  1. That's true. This is from the website:

Important note for all cruise ship passengers:

If you are visiting via cruise ship these tours are not available online, please contact the cruise line directly to book activity tickets.

I didn't mean to suggest that the OP (or anyone else) should buy online. I only meant that the website provides information about prices. I believe the website prices are the same as the "at the door" prices at MM's ticket booth. Cruise passengers (and everyone else) can buy tickets there without being asked how they arrived in Jamaica.

I apologize if I caused any confusion. :o

Did you feel comfortable grabbing a cab at the port to take to you MM?

  2. Hi Folks,

Sorry to butt in here, but we just booked a cruise yesterday on Victory that leaves in less than two weeks. We have not flown since the airlines instituted their new luggage limits and I am fretting about how much my bags will weigh. Could someone elaborate on the laundry facilities on board? How convenient? How much $? Are there ironing boards? etc... I would like to not have to pack two outfits for each day if I can help it.

Also, if we do not pack formal wear and a jacket for my husband, will we be in the minority? I don't want to feel under-dressed. We do not like to eat our evening meals at the buffet. Someone on these boards said there are no more formal nights. Is that correct?

Thanks so much for any help. Between figuring out what to take and researching excursions, I'm a bit stressed and that's not what a cruise is all about. I know the cruise will be relaxing, but the 2 weeks leading up to it are not!

    Thanks again.

    Hi Laurie

We cruised in March and noticed lots of casual dressers in the dining

room, even on elegant nite. Saw many men dressed in docker pants

with dressier short sleeved shirts, some with ties. Did see a few tuxes,

cocktail dresses and some suits and ties. Did not see and jeans or

elegant nite though. I think if your husband skips the jacket, he will

be fine and not out of place.

Enjoy your cruise. We loved it.!!:)

  3. I think Victory was my favourite ship, and by far the most amazing itinerary.

St. Kitts - Scenic Rail tour booked through Carnival - really cool, definitely worthwhile for one time, and a nice relaxing tour to end a busy week

The ship is beautiful, in my opinion, and had a laid-back, easygoing feel .

We did the scenic rail tour also and it really was a nice, quiet relaxing

tour. It was nice to be able to see the whole island and the views

were fantastic. Our train was quite crowded and it took up until

almost the end of the tour to get our 2nd drink. The poor girls were

making them by hand with a blender!! They seem to be doing a lot

of running around. For the price, I don't think I'd do the tour again

though. Both times when the choir came to sing, it was difficult to

hear. 4 yr old gd enjoyed seeing the many children along the way.

  4. Thanks.

I'll put Accra Beach down as a slam dunk. :D

That leave Dominica and Antigua. Comments anyone????

Looking for nice beaches with food and drinks, chairs, etc.

    Cigar Dude

If you're REALLY looking for a good beach on Dominica, i think you'll

be disappointed. Any info I read mentioned black sand and there

were not many recommendations for beaches. When we got off the

ship I asked one of the van drivers which beach he recommended.

He told us to tour the island and swim back on the ship. We did

just that and he drove by the beach for us......glad we didn't stop.

    Loved Darkwood Beach on Antigua.:)

  5. Elecia

We are cruising with our 3.5 year old granddaughter in March and I went

to the Cozumel boards and asked a question on the Paradise Beach thread

about the child using the trampoline there. Tom, the manager wrote back to say she is too young to use that but that she would had fun

playing on the beach. Very informative thread you should read.

We decided on Chankanab (sp) Park in Cozumel. I think it is better for

the younger age children. There is a thread on the Coz boards about

    this place too.

Lots of great reviews on both Paradise and Chankanab along with other

    beaches on the Cozumel board.

  6. Hi Ken

So nice to have someone to help out near the ports. Appreicate your

    time.

Question... Is there any public transportation out at Rocky Point? Traveling with husband, daughter and granddaughter and arriving day

before cruise. Wanted to know our options for travel to sightsee, dine,

pick up misc items (including liquor store) We are staying at the HIEX

and believe the shuttle is only for airport and port.

Thanks again for your help and if we had a port here in middle NH I

would welcome the opportunity to help others:p

  7. Yes, on my last cruise......Some yahoo decided to place it right next to the main pool in the walkway. But these people didn't have a brain, they didn't even try to shade their daughter at all. Deck attendants asked them to move it.

But you really aren't getting it are you? As it becomes more popular, deck space will be an issue. Look at the number of people who post here. I think its a great idea as long as people are cognizant of their surroundings.

