Hi there. Where will the explorer depart from. Is there a kids club on board? Are you having to pay for a lot of extras for shows once on board?

They were only introduced on RCL recently - after they had their own child death by drowning last year.
We had been on carnival 2 time and then RCI and they had vests and thought it was a fantastic idea since there were no life saving staff.

Do kids have the use of life vests on carnival ships? We had them on RCI and thought it was a great idea!

I welcome the change, We always prepay our gratuities and actually think if everyone did we'd have lower fares not higher. The estimated 30% who do pay the gratuities subsidise those who don't. Just my opinion.

I Feel that you are subsidizing the company by paying gratuities!
I am probably going to be abused here. I feel that the companies should pay their staff a proper wage.
The cruise companies overheads should include wages. They would not be able to run a business without these people. They are not something that should be marketed as an extra service. When I go on a holiday I want to relax and not worry about tipping. People say you are ripping off the service off by not paying tips when the first and biggest rip off are the cruise companies not paying the a proper wage and keeping more profits.

We got back from 9 day EOS and got $100 OBC per cabin and $1.83 port taxed per cabin. No $22.50 per person here!

They will charge your creditcard periodically in whatever currency you choose. They charge 2 or 3% for conversion from USD. Check your card's terms and conditions. You can preload your account over the phone. They did the conversion for free and at better than market rates but the entity charging is in the USA so some banks charge a fee. Hint: if you book your next cruise onboard you get a credit to your _current_ onboard account that is sometimes larger than the deposit. That's free money.

I am just saying that spending $500 on drinks over a 9 night cruise is a bit excessive!

I agree with you. It is way too expensive. You would have to drink all day every day to break even. You would be drunk all the time [emoji33]

Another question.
Can you choose what day the package starts? Our boarding time is 3pm til 4pm and we would not get full benefit in that day.
Would rather it start in day 2.

Can anyone advise what coffee is available on refreshment package?
It says "specialty coffees", then underneath says
"All beverage packages exclude any beverages inside licensed Starbucks stores."
Can you purchase a coffee card?
Will be on Explorer of the Seas next month.

Thank you for reply. I think that is great advice to travel with open mind.
I think that some are negative at the most small things!

I have just booked a 9 day South Pacific in Dec this year and have not sailed with Royal Caribbean. Am very excited but have read some reviews and 90% are bad!
Has anyone had a great cruise that could let me know the positives?
-
Hi, about 15 members of our family want to get 5 or 6 cabins on a South Pacific cruise, either with Carnival or RCI.
Are there discounts for booking multiple cabin! Is it better going through agent or directly through Cruise Company?
Many thanks.

What is the site?

Unfortunately you can not control when people choose the convenient time and affordability to cruise. What you can do do is choose a cruise that has a limit put on kids or no kids at all.
It is not rude or selfish that a family goes cruising in school term. What is selfish is the person who thinks they deserve the cheaper fares and run of the ship!
We are all entitled to do what suits us!
