love that name too Seve :D I did start getting all excited about maybe spending 3 days or so there as we have never been to Brunei....then I thought about the damn luggage again! We are heading to a Northern European "late summer"...then staying on in London in October for a couple of weeks....therefore "warmer" type clothes......to stay in Brunei we would need "real hot summer" clothes......dont need to be carrying "clothes for all seasons" again! Could also have a stopover in Dubai....but then....same problem! Maybe look at JAL again ......

  9. I guess they were expecting you to take the train?? ;) :p

You could be right there Matt!! I think the European trains woud have been preferable too! The Swiss Air flight we took from Zurich was perfect apart from being overheated for us. Now I have to work our what airlines to choose for our next cruise! Looking at Royal Brunei at the moment....but they dont serve drinks! :(