    Why be so insulting?

Excuse me, in no way I was insulting!! You are calling people

Yahoos and whining about one pool you saw. We have been discussing

bringing the blow up pools and placing them in a space "out of the way"

so that the little ones can also enjoy their cruise. None of us are suggesting bringing a 42" pool.

I'm getting it. The pool should not take up any more space than

a lounge chair, if that. If and when it does become a problem then

I'm sure Carnival will deal with it.

You sound like you need another cruise:p

  8. Gee,

Maybe there will be parents who care about the safety of others, and follow the rules of no unpotty trained children in the pools and the bring blow up pools ....by george maybe there will be a couple of yahoos who bring 42 inch rounds, and they'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and 'viola" no deck space for safely walking.......

Maybe they'll be tripping ove the topless two year olds!

 Gee, and maybe the chair hogs will not be able to save chairs and

instead plop in the blow up pools or the partiers will mistake the pools

    for bidets.

Get real. I have not seen one blow up pool in the way of anyone

safely walking by . Have You?

  9. I'm just reading these posts' date=' and I'm noticing that everyone seems to be quite divided on the idea of a small 'inflatable pool'.

We booked a family cruise for this May. Everyone we ran the idea by told us that it would be an amazing vacation for our family. My children are 12months, 6yrs, and 8yrs. Obviously our (just turned) 12month old isn't potty trained. We've always used swim pants for him in public pools.---I had absolutely no idea that our little guy would have to sit out, and not be able to swim with the rest of the family. Anyways, having read about it, I completely understand the reasons for it aboard the ship.

I'm noticing that there seems to be a concern about finding space for an inflatable pool on the deck.

I do plan to take an inflatable pool for him. He has paid the same rate as my 6yr and 8yr old. He isn't eating as much as them, or participating in camp carnival. On the deck, isn't he at least entitled to the same space as a chair would occupy??? Can't he enjoy some spashing around on the ship??? I would have every expectation to position it as out of the way as possible, and I would expect to empty it by a drain. Am I being unreasonable?????

    Please give me some feedback!![/quote']

You are not being unreasonable. As long as you place the pool where

it is not in the way of people walking by you will be fine. As I mentioned

back several posts in this thread, we brought the pool for our granddaughter, the room steward was happy to blow it up for us and we

filled it with the small pails she was playing with.....it was not a lot of

water. She had two other toddlers join her to play. The pool was emptied into the drain by the pool. No one complained as they had no

    reason to.

    Have a great cruise!!!

  10. Hi, thanks for the tips. Just curious if you used the after 10:00 pm babysitting that Carnival offers for under 2. My son will be 22 months when we sail in one week, and while I mostly plan to go to bed when he does, I thought it might be nice for DH and I to have a night or two when we can party a little later.

    Hi

My daughter used the babysitting after 10 for her 18 month old. We

brought a light weight stroller, not an umbrella stroller, with adjustable

back on the seat. Twice she brought the baby to the babysitting

service. Each time the baby was sleeping in the stroller. The staff was

great. A regular stroller worked out better on the cruise because when

the baby was sleeping she could be "wheeled" in to the show or for walks

    along the promenade.

I don't believe toddlers in swim diapers are allowed in any pool. As

stated in another thread, we brought a small blow up pool which our

room steward was very happy to get blown up for us. We used it

in our shower and also took it up to the aft pool and found a little

niche beside the pool to put it. It was in no ones way and there

were no other blow up pools there.

A couple of the other toddlers aboard came over to play and enjoy.

We filled the pool from the shower rinse water and disposed of the

water the same way. The aft pool is less crowded and our toddler

was able to cool off on the days at sea.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise!!!

  12. Hi

We just returned from the Carnival Liberty cruise. I was the one who

initially asked the question about how to blow up the pool. We did

bring a small pool for our 17 month old granddaughter. The room

steward was very happy to get the pool blown up for us and was

    highly rewarded.

The pool had a "flat" back to it and it fit perfectly into a small indent

outside the pool area. Everyone was able to walk by with no problems

and a few other toddlers joined in her in the pool. We filled the pool

with the rinse shower water and emptied it each afternoon to take back

to the room. Not many children on last weeks cruise but noticed the

ones aboard all having a good time. However we did see one couple

bring their toddler into the hot tub. Security asked them to leave.

I should mention we used the aft pool. It had far less people than

    the lido pool.
