  1. No customs. You have the option of selecting a disembarkation time and will receive color coded tags so you can locate your luggage in the terminal. Leaving the ship can be annoying of they are using only one way off - every cruise card needs to be scanned, then down the ramp, find luggage and walk it through the doors to the arrival hall area to meet your driver.

We had our driver meet us at 8: as we planned a tour through the countryside, New Forest, stop in Lyndhurst and then to LHR for our 4:PM flight. This was on the Royal, last month, a larger ship and the line to disembark was wrapped around beyond the casino.

Darcy did you arrive at LHR a day before your trip began or day of. Did you use princess transfer? If you arrived the day before how did you get to your hotel? Thanks for any info you can give me

  2. If you were on the Regal in March, did you have the unlimited MedallionNet (and

remain logged in 24/7)? If so, is "wi-fi calling" enabled on your phone?

Answer "yes" twice, and your phone was delivering texts and calls via the internet

rather than the Regal's cellphone tower. Whole bunch cheaper ...like free.

I believe yes to both but I’m not sure. Medallion wasn’t working and we didn’t get a “trial” one either. They told us to go to regal.princess.com and stay on airplane mode

  3. It's not "one or the other". Your cell phone can connect to the ship's WiFi network and to it's cellular network at the same time. As long as you are prepared to pay the charges, there's no problem using both networks (and the Internet) at the same time if you want to.

We were on the regal in March and had princess at sea. I was in airplane mode the whole time and received texts from home. Is this different from what everyone is talking about?

  4. Princess has coin laundries available, If you plan ahead and reduce your luggage load 40% or more. Lucky enough for longer cruise, three suitcases can be reduced to one. HOWEVER, they are popular and soap and change machine have tendency to run out. Pack a couple of soap pods and a stack of quarters.

On regal the machines don’t take money. You insert your cruise card and get tokens. 1 load was around 7.00 w/ soap and dryer

  5. DHS and the State Department co-authored the regulations and DHS (CBP) is the one that lets you into the country. As long as you have a document that allows you entry into the US they airlines would have no reason to deny you boarding. As we aren't reading any stories of US citizens being stuck on an island without an Embassy I don't think it's as much of a concern as many make it out to be. Millions of people travel on closed loop cruises without passports without any issue at all and the few instances that I've read about the situation was handled in a timely manner.

this is what I was thinking too. Seems like a lot of money to spend for a 5 year booklet when we probably won't be able to afford to do this again until after college is over!!

  6. we are a family of 8 traveling to western carib. Hubby and I need to renew passports but all kids need a new one. What are the disadvantages of just getting a passport card for them. Seems like it might cost me more in passport money than the cruise!! We did buy private insurance not that that makes any difference. Just to show we are responsible parents!

  7. We need to rent 2 cars after we get off ship in Miami. We have a tight schedule (need to be at palm beach airport at 1:30) Would we be better off getting a shuttle to the airport or a rental agency near the port. Not sure what address to look for if near the port. If I put in port of miami It gives me airport locations or something on 25th st. I'm not familiar with the area and can't figure out which way to go. Also trying priceline or other booking discounts does;t really tell me where it just says miami! HELP!
